Sorry Iâm ruthles but no matter how much I like the CP or even the individual I look first at the story telling. I think no one does this like Danmei writers - Killer and Healer and Nirvana in Fire, but these two Thai BL writing teams for MSP and TSWL impressed me the most in some years in terms of Thai BL. Interestingly TSWL is clearly aimed at Danmei fans who havenât had any new content since K&H and superior writing is part of the expectation with that fandom.

@Mmicc Ok this is what Iâm finding also. The acting is good but the screenplay and the script doesnât sparkle at all. I was shocked people are giving it 10 and even putting it after the Untamed! Iâm giving up at Ep 7. Even as a low-stakes watch I canât persevere with this one til the end.
I feel like this is a persistent issue with Sammonâs Novel adaptations; not sure what the quality of the original novels are but Triage, Manner of Death and certainly Bite Me all fell down with extremely weak screenplays that suffered from a lack of clarity, wit and dramatic intensity; no wonder the sexual tension also fell flat in all three. I say this as a serious MaxTul stan, a supporter of Tae and Tee since 2Moons, and someone who was really rooting for Mark Siwat for the unfortunate, unfinished business of LBC and who had great chemistry with his ML for the first half of BM.
Anyway luckily weâve had two outstanding series in the last six months, To Sir With Love and the just concluded My School President to remind us great writing is the source of all good things in BL and I sincerely hope we see more like them as 2023 goes on because 2021-2022 have not been good years for quality in Thai BL despite the numbers of series being produced with good cinematography and reasonably good actors across the board.
I wish Tae and Tee better luck next time with a more accomplished scriptwriter and a Director with a more arresting vision

@Cucjute yes of course I didnât mean to alienate all western viewers but Iâm saying that angry, entitled review is very much a Western perspective when the method of storytelling doesnât match what is done at home closely enough and it gets rejected without really giving the thing a chance.
This is part of a larger conversation that is also happening among media observers of Disney, the MCU et cetera as more and more dumbed down content creates greater demand for more of the same predigested pap that leans into the familiar, including familiar prejudices, and this is really killing art. We can see how many BLs came out this year specifically targeting non Asian market tastes, and well âŠ
On a positive note Khun Chai really did well in China for the reasons I suggested above and less than a week after the finale they announced their next BL collaboration for 2023 - even before the subtitles were added to episode 17 đ (never before achieved in Thai BL history) and JamFilm are now the only trending CPs in the top five trending couples who are not Chinese as well as being the most booked Thai BL CP for 2022 Christmas season.
Theyâre a hit with the primary audiences, as well as sophisticated viewers from elsewhere which I think is a great measure of success. Su su!

I've seen up to Ep 5 and end each one clapping loudly over the closing credits. Its got all the BL tropes obviously except for skinship
Wandee is simply not in the same league but I expected that to be exactly as it is.
HSROAG is the best queer story I've seen out of Korea in years and it even surpasses my old Watcha fave Semantic Error
