I've always said that Anne Rice has a lot to answer for with a healthy dash of blame to Charlaine Harris as well.…
+1 for Moonlight. Though I do wonder if it aged well, since I was very young when I saw it.
I would also recommend The Originals (shows the moral ambiguity of vampires, who can't understand human value anymore) and Van Helsing, 2016 (it's based on a graphic nove and has though this one offers a more raw version of vampires, rather than the romantized one).
Thanks! Also same! I had to have my friend push me to watch it but it's pretty interesting
Having watched it, I agree! I went in without looking at the tags, so I was surprised, lol. There's almost a surreal feel to the second arc of the movie that was very interesting.
Really creative article. I have watched only some of these, others are now in my PTWL. I had intended to watch The Handmaiden movie for a while, so this article pushed me to do so today. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the review ! i am glad to read it.Yes the Love triangle was really the worst for me too. What a shame…
Thanks for reading and commenting, @Duncan! I agree with you. I think the writers gave Jun Ho the short end of the stick --treatment-wise. In fact, had he stayed with Roo Da, it would've been a relationship based on lies. After all, he felt that she connected with him on a unique level because she told him what he wanted to hear... except that she only did so because of the time-loops. So, in a way, Jun Ho got deceived by Roo Da and, therefore, fell in love with a person who didn't exist. So I'm glad they didn't end up together.
I also think that the writers could've given us a reason why Roo Da started dating him. Because, as it stands, the decision felt very materialistic. After all, she decided to date him right after finding out he was the CEO's nephew and the owner's grandson.
It's a shame that all the growth Jun Ho got during the last loop-hole was undone by the reset. He became CEO after all and took part in ensuring his grandfather's company wasn't lost to his uncle's schemes. Yet that didn't matter in the end, since the reset took away all of his growth.
I am already skeptically about OCN decision to air two drama about devil in such a short period and apparently…
Picked this series up a couple of weeks ago and I've just finished episode 9. My impression so far is that the medical aspect is almost non-existent. The lead female character is a doctor and the first 4 episodes (more or less) happen in or near a hospital. That would be the extent of it. Hospital being used as a setting more than this being a medical drama.
As to the crime aspect... I'd say this one also falls short on that. This is just about a small team (two priests, a woman sort of manager, an old detective close to retirement and a playboy hacker kid) who perform exorcisms. All the cases so far seem to revolve around the female lead, which is why they happen near or in the hospital.
Your article actually convinced me to give this a chance and I’m glad I watched it. So thank you! I really enjoyed…
Thank you very much for letting me know, @filovedrama! I'm glad you enjoyed the drama! I agree that it starts slow, though I've found must dramas do. I think I really got hooked by episode 7-8 more or less. And, like you, I didn't quite mind the office scenario since it did so many other things great!
Finished it recently. It wasn't bad, just again, like too many dramas, there is too much focus on office politics.…
Thank you for reading, @Antonin. You are correct, the office setting plot was weak, which is why i added it under flaws to consider. Though I wasn't bothered so much by it since the story still satisfied me in the character growth and accountability department. I will take a good story even if it's not incredibly original, over something original but horribly executed (like Lovely Horribly was, for example).
Hey, I don't know if anyone noticed this, but there is a clip from Chief Kim in the second episode of Feel Good…
I remember they emphasized that clip but, unfortunately, I haven't watched Chief Kim so I wouldn't know. I do have that series in my PTWL since so many people recommend it.
What a well thought and organized review, if I hadn't already watched, i would just because of your review. I…
Thank you so much, @Anita! I am glad you enjoyed the review and the show. I agree, this drama surprised me in a good way various times throughout! A perfect drama to end 2018!
Thank you very much for reading, @aft3rgal3r! If you're still interested in the show, my advice would be to give…
I think I decide on my rating more based on how consistent the story was. Personally, I'll rate a simple story high if it was done successfully, than I would an ambitious story that took risks but which failed to tell the story properly.
For romances specifically, I tend to rate them better if the relationship portrayed was healthy vs a toxic one. I give it even more points if there's balance of power between the couple as opposed to one having all the power (call it influence, money, success, perfect traits, etc.) while the other just... exists.
