Title Unveil: Jadewind Spoiler
I’m surprised we got a new case with only four episodes remaining. Hope they can wrap this up satisfactorily. It’s strange that the case seems to revolve around Consort Shu. Either she’s being targeted or she’s the real villain. The whole deal with the cult surrounding her birth is making me wonder about her. I hope she is good for Peiyi’s sake. It would suck for her to find out, after losing her family, that her adopted mother is bad guy.

And then you'd go down to prison to be executed and your family's honor wouldn't be restored. A waste of life…
I think that has been the theme. Look at goee we quickly the Consort Shu had to jump to her knees in front of the emperor because of his threat. And Peiyi was easily lost her title and job while the chancellor got to keep his. This show has been very consistent about the plight of women from top to bottom during the Tang Dynasty.

With that emperor she would have likely just been exiled and asked to copy an apology 100 times.

The way I was ready for Li Peiyi to smack the ML down and take her revenge, all consequences be damned. But even…
From a legal standpoint, XHJ was correct because they still needed hard evidence and they still need to clear Prince of Duan’s name. But sometimes a girl needs a ride or die. The emperor can’t be trusted to do right. So a little “street” justice was warranted. Sort the rest out later. He could have said, “I got your back, whatever you decide.”

OMG that fight scene was glorious! I was miffed it got interrupted, as well! And Bai Lu's acting on that scene…
I don’t know if they use stunt doubles but if not, Bai Lu is putting in work. The fight scenes in this series have been amazing.

I am disappointed with Pei Yi's plan in ep 29. She was not being smart at all....blinded by rage and thirst for…
Peiyi poisoning the whole council was definitely the nuclear option. I doubt anyone will come to any of her future parties. But she probably knew the emperor wouldn’t give her justice.

LoL! For a minute I thought he was poisoned. Then they say he is laying up due to heartbreak. Now Peiyi was really on death’s door because of the poison and here he is laying there like a diva because his feelings are hurt.

Isn’t right chancellor related to Consort Shu? They have the same last name. The emperor never punished anyone…
He is definitely complicit. It seems like the right chancellor is so powerful that outside of rebelling against the emperor, he’s untouchable.

I know this is a strong FL and Damselified ML kinda plot line, but idk if it's a personal thing or not, I just…
Exactly. They have basically made the ML into a eunuch. You can say they are reversing the roles but most FLs in dramas aren’t this sheepish. You can be smart and resourceful without being a wimp. They have made the audience question whether XHJ is too much of a wimp to be her husband/lover.

She needed a Ml that would Burn the world for her not this one
I think in this instance they made the ML too weak. You can have a strong FL without needing to nerf the man. Now they have him laid up being absolutely useless to the FL. The man doesn’t have to be a savage but a little backbone from your man is not a bad thing.

I get that killing the Right Chancellor isn't the morally right thing to do but HuaiJin could have let PeiYi stab…
From a moral standpoint I wouldn’t have a problem killing him. I think it’s more of a legal issue. What evidence do they have on him? No one heard him confess except Peiyi and her uncle. And they are two people who have a reason to see him go down. Any testimony they give would be considered bias. If it went to court he could just say he never said anything. They still have no hard evidence against him, even though everyone knows he did it. And they still have to clear Prince of Duan’s name.

Not much romance + slow-burn is concerning… but I love Bailu... Now what?
It’s a very very slow burn. You will not get anything significant until episode 28. So manage your expectations if you’re looking for romance. The show leans heavy into the cases.

I get he was trying to save her but it still feels like a betrayal. I see some saying she was hurtful to him because…
Xiao Huaijin might be a bit too soft hearted for a woman like Peiyi. Maybe she needs more of a manly man to be able deal with all the baggage she brings. I thought it was funny that we see him walk away then in the next scene he is laid up almost catatonic. Really? I’m sorry for being heartless but this series has shown women going through the worst traumas. Having XHJ laid up in bed, near death, over heartbreak is pretty weak.

What type of power does the Right Chancellor have to just get that slap on the wrist? The emperor just seems to be making excuses to not punish him. Then Peiyi poisons the whole court just to get to one man. Even she just loses a title. The Tang justice system is clearly a mess under this emperor.

WXY is a good actor. His next character has a livelier personality, but I really like his acting here too because…
Are you referring to his character in Love In Red Dust? That is another series I’m highly anticipating. He’s playing a more traditional ML in that series. It is good that he’s doing a variety of characters even though this is his third detective drama. Sometimes I feel like actors just play the same character in different series. Xiao Huaijin is very different from his more eccentric portrayal of Xiao Beming in The Wanted Detective or the dour Guan Cen from Shadow Detective. I will say I’m ready to see him in a modern drama.

I had high hopes for this drama but it's disappointing 😞in the area if romance. The ML and FL doesn't have any…
Are you talking about the actors or the character types. I think it’s interesting that they decided to put two analytic characters together. Normally you get a hot head ML or cold and aloof ML. That type is paired with an emotional or silly FL. In most cases you pair hot and cold. Pairing two “cold” types is a different choice. So I wonde if you are not feeling the character types or the actors. The actors appear to be playing the types well. You can tell LPY never had romantic feelings in her life. And XHJ needed an assist from his mom in this last episode. So you can tell that’s a character that has been sheltered in the astronomy lab most of his life. But I was just curious how people see it.

You guys are really optimistic considering every case has ended up with high body counts. I’ll be mad if one of the leads dies, especially after being granted marriage. But I have been conditioned to brace for the worse with these dramas.

The most blatantly romantic episode to date. This episode actually had me on the edge of my seat with the poisoning of LPY. Even though I knew she couldn’t die this early, I was still worried. I am still worried about the lingering effects of the poison in her heart. Also, being granted a marriage and getting the love confession from XHJ this early makes me think a tragic ending is in the works. I think a target will be put on the Xiao family now. Hope his mother and father don’t end up as collateral damage in all of this. It would not surprise me if one of the leads dies in the end, either before or after the marriage. The track record so far has been cases getting solved but with tragic outcome. I fear the same for LPY and XHJ.

i had this drama on my plan to watch list for quite a long time but idk if i should watch it..
My favorite cases are the first one with the princess, the second with the women being trafficked and then the case with the odd doctor (4th case I think).

Is it not good? Why is the rating 8.1? I wanted to watch this as I love the casts, but kinda afraid I'd be disappointed.…
When is an 8.1 considered bad? It might not be great but that should st least mean it’s watchable. Technically a 7.0 shouldn’t be considered bad.
