young cop could've been utilized in that scenario as well. old detective could've been offed earlier (like around ep 2-3) and he investigates Sanyoung/professor. him and Semi keep in touch since both are suspicious of Sanyoung. in one of those ghost subplots, Semi gets saved by him and Sanyoung. they all form an unlikely quartet
His character and acting both became great after the senior detective died.
it's just that cops part was taking up so much screentime and still wasn't connected well with main leads. this trio or quartet could've been formed like 3-4 eps ago imo but whatever the only time his acting felt iffy was in the scene when senior detective just got killed or jumped
