Kudos for your amazing (is it really your first?!) article and the effort you put on this! :)I enjoyed all the…
Thank you so much, Penel. It is indeed my first article, though frankly my reviews could be considered mini articles based on their length, lol. Yes, I've found that a strong start a sizzling middle and an uninspired ending seems to be the standard for most dramas, so I thought it best to add "flaws to consider" to keep people's expectations realistic.
Come and Hug Me was an exception to the rule for me. The story was always engaging, the characters were amazing but where it truly shined was in it's cinematography. So I think it'd be interesting to give some examples of the marvelous things it did and how the setting, lights, camerawork and framing contributed to the storytelling. I'm glad you find the idea interesting :).
I can't see some images on your article. It says, "image not found or was removed". Nevertheless, this drama looks…
Thanks, I do recommend this drama despite its flaws :). As to the images, I'm unsure why you aren't able to see some of them. I double checked the place where I uploaded them and they are still all there. I can also see all of them in the article, so perhaps there's something else that's interfering?
What can I say?! This was the most most most amazing article that I ve read until now. Your description, choosing…
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I did spend a lot of time taking and choosing the screenshots and editing the gifs to better reflect what I was saying, but it was fun. Yes, the visual artistry of this show was marvelous!
I may tackle an article on the visual artistry of "Come and Hug Me", where the attention to detail and symbolism puts this one to shame. That one was a master piece for me! Or I could also write an article detailing some general "visual cues" used in Korean dramas to convey meanings (which you can find implemented in almost every drama).
This drama wasnt that good, I ended up dropping it at episode 23. If you want something similar, The Guest is…
I do have "The Guest" in my PTWL and I have heard good things (so I'm looking forward to it). Though I can't say whether it's better than this one yet, I can say I did enjoyed watching "The Ghost Detective". It's not a perfect drama, like I explained in the article (and it reflects on my overall rating), but I still think this one is worth a watch. The visual artistry in itself makes it worthwhile for me.
An amazing article and analysis!I watched this drama until the end and enjoyed it a lot. The characters and the…
Thank you for your comment! I agree, those things were my favorites as well and I also agree that this drama has gone under the radar of the community. This article actually started as a "currently watching" (hoping to incite people to watch it) but by the time I finished the airing episodes and wrote the review, there was only one week of episodes left. So I ended up re-writing some parts and waited for it to end to submit it as a "drama recap" of sorts.
me too tbh but there isn't too many episodes left so I'll just keep watching, I just stopped really focusing on…
Yeah, same. I think it got too drawn out probably because they needed to fill the time. But it hasn't gotten so bad to drop yet. So I will stick with it and hope it picks up soon. After the latest episode, things seem promising (since they are refocusing on the heart of the show).
That part with the video was too much. Ok that the son caught him eating a pill, but no way he could record what…
I am thinking that he won't take any in his fight against Min Woo because he would want to win against him fair and square.
What I do like so far, is that most of the characters here (including Yi Cheol) aren't technically good. They are instead a mix of Grey. After all, he did cheat by taking those pills, beating people who had struggled with effort and skill to get to where they are. So some form of punishment would be fair in that regard. I understand why the fighter took the video to the authorities. Imagine someone winning against you in that way. I would've preferred if Yi Cheol had won that fight without using the pill.
I knew the video would cause trouble for them. Now look what happened they are all suspicious and the fighter…

And I agree. I hope there's a way to save him from the toxins.
Wow... I am completely obsessed with this drama... it's been a long time I fell in love with a drama like this...On…
I agree, I was pleasantly surprised to learn he was trying to get rid of Lee Soo Yeon to keep him out of possible danger. It added a layer of complexity to his character for sure.
This is a drama that started weak for me, but it's getting better and better with each episode.
I was hesitant to start this one since there's seems to be a lot of mixed feelings in the comments. Just finished episode 7 and I'm hooked right now (hopefully I'll stay that way). The characters are all shades of grey, which is always refreshing. Everyone is flawed, yet still decent enough that you aren't turned off (so far).
But probably the thing I appreciate the most is the use of music. It's really powerful and is effectively used to lead up to really impactful (visually) moments.
Still enjoyed the drama, despite all its flaws and stumbles. As such, I still recommend it. However, I did expect a proper ending, so that was a bit unsatisfying. As it stands, it feels like the ending is actually the pilot for a season 2 in disguise (though there's no news whether there will be a season 2 or not).
I think this movie was okay. The action scenes were great, but I found myself yawning quite a few times. I think that if I wasn't a fan of the manga (& anime), I might've not finished this because it started so slow. As it stands, I gave it an 8/10 but mostly for the love I hold for the source material.

Kill me, Heal me (although not quite a gender bender) was hilarious!
