I'm sooo glad that Song Yi got this role.
She's exactly whom I'd envisioned as Liu Yuru...

In the novel, MY doesn't die after watching SJ dissipate. He instead carries her broken clam shell and travels around the world looking for ways to repair it and somehow revive her. Eventually, he gives up and instead willingly drains his cultivation by living through his memories with SJ over and over again in a loop for thousands of years. That's how TTJ and the rest find him. He's a lot more pathetic than drama MY... but then he was even worse of an asshole in the novel...so it's karma I guess.
I'm glad that they improved him in the drama.

In the novel, she feels something towards him after the dream, but doesn't realise it completely till she dies…
Nah.
She kinda already knew, but was consciously ignoring it, cause she was afraid of jeopardising her mission. Her whole family and sect, and the rest of the world hanged in balance after all.

Noo why Tian huan died I have my regrets I wanted to slap her in the face real hard to imprint my palm in her…
In the novel, Sang Jiu burns her for 49 days straight 🀣🀣🀣

She becomes his concubine after the war is over due to Sheng Emperor ordering YBC to go in place of the 7th Royal…
It becomes the deciding factor in her decision to remove TTJ's evil bone. Until then, she'd been unconsciously waffling about it....

Not that she was unwilling or anything. She milks it very well, in fact. Xiao Lin had just died, and she was on the lookout for the next big tree to wind herself around.

People who have read the novels, is there going to be any angst for the first CP because of the SFL? I would hate…
Yep, they do.
But at that point, Xiwu/Susu is already expecting it, and uses it as her final move.
And it's not even because TTJ actually likes her(SFL- Ye Bingchang) or anything... it was more of a strategic move for him, cause he thinks she(Ye Xiwu) is hiding an elite force from him, and wants to use it as a move to force them out. He always thinks that he's the one in control, so he was certain that YXW wouldn't be in any actual danger.

The humour is really on point πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. The scenes with the Earth Emperor and his Chancellor were pure gold 🀣🀣🀣

This drama was absolutely adorable πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή.I'm so glad that despite all the cliched tropes, they managed to make it this good.. Particularly the main leads and their best friends.... the romance and their interactions were top notch. I spent half of the time squeeling at the absolute adorability of their interactions πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί.
Another thing I really loved about the drama was how they made it obvious without making it blatant that Chen Mo and Gao Yunlang were together πŸ₯Ή.

Also.. Alchemy of Souls is story of Naksu not Jinbuyeon to begin with ..what's wrong with lead getting her happy…
IKR???
And maybe this is a bit mean, but all of this began precisely because Jin Hogyeong used the soul stone to save Buyeon when she died as a foetus. And that in turn destroyed Cho Yeong's life. Although, Jang Uk would not have been born then either I suppose.

I figured out why I liked this so much, since plot-wise, it's nothing special. The thing is, both main leads interact and talk like real people. You can easily figure out the reasoning and logic behind their actions, because they behave like normal people do. So, although the plot might be contrived, their interactions feel extremely natural, and thus, its very relatable.
The character Lu Zhaoxi in particular, is so unlike the classic asshole male lead. He treats the female lead like she is a person, and not just his love interest. Even Ye Shilan- she's definitely not the usual dumb and ditzy female lead, who apparently cannot function without a man. There's reason and logic behind their every action, that's consistent with their personalities. So yes, the script is definitely well-written.
The only other drama that felt this real, was the kdrama Run On- one of my all time faves. Let's hope Hi Venus maintains this same level of quality until the end.

It was going soo well tooo.
Were the showwriters high when they wrote the final ep?
I was cringing sooo hard from second hand embarassment for the actors....
Especially the Chanmi-Jaeboem confrontation scene...
WTF was that. The least they could have done was expand on the foursome between Osung, Jaeboem, Sejin and Wonsoek.
