havent watched yet, i get your point. But at the same time I think if you chose to act in a romance drama the very least you can do is a kiss. After the audience has suffered through 100000000+ episodes thats the least. Its not like R rated nudity and a full on s*x scene, a kiss is a realistic requirement. Anyhow, cdramas are like that so it is what it is.
OK this drama was cute for what it was, more slice of life than overt romance... the ending was dragged out, but thats true for most dramas. One thing I dont get is why is it in Asian dramas if the 'study' abroad they 'food was bad and they only ate fast food the whole time' its too exaggerated, esp. in Chinese drama/ books. I dont know if its the Chinese censorship, but its like the only was to show Chinese pride is to force the narrative that everything else is inferior and that the west hate the Chinese- its really uncalled for imo. Anyway, cute drama, cute clean teen romance.
Oh curly hair, glass and tanned skin- must be the ugly girl.... When will this stereotype ever end? Honestly what is so good about looking white, its not like you will become a white person anyway.
6.5/10 I like that the writers had respect for the audience and didn't drag the whole drama out for 50+ episodes until we wanted to vomit blood, like other CDramas! lol The editing of this drama was a joke, I lost count of how many light bulb glares were in shots throughout the episodes and in one scene there was a red light bulb and wires in the background close up (really, come on increase the editing budget! haha) The stupidity of the FL is on a whole other level, to the point which I wonder how she managed to live this long. If the ML was so attractive, I probably would have dropped the drama at episode 1 because the character is so 2D. The second ML obviously has never hard of bros before hoes (its a joke relax) and I honestly think him and the FL deserve each other they are both stupid to fall for such a simple trap. Even though it was a short drama by episode 20 it felt draggy... but i soldiered on. The day dreams were so annoying to the point which when the FL final stabbed the ML I was unbothered and wondering if it was another dream. Also these Asian dramas making be think that apart from scheming and bring down men, these women literally were top bored. By the time I got to episode 26 I wanted the leads to all to die for their dumbness and even ti 2D villain was looking more palatable it this stage Did I mention that the ML is extremely good looking? lol I didnt hate the drama it was just too frustrating as it went on.

There are lots of backhanded comments about his race throughout the show. HOW ELSE WHERE THEY SUPPOSED TO INTRODUCE A BLACK CHARACTER, THEY NEED A REACTION- WHAT MONKEY IS THE ONLY WAY THEN, HUH? So it's in an ancient setting, also a FICTIONAL story where anything is possible ; mythic animals (no one is phased), magic (no on phased), a woman living in a sword (obviously), people flying (cool), demons (makes sense), people living for thousands of years and looking 20 (nope thats ok too).... Black person (OMG what the fuck is that! I need to react, that is the strangest thing I've seen in my life! So basically in your mind we can pretend that all these things existed in ancient times, but theres no way we would know about black people- but we travelled enough to know what monkeys are. Is that how it goes in your books then? I see, thank you for enlightening me. As a black person I don't feel that I'm blowing anything out of proportion, I also think that attitudes like yours are exactly why the race issues in Asia are going unchecked.
Ep.06 I'm so fu*king tired of the racism in Asian dramas honestly it makes me sick! And I'm even more tired of the people who make excuses for it like, "oh they have never seen black people in Asia, thats why they do it, they are not racist at all... they only know monkeys... totally makes sense and is above board"... The black actor that agreed to do the script knowing that he was going to be compared to a monkey makes me even more sick, the fact that his character is basically pathetic as well adds salt to the wound.... The whole thing is BS and I dont know why people pipe up to defend it, just because their favourite Asian actor said it.
Honestly I have mixed feeling about the cast, what with everything in the media behind the scenes.... also a fuller faced ML going to take some getting used to (lol used to him being slimmer)... but really trying to check my feelings at the door and to enjoy the drama.

you only think that because you are born in this society and not with the complexities of those times. Its not crazy if you understand that society was very different then, women could not work and had little rights, dying of poverty was widespread, a woman's worth was pretty much based on who her husband was... the list goes on- bottomline it makes sense in the context of the story.
