Title How Dare You!? Spoiler
That was a solid ending. Had a good time with this show. I just wish we would have had more scenes with them in the modern/real timeline. I have seen other shows do the same thing. The leads meet after coming back, the end. Just give me 15 minutes of them connecting and catching up. At any rate, well done to the cast and crew.

Most of Bailu’s drama were great. I enjoyed most of them. But I just feel this one is worst of her perhaps.…
I think they felt the cases would carry the series. I would have sacrificed two cases for the sake of character building.

Even though this show is pretty good I can’t help but feel Bai Lu’s characters writing and lack of character…
You hit on the biggest problem for this show. They didn’t put enough effort into developing the characters. You don’t see character growth which leads to a lack of a character journey. The characters are the same as they were in episode 1 as they are in episode 26. I don’t know if they just cut too much story or if it’s just poorly written. The cases are enough to keep me coming back but this doesn’t seem like a show I’ll rewatch. That’s sad because I love most of what Bai Lu and Wang Xinyue have done in the past.

I'm at episode 5. And I'm still not enjoying this. Is it just me? I feel the investigation stuff is not my thing,…
This one is heavy in the investigation area. I also feel they don’t do a great job expanding the characters outside of the cases. The ML also feels like a supporting character than a real ML. So don’t expect any romance over the next 20 episodes. But the cases are interesting. I like the show though. It falls between a 7.5 to 8.0 for me.

I'm at episode 23 and it’s not good at all. The writting is laking and unfortunately the ML is a complete miscast…
I don’t think he’s supposed to show emotion. His character is more of a Mr Spock type of character. Very analytical. Put that on top of that fact that this isn’t a romance drama and you get the interaction.

Title How Dare You!? Spoiler
I feel like Xie Yong Er's death was very unceremonious. I don't know if it's because of poor direction or censorship,…
I think they telegraphed it too much. In the previous episode you just knew it was coming. It was so obvious that she was going to die that it took away from the moment. I love that actress and that character so had they killed her unexpectedly, I’d have been devastated.

i don't know if I'm old or what. i cant follow with the slapstick comedy style
It is very slapstick comedy in the early episodes and I think that turned a lot people off. But I have to say as the show goes on it gets serious and even dark. But then it adds in the comedy and really balances it out in the later episodes. So the humor feels natural and organic. Not over the top.

You should hide this. That’s a major spoiler.

The emperor is just a disgusting, garbage human being.
Yes! He’s ruining the lives of these young girls. He’s at the center or at least adjacent to all that’s going on.

This is my first C‑drama in the detective genre, so I didn’t realize the format relies so much on characters…
A bit too much exposition imo. I rather there be more showing than telling. I’d rather find out what happened through the natural progression of the story than the suspect sitting down and telling me what happened.

Btw, if FL's father was the elder brother, why wasn't he the emperor?
Yes it does. If you’re first born to a concubine, you’re not going to be made crown prince if the emperor has a son to the empress, even if younger. Children of the empress would be of the first house and have a higher status over children from other women, no matter their age. This has held true across eastern and western cultures.

The only disappointing thing about this drama is that it clearly shows at times that some things were cut. Abrupt…
You can definitely tell a lot was cut. The editing is very abrupt at times. I also wonder if Inspector Gu had a lot of his scenes cut because I thought we would see a relationship between him and Wu Ren.

My question is why are you looking for chemistry in a drama that's not a romance?
There should still be chemistry even if it’s not a romance. You can have chemistry in an adventure. It’s just two actors being on the same page and their characters gelling.

I am convinced that it is the director and the script that dictated the poor reactions between the leads, since…
I think it’s how the characters are written in scrip. One of these characters needs to be the emotional fire. Right now we have a hard nosed detective with a hard shell vs a scientific thinker who is machine like. I think it’s difficult, though not impossible, to create that fire between these archetypes.

Might have to stop at ep 4 cause imagine your daughter tells you, you've seen her 3 times in EIGHTEEN YEARS and…
And then easily replaced her with another daughter.

Title Unveil: Jadewind Spoiler
I don’t think this is about wanting romance or big emotions. For me, it’s about interaction and partnership.…
The whole issue with the Xiao family (the dad) and potential wedding was a step in the right direction. That bit of agnst made the overall story much better imo.

Great point. I have said that I enjoy the cases but they need to do a better job balancing life outside the cases. So far, the ML has played an almost supporting role. He’s a competent character. They just need to raise his status in the story a bit.

That would be worth being angry about if I was Xiao overhearing her saying she was using him.
You make a good point. I have no doubt he would have went head first into the marriage. I think it’s a mixture. We don’t know the real reason why he hasn’t told her what he knows. That’s a part of the mystery. But there are no indicators, so far, that he is doing it out of malice. He is clearly trying to protect her.

I’m watching How Dare You as well and it works because one leans more comedic and the other has a more serious…
I will say the comedy kinda threw me off a bit because it was so silly. I like both the leads so I stuck with it. It took me about eight episodes and now I’m invested.
