Itazura Na Kiss with the same sadist masochist type relationship is still popular, has lot of versions and remakes are still airing. There will always be people who like their own different style of dramas I guess.
Show was good till ep10 even with the dumb decisions on the part of the ex of each main lead and the misunderstandings. Then came the last 5 episodes which were the typical Asian drama crazy cliches making it plain annoying .
The main pair matched very well which is the biggest plus of this drama.
She does not mind the family using her as long as they make her feel accepted and loved. She kind of lives like an outcast who was most likely adopted by the grandmother. She can't leave them.
No they don't, the drama became terrible at the end. Both male leads were miserable suffering almost for the entire period of drama. In the end no one is either happy or alive.

A detective is an investigator ( tied to law enforcement ) who investigates crime, who finds evidence and then presents it to the prosecutor who based on rules and available discretion goes to present it to court or drop it.
A prosecutor is a position which is considered higher than detective both in terms of job and in the eyes of society.
American TV show "Law and Order" shows this interaction between law enforcement/detectives and prosecution very well.
Story is similar to Saiunkoku Monogatari, strong female lead who goes into the governance route ( from underdog to top levels using intelligence/wits ) while the king/emperor/prince loves her.
Good romance, political drama, evil competition etc but got boring in the second half
First half of the series was very good with entertaining characters (whether good or evil) especially Vicki Zhao.
Then came the second half where characters turned annoying and irritating. Main male lead and second female lead turned the drama into a frustrating drag mode. The supporting cast love triangle was much better than the main cast one. Main reason for a weaker second half was the shift of story from a messed up family point to annoying love triangle forced in.
One thing that was really good in this drama was the main female lead would not take shit from anybody and would fight eye for an eye. Yi Ping and Du Fei are the only important characters who did not change character with mood swings, they stayed true throughout the drama or I would have dropped this.
I think Choi Go Bong has only 49 days to live (Based on the message from cell phone) he will fix his relations with his son , repay Ha Soo and her family , solve the money in trunk case, punish the baddies and then finally rest in peace.
