Is this a remake of the Japanese drama that came out in 2019 or a sequel? Asking because I know it isn’t uncommon for jdoramas to end on a cliffhanger and then get wrapped up in a movie sequel rather than a season 2. I know it says adaptation above, but that isn’t always accurate lol
I mean...it sounded like she raised him since he was a young child, so it’s kind of predatory (in my opinion).
Ughhh so sick! There’s just no way feelings like that develop in a normal/healthy way when you’re somebody’s caregiver and parent (even step-parent) from the time they’re a child.
I haven't watched this, but I looked it up since I saw it's one of the few k-dramas coming to Netflix in March…
Ohhhh yeah if you don’t like cheating, stay far away from this one lol. Not only does it revolve around infidelity, but it does so in a way that’s intended to make you empathize with and root for the relationships born of the cheating g haha
It’s so hard to pick lol but I think for me it’s the doctor’s mistress. There’s just something about the…
True. I guess for the doctor’s mistress you could say she’s young, naive, and being swept away (still no excuse lol) but the lawyer one—she definitely has the maturity to know better and make better choices.
Which mistress do you hate the most?for me it's the one that was already married surely she would have some sense
It’s so hard to pick lol but I think for me it’s the doctor’s mistress. There’s just something about the way that she had no qualms flirting him up while casually discussing the wife that rubbed me the wrong way lol. And the way she’s written, I guess we’re supposed to root for her? But I also agree with your point about the lawyer one. She’s written like we’re supposed to root for her too. And I hate that the writer is basically trying to say lawyer’s wife is an evil villain because *gasp* she’s a strong, working, bad-ass woman who doesn’t want children. News flash: not all women want to be mothers. They’re just all the worst in their own ways lol
I don’t mind infidelity themes/storylines, but this one just doesn’t sit right with me for some reason. It’s like the writer is trying to make this some poignant, thought-provoking masterpiece....when it’s not. It’s just a drama that’s romanticizing cheating, and I don’t know why the writer felt the need to tell it across three couples rather than one. I don’t really see a point to this; what does it bring to the table? There’s not a revenge theme, as far as I can tell, unless that’s coming in season 2 (which if so, they should have just thrown it in here and cut back to one couple). Or maybe they could have focused on the breakdown of the marriage/family as a result of the cheating (again, do it all in one season though). At least that would provide a point to all this infidelity. Instead, the writer dragged this out unnecessarily, I guess in the hopes we’d empathize with these men and mistresses?? Understand them? I don’t know.
I don’t understand the motivations of these men. Why did they cheat? Because they could? Because they’re insatiable and want whatever they want? Because men have no respect for their wives or marriages? Because they have no self-control and only think of themselves? I just feel like there has to be SOME catalyst that drove them to do this. Or not, in which case—again—it just seems like the writer is trying to say that men just have no morals or conscience. I also find it distasteful that these mistresses—before they technically become the mistresses—just literally don’t care that the men are married and flirt with them anyway. Like how can you just casually talk about the wife while snuggling with your “oppa” like it’s nothing lol. Have you no shame?
And the step-mother...don’t even get me started on that one.
Yeah I was hoping this would be a juicy makjang a la World of the Married or VIP but I’m left disappointed. I’ll finish this season but probably won’t tune in for season 2.
I agree with you! I think compared to other BLs, this one is definitely up there. But when you're comparing it…
Yes thank goodness for no silly sounds lol. But to me, some of the music in the more intense scenes was too calm and took away from the overall mood we were supposed to be feeling.

Oh I’m saying the music they used fior some of the more intense scenes was too calm and didn’t really set the right tone, in my opinion lol But I also say this as a lover of Korean crime/suspense/thrillers where music is often expertly utilized haha I don’t necessarily mean they should have used a song with lyrics; a different score could have worked for me as well.
my theory is even though everyone loves SSR (i still believe she will get her revenge ), she isn't on the main…
That makes sense! With the writer having planned 3 seasons to tell this story, I wouldn’t be surprised if she has a lot of ideas waiting to be fleshed out, so it’s just a matter of time before we get to each one
I too came because I love the Japanese dramas with death/logic games and wanted to see what another country had to offer. Overall a fun ride, but I wish the games were a bit more intense/difficult. They definitely cannot leave us hanging with this ending though! Hope a sequel comes (though 5 years later I don’t know how likely that is lol).