It’s for that reason that when I review a show, I add a "portrayal of romance" section and talk about this a bit. This is just in case someone's like me and doesn't care for toxic relationships. Probably the most toxic relationship portrayed in the K-drama's I've watched is "Noble, my Love". I mean, we get a man stripping the person he "loves" of of all her power consciously and systematically. That one was scary to watch and all I felt was that the female lead was slowly being entrapped.
Of course, plenty of other romance shows (not just Kdramas) tend to portray an unhealthy relationship. Wherein the man is super possessive of the woman, for example. I find that off putting, but there's so many series that show this, that it stands to reason there's a big market for this sort of fiction.
Thank you, @Lawyerh! I am happy to know you enjoyed the drama as well! I should've added that this was a binge…
Yeah, you aren't alone in finding her sudden interest for KJH inconsistent. The cynical part of me couldn't help but notice she changed her mind about him precisely when she discovered she was the owner's grandchild.
Thank you very much for the support, @Penel! Yeah, tbh, I struggled to find real flaws with the show. Save for…
Oh, I'm a coffee addict myself! It's been second since my last coffee and I'm already craving another. I actually can't write anything if I don't have a coffee cup next to me. I call it my creative drink.
Just finished this series! Def my favorite this winter, I wasn't sure after the first episode but the second one…
Thanks so much for your comment, @Locksters! I agree with you, this one is a top 2018 drama for sure! "Come and Hug Me" still takes the top spot this year for me, but this one is for sure inside my top 5!
Im buying ,gonna add it to my watch list thank you
Thanks for reading, @Lustdrama! I'm glad you've added this one to your watch list. I think you'll be thoroughly surprised by the show's execution of their story. If possible, let me know what you think about it!
Thank you, @Lawyerh! I am happy to know you enjoyed the drama as well! I should've added that this was a binge…
I followed it since it released as well, but I did re-watch some of the earlier episodes with a friend as well. That's how it became apparent that this is not only a binge-watchable show, but it also has high re-watch value as well!
And YES! That moment in Garibong Franchise where BJS understands that he's not an island and he needs help... it took me by surprise with its sincerity. That's the moment that I really knew this one was a special drama.
Thanks so much for the well written articles to give this drama justice they deserved. It was my favourite drama…
Thank you, @Lawyerh! I am happy to know you enjoyed the drama as well! I should've added that this was a binge watchable show! There are some that's better to pace yourself, but this one is just light enough that you can watch several episodes a night I think!
And yes, WWWSK is the only show I have reviewed without having completed it. I got to episode 12 and I just couldn't anymore. I had been muscling through most of the series, but it was too cheesy and fluffy for me. I like my stories with a side of romance, not the other way around lol.
-Hi, thanks for the article! Very well written and concise too. I completed the drama this weekend in almost 48…
Thank you so much for the comment, @Sky! I am happy you gave the drama a chance and that you enjoyed it so much.
You are right! The props for the writing should definitely go to the drama's scriptwriting since this was a different story than the webtoon. I am glad the writer integrated accountability into the story, because that drove the characters' growth and change.
I also agree that the relationship between BJS and LRD was portrayed very down to earth despite the absurdities they faced with the time loop. I especially love how she reacted when he confessed his feelings. She didn't berate him, ignored him or questioned him. Instead she listened and said that she understood that sometimes it's hard to put into words why we like someone. Even if she didn't return his feelings then, she was very respectful of his love and very mature in her response. I loved it.
Couldn't help but compare it to the disastrous way the FL in Wok of Love dealt with the 2ML's confession. She took cruelty to the next degree in my eyes.
As someone who hates love triangles with a passion (especially the ones where the ml is ambivalent about his/her…
Thanks for reading, @HafsaMohammed. I think the humor outweighs the love triangle fiasco. Though I mentioned the triangle is present for most of the drama, it's still a subplot of the actual story. As such, I think you can still enjoy the story despite how weak the second male lead has been written.
If you do decide to give the show a try, let me know what you think about it!

Happy 2019 to you as well!
