Depends on the show-runners initial decisions. So far, they have been faithful to the manga format however, some parts were changed. I'm mainly worried about the secondary pair as they may not have enough screen-time to fully develop.

I am reading the untranslated chapters and so far it seems slow-paced but enjoying the slow build up.

Seems so, there are 5 volumes so far and many stories to explore. What's special about it is it ends on Christmas day.

They are using the show to get the manga more fans so we don't search for spoilers in the upcoming manga, smart marketing strategy but it does drive ya crazy o.o

Yeah, it cannot be denied cause even my Mum was thinking "wait a minute". The original creator has written many bl material in the past. From my interpretation the writer may have had behind the scenes discussions with show-runners on the matter. However, due to the fluff concept it could easily cater towards younger audiences so maybe that's why they played it safe.

Probably because so far, we have a refreshing storyline. The main lead is initiative while the confident lead is genuinely respectful and kind. The concept is heavily fantasy but it's nice to see there is common sense and fun moments at the same time.

I believe Ossan's love (a non-manga adaptation) was trying to broaden its target audience while cherry magic already has a fan-base from its manga readers. I could understand where you are coming from. So far, I find cherry magic to have a more smooth development while Ossan's love, the main lead took a little more time to connect with other potential love interests. They both have different story concepts and approaches which makes them both unique.

I'm going to try and keep myself occupied in the next two months. Just so I don't lose my mind waiting for each episode x'D
