Some people only watch to kill time and so they skip a lot. missing the main point of story and not understand a lot of things.
Some watch only for their favorite actors/actresses so they TEND TO (not always, just sometimes) ignore other characters and the main plot resulting in them missing some important point
Some only watch to criticize the drama or actors and actress. No offense to anyone but these are the haters (hating for no logical reasons)
some are not deep thinkers, they watch and believe base on what they see, understand, and like.
And then you have the investigator watchers(is that even the right term haha). When they watch, they don't go in with a bias. they pay attention to every details(plots, conversations, characters,items,etc.) in order to understand the whole story. They analyze everything to completely understand the story
It takes me my whole life of watching dramas and movies (cdrama, kdrama, jdrama, thaidrama) to become a one. I watch for details and connect them to understand the characters and story better. Now I use logic and not bias to judge dramas.
You just have to accept that there will always be different type of watchers and not let them bother you. Not everyone will understand or see what you see. Not everyone can watch the drama for what it is and not be bias

No, he didn't have to protect her. The deal was, in order to take back XHX soul to her body, Longyan have to marry her for three lifetimes(basically staying by her side). Him having to protect her is not in the deal. He used a loophole to avoid having to actually marrying her. Which was using his special dragon scale to kinda create a double(not really double since his dragon scale was just put inside a human body that didn't have a soul) to accompany XHX in her other lifetimes. Since his dragon scale is an important part of Longyan(forget what the special scale is call), this double will have the presence of Longyan. This can deceive the heavens by making them think it's really Longyan that is married to XHX in her other lifetimes. Since chinese marriage goes through the ceremony where they bow to the heavens and earth, they're considered spiritually connected (this have to do with the whole belief of, after death, your spirit will now join my ancestors because we are married). This need to done because there's probably a god in the heavens that keeps record to human marriage(i'm just assuming this part since there's belief of god of marriage in their culture)
Now that he is supposed to be married to XHX in her other 2nd and 3rd lifetimes as well, Longyan cannot marry Liu Ying in those lifetimes. If he did, they'll have to go through those wedding ceremony. I only remember A'sun saying it to Yaro after he told A'sun to not/shouldn't get involved with Changge. This was while they were stuck in Chang'an after Changge tried to assasinate LiShimin.
I didn't think I would cry this much watching the last few episodes since I saw the raw eps already. It's so much more painful and sad when you understand what they're saying.
This really shouldn't have ended like this. Like, our Long Wang didn't receive any justice for the crimes he was wrongly accused of (stealing nuwa stone & absorbing yin soul to rebel). And they're basically considered dead since it's just their soul now
so much for watching this drama to help me move on from another drama. I was feeling empty when my other drama ended so I decided to watch 'miss the dragon' to help me fill the emptiness. Now that there's this bittersweet ending for the main CP, there's another feeling of emptiness in me :')
