I became her fan through Ashes of Love and follow her dramas ever since. Yang Zi was 24-25 when she stars in Ashes of Love and her acting there is *chef kiss*. You should give it a try!!! It's my most favorite xianxia of all time. Ya, she follows through with a few more of these innocent/pure roles and it was a big hit too, I just think that you're not a fan of these type of characters as described above.
Yang Zi challenge herself to more mature roles like The Psychologist, Love Endures, Best Choice Forever, Lost You Forever, etc and she nails everyone of them. When it comes to acting, no one can deny that living the life of that character.

Reasons why Jin Yan isn't as famous is because her projects aren't a hit back-to-back. She rose to fame after Yanxi Palace, but it dies down because her other dramas just isn't as impactful. If you take Yang Zi for example, she rose to fame (internationally) through Ashes of Love, then Go Go Squid, Oath of Love, etc and has many sucessful drama with big co-stars.
Hopefully The Double and Kill Me Love Me can be her break through internationally. She really does best in costume dramas!! Love her!!

It's pretty fascinating if you pay attention to the details in their interactions. The ML says one thing, and FL will use it against him haha. Having a strong, independent FL is what really fascinated him. He really admires that she "doesn't" need help from anyone to escape from THOSE EVIL people's schemes and always get out of tricky situations.

I don't really care that you don't like this drama because of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but stating that C-drama are simply getting "worse" in terms of directing or acting in "The Double" comment section is making me LAUGH. Sadly, if you don't like something doesn't mean it's not good or chinese drama are getting "worse." Some genre just doesn't fit your taste doesn't mean you gotta criticise the entire industry. Many people here, including myself think that this drama is one of the best one this year. It even broke 10k heat index. The drama is doing well in both China and globally too..
