Im at ep 8 and want to drop it. I keep having this feeling that his acting is so fake. After watching it’s okay to not be okay, move to heaven and tomorrow, this drama is not at that level. I must have had too high expectations.

i think Minato realised after seeing sou and tsumugi togheter that his side of the relationship weren't as nice…
wonderful insight - thanks for sharing!

I am new to Japanese dramas (this is my first one). I have two comments so far, would love if someone can bring some insight into them.

1) A lot of the scenes I feel they get so emotionally intense that physical touch is missing in order to 'close' the tense chemistry, like a big heartfelt hug or an embrace or a kiss. My observation is that even in the family, when Sou cries so hysterically, why is no one giving him a much needed hug? Or when Sou looks at Aoba, it feels right to give her a kiss, why is the feeling I get as a viewer that this is 'denied'? It is true that I am judging through my lense of experience, hence I would like to understand, is Japanese culture so averse to physical intimacy generally that even in J-dramas you will see little physicality?

2) I am confused about this: Minato decided to break-up with Aoba because he feels that Aoba still loves Sou. It is very clear to me that even if she does love Sou, currently she is very conscious that Minato has a more special place in her soul and that her love for Minato is stronger. Did I understand correctly? If this is the case, and Aoba clearly expresses this to Minato, why still there is such a 'stubbornness' from Minato that they need to break-up? They even lie to Sou, that their break-up was not because of Sou? Is it then because of Minato's 'paranoia' that even if Aoba tells him 'I love you', he cannot believe it, and hence he realises he is hurting not only himself but the people he loves and hence why he decides to break-up? I must not be sensitive or empathetic enough to understand this. Also, if Aoba loves Minato so much and even openly and unapologetically expresses it in front of Sou, why does she accept to see Sou and meet regularly? Is she testing herself 'do I still love him to an extent to be his girlfriend'? I find it weird that she loves Minato and that she doesn't have 'guilt' for seeing Sou, straight after they broke up. She dated Minato for 3 years, surely this should make your heart heavy for a while and it would make you not want to see any guys? I am not favouring Minato or siding with him, but if they are trying to depict a 'real-life' scenario, the lack of these feeling from Aoba, makes me question again if this is a normal 'let go and move on' behaviour from Japanese culture.

Huge ramble, but I am curious if anyone agrees or can offer a different perspective. Thanks for reading so far, you are awesome!

When you discover a new actor and you want to see more of his worlk, but there is nothing much where he is the main lead. I’ll be waiting for the new SoulMate movie. I’m here after watching 20th century girl and I was charmed by him from the very start. I want to give him more love and support - I hope he gets more recognition and gets those main lead roles! fighting handsome! You can definitely do it πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ«ΆπŸΌπŸ«ΆπŸΌπŸ˜˜

Maybe try to see some video cuts on YouTube to get a feeling of whether this is what you are after? They kiss a few times, however that's it. Some people say the would have liked less romance and more action. To each their own :)

lol, same here, i started love between fairy and devil (first Cdrama) because of AOS, and am now watching 'ashes…
ahhh, I binge watched Ashes of love. I still think about it now and then (a year has passed). I want to watch a similar one, but I am afraid there is no prettier or more handsome actors. It was my first Chinese drama, maybe that's why I am sentimental.

Is there alot of romance in this drama? Also I've just finished Love Between Fairy And Devil, which i loved, will…
there is different types of romance and affection showed between different characters throughout the series. There is romance between the Maidservant Kim & Sonogram Leader, she receives also interest from Master Lee. There is romance of course between the main leads, although personally, the chemistry isn't there, its like they try to portray it serious as if its life or death but with no affection attached. Then there is romance between the next in line Sonrim leader and Jin Bu Yeon's sister. Both the Crown prince and Seo Yul show interest in the female lead. So there is romance - depending on the type you are looking for. If you are looking for the clingy or cringe one, you are not going to find it here.

Is there an explanation why jang gang agree to soul shift with the late king? Does he not know that he can get…
The feeling I got is that he had no choice, he had to obey the King. Although not very smart of him to make it happen without having some rules in place, for example don't f*** with my wife.

give me a good reason, why is this drama so popular?I don't know why I'm not interested in watching it yet.β™₯
After each episode, it leaves you wanting more. It is not predictable and it has great story.

The ending gives off Bulgasal vibes. I am now starting to get why I always felt that Yul’s concern for Mudeok was deeper than what I felt Jang Uk was showing. With the sneak peak for S2, it seems Jang Uk is solo riding, and no clue as to where does Mudeok fit in the new Plot. They made the main leads lovey dovey in S1, so it sucks that we might not see Soomin in S2. However seeing how everyone must wish that Mudeok was dead, I predict little romance and more revenge, justice and serious fighting vibe for power in S2. I have a mehhhh aftertaste with the ending in S1.. Let’s see what S2 brings. They all looked very cool in the trailer and lucky for us we don’t have to wait that long for ep.1. Hasta pronto alchemists!

Im tired of yul he is getting too much screentime
Personally, I find that Maidservant Kim and the Songrim Leader get too much screentime - I just want to skip forward when I see yet another scene with them. I think it is interesting to watch how Yul is processing his emotions for Naksu, at the same time observing and keeping an eye on her - I think internally he is in turmoil and undecisive. He is somewhat unpredictable, especially after the last confrontation he had with JangUK, about whether he will defend her or will divulge her secret when the time calls for it. If you think about it, only JankUk, Yul and Master Lee know about Naksu in Mudeok's body. I think he will be an important keyplayer in the overall plot: will he be a whistleblower or will he want to give in to his feelings. ^^

Hei guys, Naksu's blue scarf, Is it still trending in the kingdom? Didn't see anyone buying or selling it in recent…
I thought as soon as they saw JangUk use Tansu, they would have connected the dots and questioned him...it somehow feels like a delayed reaction.

For anyone needing a reminder of the kpop song based on which the traditional song was composed (or maybe in reality was the other way around), played at Chwinsuru in episode 9: the group is 'Oh my girl' and the name of the song is 'Nonstop'.
