I think so it is possible... I think Princess Li Yan was suppose to be married off to the grassland tribe but I think for a happy ending, they would marry Princess Changge off to Ashile.

Changge studied all of tangs/ her uncles sucessful offensive strategy which complimented shuzhou because they have been mostly just using defensive strategy. She might not have been better than a battle harden commander but she had the right skill that they needed at that particular time.
