I get it! I prefer happy endings. If it's going to be a sad ending it had better be awesome to make up for it.

The more one lives, the more one needs some happy endings because this world is sad.

Sisyphus was my #1 gateway Kdrama. I thoguht it was really well done, and it's time travel. I keep hoping for a S2. S1 does not necessarily have a happy ending. We'll see.

They got slightly sloppy with the time travel rules and left some questions unanswered. I happen to love rime-travel but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a TT feature that didn't have issues. Because i like the genre, i give it a long leash to wander around.

I saw one reviewer who opined that it shouldn't take 16 episodes to learn when and how to cross the street, okay, that's fair. But i still liked this one quite a bit, and i love the leads and the director,

This is among the first Kdramas i watched. It blew me away. The congressman's wife gives a legendary performance. This show is a big reason i got hooked on Asian programming. I wasn't doing reviews or taking notes yet, so I'd have to watch it again to review it, but... WOW. My niece is also crazy about it.

This show is a masterpiece in which every scene connects to another, every line of dialogue points to something else, and it's simply joyous.

Ep1 is slow but i was hooked by the last scene when she f,ips chef.
The 4 leads in this are spectacular amd 4 of my favs. Lee Jung-Eun (the shaman) is my favorite actress right now, Kim Seul-Gi is amazing, Cho Jung-Seok is a legend, and Park Bo Young just might be a legend, too.

The same writer penned Familiar Wife-8.5, which surprised me with its depths.

He's about as beautiful as a man can be in this show! I know this is a low challenge tomance, but i LOVE IT and I've watched it twice. I just forward through the flashbacks. This is exactly what my poison is. Anyone who says it's low IQ and dopey - well /know that!/ and yet i love it.

Agreed. I always check ratings but never reviews prior to watching. Anything under a 7.3 on MDL is highly unlikely to be any good. I check IMDb and Awiki too. I'd say Asian drama fans are pretty generous, overall.

And some would even deny that it is a romance. When it comes to emotional satisfaction, how a show works with our strengths, weakness, experiences and our "baggage " is all part of it.

Okay not to be Okay is arguably a masterpiece. DDOS isn't anywhere near that level of story telling. I'll put Its Okay,That's Love on my queue!

People are like spokes on a wheel. We are all coming from different places. The goal is tomall kove to the center, but some orefer to lie tomthe,selves and believe they're perfect right where they are. The irony is that the shows they claim to love so much completely reject their behavior. 🙄

One reason i haven't done the review is that it will be lots of work. I've rated it an 8.9. It's about family, and a bunch of people who are flundering and they get moving again. It's a romance, but that isn't its value.

The same author wrote My Mister, which is one of the best things I've EVER seen.

My Mister is even better. MLN is not the 2nd coming, it's just a really well done show.

In mwy book this barely made it across the threshold to a 7. It isn't the story that carries it as much as the subject matter. If mental illness hasn't touched your life, it wouldn't resonate as much. I think the plot and romance are mostly forgettable, so you aren't wrong! I have no desire to rewatch it.

WIFTY is cuteness overload. Same author as Hidden Love. I'm certain you would like it.

I found reviews corrupted my watch experience so i don't read them until after I've completed watching and have written mine (unless I need clarifications or help with understanding something).

Agreed! The theme of forgiveness can be a difficult pill. I love this show. I hadn't connected it to MLN so I'll have to give it some thought. Both are slower paced and involve a deep dive into introspection. Both involve successful on the outside but tortured on the inside MLs and intelligent but feisty go-getting FL's... hmmm. MLN is more of a manifesto.

Btw, please don't hate me over Hidden Love and When I Fly Towards You. I really do love them. I will rewatch them. I just felt their simplicity lowered the maximum score - they are food for the heart but not much for the head. That's FINE! In my scoring, 7's are VG. CLOY is a blast, but i could never give it a 10 because it lacks complexity. There's things I've rated in the 7's that I've enjoyed more, and will rewatch before things I've rated 8 and up. My ratings don't translate into my alll-time personal favs list.

Agreed! OMG suffers from a slow ep1, but it's a masterpiece, amd i can prove it. Given the 10k character limit, I actually have 3 reviews up on IMDb (they won't permit that anymore, 1 is the limit now). I just couldn't fit it all in. 10k characters It has no wasted dialogue- every word points to something else. I have to condense it all for my MDL review. I will eventually. I was too sick to write for a couple years. I took copious notes, but I'm really behind in my writing. I hope to get it all done eventually....

TWTW Blows is really brilliant except for some awful elements. I will watch it again, too. The good is exceptional and the bad doesn't erase that.

Thank you for the encouragement! Between here and IMDb I've had a rash of negative fb and it can get discouraging. I was always a movie buff, but never a TV watcher until i became very ill. I just stayed too busy before (doing a whole lot of nothjng) to watch lots of TV. Now, that's all i have. I hardly have the energy to read. I've been writing to keep my brain active, but, naturally, I long to make connections with others who love Asian programming as much as I've come to.

The technical and emotional aspects of a show are both important, and i try to pay attention to both in my scoring. At the end of the day, it is how it touches the heart that matters most, and that is different for every individual. I've noticed there's some mean girls and self-appointed hall monitors on MDL. I joke to myself about the Chinese mafia - the Chinese entertainment fans are ROUGH. So many of the shows are against bullying and suppression of the individual, it is too ironic, isn't it? Some of these dames aren't internalizing or learning anything!

We like what we like. As ong as it's legal and doesn't hurt anyone, no one should tell us we're wrong. We are each entitled to our form of mindless/wind-down entertainment.

Well Intended Love features a ML who pulls a horrible stunt. Many can't forgive him for it. He did something completely wrong for "good" reasons. Since he loves the FL so completely i could let it slide, but many women cannot, and i won't say they're wrong. It's a very goofy show, but i think it's fun.
