I honestly watched this for Zhang Yu Xi. This is my first time watching Chen Yi and I think he's also very talented, but on the other hand I'm having a hard time clicking with the main actress here... I'm trying really hard to like her acting ? ☹
I am all about supporting new actors, especially Cheng Xiao. I think it's great that she's paired up with so many nice well-loved costars (Xu Kai, Leo, Arthur). I hope to see her improvements with this drama as well as her other upcoming works. She is so pretty and is a hard-worker ♥
For those who wants to know more about what happens after S1... (spoilers from the story which this drama was…
Before I start spoilers here are a few notes: - In the original story Xiao Wu is 100,000 years old rather than 10,000 - Tang Hao is a Titled Duoluo of Clear Sky Sect - Tang San's Mom is a 100,000 year old Blue Silver Grass Emperor. Spoilers are from the story so it might play out different in the drama's 2nd season.
*Spoilers* Xiao Wu ends up leaving Tang San and went back to Star Dou to stay within the protection of her spirit beast friends (Er Ming and Da Ming, both are 100,000 year old beasts).
Tang San wakes up and is upset to find that Xiao Wu has left. His dad explained if he wants to be able to protect Xiao Wu he will have to get stronger. Tang San starts training with his Clear Sky Hammer under the guidance of his dad.
Tang San trains until he is close to getting his 6th spirit ring and gains some powerful skills. (His training arc is long so I'll skip the details but he becomes stronger basically). - Once Tang Sang got stronger, Tang Hao takes him to go see his mom who is in her Spirit Beast form--she's the Blue Silver Grass Emperor. (She's not dead, but lost her human form). He tells him all about the past and their family blood feud with Spirit Hall.
*Spoilers about Tang San reuniting with Xiao Wu again:* Eventually, once Tang San finishes his training he coincidentally hears news that Bibi Dong organized a strong team of Spirit Masters to go into Star Dou in order to hunt/kill Xiao Wu. Tang San manages to disguise and infiltrate into the Team so he can spoil their plans.
**Sad spoilers up ahead...** Just as the strong spirit team starts fighting with Xiao Wu, Tang San reveals himself and tries to saves her. Unfortunately, they were outnumbered and his plan to save her fails. He tries to sacrifice himself in order to let Xiao Wu escape, but just as he was about to die Xiao Wu used a spirit beast skill called Sacrifice and gives up both her soul and life to Tang San. She becomes his 6th spirit ring and one of his soul bone (making him even stronger). Tang San was devastated at the lost of Xiao Wu. Er Ming and Da Ming (her spirit beast friend) explained there may be a way to resurrect her, but he will have to become a Titled Duoluo first. This leads into the next arc...
The Su Lai Ke reunion ark starts: He started his journey to become stronger, starts his own Sect, and works to resurrect Xiao Wu.

*If you have already watched the animated version(donghua) and/or have already read the light novel, most likely you will not like this live-action adaptation.
*If you have NOT watched/read anything about this, then I think you will like the drama.
I have read the light novel long ago and also am up-to-date with the donghua so I knew I would not be able to get pass my biased to watch this. However, my friend have not and said she loved it!
P.S. If anyone wants any background info/spoilers about what was missed/what took place after S1, I'd love to share. Lol
Ep 36: Anyone else feel kind of sorry for Shi Jin when he was reminiscing/imaging how nice it would be to marry Hua for real? Honestly felt so bad for him in that episode. He was a genuinely nice guy. Although I am still 100% #TeamRongXia
I'm new to variety shows and similar tv shows. This was my first. Can anyone recommend me something similar/other variety shows that are funny and sweet like this?
The light novel is pretty good, just long lol!
