Haha, one of the main complaints about this drama was "not having enough politics". The drama is broken…
Ahhh I see what you’re saying. Makes sense. I never looked at it this way until you mentioned it. I never blamed her for keeping the passageway a secret. I will have to go back and watch it again with these thoughts in mind. I don’t remember the relationship being as one-sided though. I remember a lot of scenarios when he had her back, defended her and worked with her to outsmart the schemers. Hmm. Interesting. And he was petty with the scholar 😂 And he was pretty stellar when her extended family turned on him as well.
So is this story based on a novel? Does anyone know much about the romance in this one? The synopsis on this page doesn’t share a whole lot about the plot. Like do we know if there is gonna be a love triangle, or lots of deception / secret-keeping? Any intel on the ending?

Interesting, as in never saw the FL as the one who carried the relationship. Of course she did in the beginning because she was trying to win him over and keep her people safe, but I never perceived their relationship later on as unbalanced.
👀 I dunno why people always say this to me 😂 Legend of Shen Li, When Destiny Brings the Demon and Moonlight Mystique are a few xianxias off the top of my head that don’t follow these tropes. The blood spitting, however, is a thing 😂
Edit: I mean there’s minor secret keeping in LoSL as we talked about, but not a whole lot :)
Dramas these year are hell bent on forcing obsessive delusional SMLs on the viewers, it seems. Shadow Love, Moonlit…
At least with Fated Hearts the SML was only in a few episodes with the FL in the beginning of the show and never again until… like the last episode lol. I wouldn’t compare the delusional SML in LITC to the one in Fated Hearts. There was never this much back and forth in FH, and I wouldn’t even classify FH as a love triangle for how little they interacted. Just my two cents 🤷🏼♀️
I agree. Although there were women fighters back in the days but the amount of modern characteristics in these…
Yeah, that’s sometimes the issue I have with some historical Chinese shows. I think that was some of my issue with LotFG being ‘preachy’ at times. Having the FL tell a group of women that “they can do anything a man can do” probably wouldn’t fly in that day and age.
