So I fully acknowledge that this is a question that is completely from ignorance. But I thought that same-sex romance is censored in Chinese media? Have there been shifts in that? I recall hearing that the show “Untamed” was censored by the Chinese government to remove the romantic elements between the male leads. I am looking at this show, and seeing another Cdrama “ABO Desire” that seems to feature a same-sex couple. Am I totally off base in thinking that China was pretty strict in that regard? Thanks for helping me understand :)
im on episode 20 and kinda scared to continue because of that amnesia part :(
Yes! I highly encourage you to keep going! This amnesia plot is incredibly sweet, and it does not go as they usually go in other shows. She does not treat him poorly, and as soon as they are reunited she is curious about him. It’s really good!
Now let me be a bit shallow and say that I prefer or ML to have gray hair - he looked really cool with them 🤭
I love the FL 😂 She gets some great development, but I adore her “go with the flow” attitude and her appreciate for the finer things in life - like food lol
I love this show so much! I am on my rewatch with my partner and ugh I am still having all the feels!
Yeah! Some may call it “open”, but I 💯 saw it as a happy ending and don’t understand how others were left with doubt. It was abrupt, but that’s pretty common with cdramas.
Shadow Love is the only one that’s coming to mind right now. WDBtD is also up there for me with The Prisoner…
Which I also recommended? Lol. I also said it depended on what she liked about WDBtD. Shadow Love had lots and lots of romance and skinship which was similar, the blood pact as a type of bond, and a consistent couple throughout the show, etc. No they aren’t the same, but there are some similarities. All of this is also subjective to the viewer, too. I LOVED WDBtD but did NOT like LBFaD. Well, the last 60% anyway. 🤷🏼♀️
This was one that I picked up because what the hell, but then it became one of my favorites very unexpectedly…
Nah they don’t break up, but there is a little bit of a falling out over a secret that’s kept. It doesn’t drag out long at all, though, if I remember right 😊
I avoided this because I thought it was a makjang, but oh my god. I am loving it. It's fun and relaxing. Very…
This was one that I picked up because what the hell, but then it became one of my favorites very unexpectedly 😂 Loved the romance between the leads and their skinship.
Guys are there ANY similar dramas to this?? Pls replyy
Shadow Love is the only one that’s coming to mind right now. WDBtD is also up there for me with The Prisoner of Beauty (different genre) as my two favorite Asian shows. You might also like Legend of Shen Li, Wonderland of Love or Blossom. I guess it depends on what you love most about this show. If it’s the insane amount of sensuality and skinship, then Wonderland of Love also has a lot. If it’s the steady development of the romance, lack of unnecessary drama, angst and love triangles etc. then Prisoner of Beauty is the best comparison (we also get a few sexy 🔥 scenes in TPoB). Legend of Shen Li also has some wonderful romance and a bit of sensuality, and not as much dumb drama as other shows. Blossom I watched a LONG time ago, so I don’t remember much. I do remember that the couple was great and both leads were capable. I actually plan on rewatching Blossom. If you like intense psychological thrillers AND steady romance, then I highly recommend the Kdrama Flower of Evil. It’s heavy on both and probably my favorite Asian show just under WDBtD and TPoB. Cdramas like Coroner’s Diary and Moonlight Mystique both have a main couple that remain steady and committed to each other throughout the whole show (and both have the same actor as the ML). I loved both of those shows. Journey to Love is also a great one, but if you’re particular about how shows end I would do some research into that one first. A LOT of people also LOVED Love Between Fairy and Devil. Personally I loved the first part, but skipped much of the latter half because there was sooooooooo much angst and an annoying af love triangle. If neither of those things bother you, you will probably love that one.
The last minute angst made no sense, the emperor choosing to take his two very loyal and happy generals and thrust…
The biggest complaints with this show were the last few episodes. It was dumb and unnecessary 🙄Like if they had sown seeds about the empower being uncomfortable with two generals getting romantically involved a lot earlier in the show it would have been different. It should have had more buildup, not just tossed into the last episode without much thought or development. 🤦🏼♀️
Im on episode 13 where she go to ML soul manor. Im kinda confuse 😅 Does something happen to them outside every…
So because of Chinese censorship, they had to be pretty vague about episode 13. From my understanding and from what I have seen from others who have read the novel is that visiting each others Soul Manors is a verrrry intimate act, even more so than sex. But both SJ and Tingyan were in a temporary spiritual purgatory of sorts when she healed his Soul Manor. So in essence, in episode 13 their intimacy was purely spiritual and not actually physical because they were in a purgatory space when it all happened. It is kinda confirmed later on back in their normal world.
