What about if both the ML and FL are supernatural and capable badasses? If so, Legend of Shen Li is a good one although it starts off a little slow. It does have a bit of a role reversal in that the ML is kind of domestic and although he’s a super badass he likes living like a domestic homebody lol.

He’s also insecure with abandonment issues, driven to that extreme because she’s been pulling away from him. Was it his smartest move? No, but he has trauma and pain about being abandoned. What he did was understandable, even if it wasn’t the smartest. We all also know that he’s got a self-destructive streak in him. Put his fear of abandonment together with self-destructive tendencies and there ya go lol.
Can someone tell me if episode 21 ends on a decent note with the leads? Debating on when to save a couple episodes because the upcoming teasers look a little rough.

Yeah. And I don’t hate it… but at the same time I think I would like it better if Duan Xu had his own stuff going on outside of her for a little more balanced character development. Like some development about Deliverance? Or some more investigation into Yan Ke? Or any more spirits that are connected to All Knowing? 🤷🏼♀️Idk
It looks like Duan Xu may be going back to the mortal world in the next few episodes and tbh I’m kinda looking forward to it? The Void arc is gorgeous an we got some wonderful scenes and GREAT development with He Simu, but I kinda miss Duan Xu being a General. They kind of reduced him to a lovesick lost puppy in the Void which makes some sense because there’s an incredibly large power imbalance and there is not a whole lot that Duan Xu can do in the void as a mortal. Like they couldn’t even let him legitimately win at gambling or archery. I kinda want him to get his own arc back. I preferred their dynamic in the mortal world, as he also had a purpose and they seemed more as equals (even though she was super powerful in the mortal realm too).
I think I am also ready for Duan Xu to get chased a little bit? I’m getting a little weary of the love being one-sided and unbalanced, and it being all about Duan Xu confessing over and over again and not having a solid purpose outside of being her lost puppy. I either want her to reciprocate, or for them to be separate for a while and let him have his own arc. There’s the war stuff, the politics stuff and they haven’t really developed a whole lot of the plot around Deliverance… which is a little frustrating because clearly it has a connection to the Void and he’s been there the last several episodes now.
Overall though I love this drama and am enjoying it!

I’m sure she will at some point, but she’s also like 385 years older than him, is used to ruling a world of unruly spirits with a lot of them who want her dead, she has never had any of the five senses in her whole life, and has known this guy for less than a year 😂 Maybe give her some time? lol. She likes him romantically to be sure, but she doesn’t realize it yet.
Can you recommend more dramas like Pursuit of Jade? I really loved the cinematography of this drama, not to mention…
“Blossom” is pretty good with the same director as PoJ. There’s also “Love Like the Galaxy”, with the same screenwriter as PoJ. You could check out “Are You the One” with similar themes of secret identity and FL who is trained in the martial arts. “Fated Hearts” is also really good with a true enemies to lovers romance (they torture each other in the first few eps lol) with two leads who are trained in the martial arts. 😊
