damn ive never seen a more active comment section than this one
my boss scheduled me for work for no damn reason and i need the money otherwise id be doing sth else but im lowkey like wow good timing. it has never been this live lmaooo
Why aren't u understanding this issue, it has to trend in Korea first before anything will be done else they don't…
i don't have a dog in this fight but they do know. people say this a lot to shirk responsibility (koreans say this all the time when confronted about anti blackness and people say it to defend them for it). there is no way they do not know. also a famous writer there rejected showing up irl for some american or white prize (nobel? idr or care) because of this lol. they are in asia. they know.

yea i think that's another thing people are conflating the conversation and critique (since it is now ABOUT this) with like. arguing. people can still post their opinions. a person made a long and detailed comment behind a spoiler and i liked it bc it was an interpretation/potential of what the drama could have done. i skimmed it but im gonna go back to it. very fascinating and cool.
instead of posting what you want about the show for other like minded people who do not care, it's to tell us you don't care. or that we're all mean and wrong and. lump us in with the spam accounts and downvoters (not that i care lol but that isnt how i spend my time even when bored as fuck). that debating this is wrong. none of this is true AND it makes us l a z y. this is obviously part of a broader conversation and is close to people's hearts and it hits on just how complicit we are. what will it take? it's clear something must be ripped away from us to give even a single shit. how sad.
there is something we can do about it! and you have a point but imagine: the past year and a half since 10/7 and…
i see what you're saying but i don't think that is more important. everyone there is safe and fine for now like you and i (well i hope). particularly the actors. the production will be fine. it does suck as an artist to see, esp if that isn't what they meant, but if those people have any sense of self they'll be okay. if someone in the cast and crew feel like it is maligning them then they are free to speak. it may be difficult but that's part of the problem, isn't it? that people do not want to face consequences or sacrifice. so we are here now.
I am not speaking for the people advocating for boycotts. that will not make a difference yes. It's just that…
yea it's pathetic and pissing me off. i ahve free time at work too so i can do this. they are conflating people talking about this issue and explaining with people spamming but also devaluing themselves as viewers and people with consciences. this really reminds me of snowdrop. that reaction made me so upset and people wanted to gaslight otheres to say it isn't a big deal. look how complacent it makes you. look how angry you are over the real world, that was always present, seeping into the reception and your enjoyment. the height of individualism and simple thinking when engaging with work. sorry that palestinians exist and they and others care about what is being presented as they are currently being wiped off the planet in their own homes? supported or literally aided and abetted by your country???? all so you can comment on this fucking website about how hard it is for you to discuss it with people now because of the pesky thing called life?
no matter how we slice it this is bad yall. sorry. this shit is too fucking serious for them to fuck around like this. this show is gonna be solidifed as flubbing so hard over orientalist fantasies for empire and befuddling decisions on zionism. why fail.
WAIT HI IS THIS TRUEthis is really fucked up and i'd like to know if you can if this is true. one because i can…
i believe you. atp now i am just angry they didn't say anything. because the dudes were white and spoke english so that signals to me they are not palestinian (and we all know how sk feels about south asians so they could have gotten someone adjacent (for them) to arab) but historically i don't know of precedent for this. if anyone invovled had said something i would have said that was a very bold move that acknowledged that south koreans had no business being in the middle east. a bold move as establishing them (the isrli equivalent) as a dominant white supremacist force in asia at the behest of the worst country in the world (usa) and hating that they were once complicit in it. it would reaffirm a stance in what i believe they felt about hong hee joo as a woman under servitude and her disability as well. so many things.
unfortunately they have said nothing and gone on awards shows. yay.
The human tendency to react first and ask question later (if at all) is as old as time. The Roman philosopher Virgil…
there is something we can do about it! and you have a point but imagine:
the past year and a half since 10/7 and the extermination of palestinians. we have seen the way the news, culture, our politicians, institutions, have represed, skewed, lied, change the story and manufactured consent that has imprinted on our minds and interpersonal rships.
plenty of these people upset are muslim and/or arab and/or asian. some of us know more about this situation than the average person. a lot of viewers are at the very least liberal and have a normie position ("ceasefire"). it is the internet. netflix is implicated either way but why should the viewers wait on the clarification if they have some background on this? me personally, besides being black, being thrown on the ground by police and watching comrades get pepper sprayed and seeing on the news black people spit on, called the n word, and having a sniper team pointed at them in service of our and palestinian liberation? yea! i take this seriously! i enjoy the show! but from what i know about this and the world and sk, there is precedent to believe that they WOULD do this. the saving grace of this debacle is that i think hhj WAS kidnapped by white men in balaclavas who spoke english ie the isrlis. but also bc of what i know this makes no sense!!!! so we need CLARIFICATION. it's not just netflix atp—it is the showrunner's or anyone with authority and visibility's duty to elucidate on what this is if things are going this far. to ignore it is cowardly. palestinians are being murdered literally right now. as we speak. for THEIR/OUR "comfort"!
you cannot blame the public in this instance for a reaction because either way it is someone in this pipeline's fault and that is unacceptable. for the show, a quick way to become a hero is to open your mouth and explain what happened given what i pointed out about the militants and the view in which the show seemed to think of argan. and if the storyline did do what i wanted it to then that means, had they spoke earlier, that would be a HUGE positive in context of the show and what it says about domination at all. i really need people to think more critically about why this reaction is even coming about. it is not as base as everyone wants to make it seem.
ok but people want to anyway so what is the big deal? what are you guys upset about then? the words aren't violent and it is just spam for you. that is a minor inconvenience. you don't need to comment about how much nothing it does—they know. that's just being dismissive because you want to maintain an air of superiority and ensure people know a thing they know over something popular that everyone is getting paid for...is popular? that the world keeps spinning? we know.
it obviously effects you just like the controversy is effecting others. the difference is one is a real world issue with real world consequences since zionism is HUGELY fought and promoted via culture and the other is upset over comments and dropped rating that doesn't hit a 7 anyway not that it matters.
I don’t think actors popularity is issue I know YYS is more popular domestically, His past drama’s Korea ratings…
if that's true that's hilarious and would make sense why so many english speakers are coming out to whine about ppls anger but otoh means they should have been CLEAR AND CAREFUL bc it means in like 50 countries with huge muslim and arab populations. idk how releasing stuff on netflix works so they probably don't QC subs but not talking about it is unacceptable because if they did what i think they did this could change the trajectory.
Koreans couldn't care less. I checked trending topics on The Qoo yesterday (Deyongbe board) and couldn't find…
there's something incredibly just intellectually lazy about making this issue seem as infinitesimal as possible so people can protect their feelings and enjoyment. and it's so disingenuous and telling about what type of people you are. like you all want them to be fine out of spite, to show the world, but why? what about if this was about the jewish holocaust?
it seems to me like they may not have fucked up but the silence is pathetic. this COULD be solved. they are not doing it. so this is what they get i'm sorry. you all will be FINE. you haven't been forced to think critically ever and you aren't now so why bother saying shit like this that makes you look smug and heartless. over a fucking television show as opposed to trying to understand human life? come on.
