I actually downloaded the WeTV app just to watch the last few episodes that were not subbed anywhere else. I loved this drama so much that I was even willing to pay the VIP fees; that was how desperate I was... hahaha.. :)))

Good you ask this question. I was also wondering the reason why and despite watching the scene many times, I could not figure out why. I thought it was because Han Shuo got startled by Qian-Qian comment that she wanted to quickly finish the drinking so that she can go home as soon as possible. Perhaps I was wrong.

Unfortunately, the subs don't get better. You pay for the VIP to get access to the subs, ahead of the others who don't pay.

After finishing this wonderful drama a few weeks ago, I still cannot move on. I really liked it. Episodes 28-29 are my all time favourite in the drama; I even re-watched the ML/Lu-Yi's amnesia scenes so many times just for laughs. Lu-Yi as "8-year child" was so cute and adorable that even the FL/Jin-Xia just lets him jump into her bed and sleep with her during a thunderstorm. I just love the part where she lovingly stroke Lu-Yi's sleeping face and when he woke up to innocently ask her what's she doing, she told him that she was hungry (for him!) and tried to kiss him ... but alas, it was only her lustful imagination... hahaha....
Also the part where the ML still pretends to be a child (after he recovered his memories) was so funny (beginning of episode 29) - where Xie Xiao discovered the ML & FL in bed the next morning and chaos ensured; the part where Xie Xiao forced medicine down his throat and he spits it back to Xie Xiao (LOL !!) - then he quickly ran to Jin Xia for help; where he quickly held onto her arm and playfully touched her head with his; also the part where he play with her forearm and held her fingers lovingly (which drove Xie Xiao mad with jealously - LOL !!); All the affectionate little actions of Lu-Yi towards Jin-Xia shows clearly that he adores her - although she was oblivious to this !! This drama is really so good....

Totally agree about Allen Ren and Tan Songyun's amazing chemistry in Under the Power. Personally, I prefer not to see any kissing at all because I just hate those bad or fake kissing scenes - especially those cringe-worthy, dead-fish kissing styles seen in many Asian dramas. Ouuiii.... LOL

Ok, after reading all your comments here, I will start watching this drama. I was looking around for another similar C-drama to watch after finishing the Romance of Tiger and Rose, since I still could't get over this lovely cute drama. I tried watching similar rom-com period C-dramas; e.g. To Get Her (dropped), Love Better than Immortality (now on-hold), Oh My Emperor (dropped!), and Dreaming Back to Qing Dynasty (dropped)... hahaha.... OK, now off to see My Dear Destiny ... Wish me good luck... LOL...

In my opinion, you can still have good romance in dramas without lips kissing scenes. I used to watch lots of Bollywood movies in the past, and lips kissing was forbidden. So, they were good at creating sensual passionate/romantic scenes between the ML & FL by just increasing the sexual tensions, e.g. getting wet and transparent in the rain moments, long hungry love stares, heavy breathing, whispering in ears, or hot/soft kisses on hands, arms, shoulders or necks, and foreheads. What happened to old-fashion courting methods? Can you imagine Allen Ren doing all these to his female leads? Ohhh la la.... Hahahah...LOL.. :))

You don't have to pay for the regular episodes, but if the episodes says VIP, you have to pay to access them.

OH NO!!! No kissing scenes in 2020-filmed shows? Maybe they can improvise and just kiss the hands and palms, or necks, and then quickly disinfect the actors....hahaha....

I am here just because of Allen Ren. I loved him in Under the Power, and he was adorable there. Looking forward to watch this drama, and see what he can show me. :))))

I dropped this drama by episode 24. In the beginning, it was good and cute. And then, along the way, I felt that the plot got lost, and I was getting frustrated with the push-pull romance between the ML & FL. I like Lawrence Wong when he was in Story of YangXi Palace, and he acted so well there as the palace guard next to Xu Kai's character. Hence, I watched this Girlfriend drama just to see him act in modern world setting. To be honest, I was very disappointed with his acting here; perhaps it's the scriptwriter's or the director's fault, but I felt he could have done much better. Here, he looked wooden, then bewildered, like a lost puppy, even constipated (hahaha). I admit he looks very handsome and adorable, but it is not enough to carry the drama through. These are all my personal opinion. Hence, I decided to drop this Girlfriend drama mid-way. It is a pity because the female lead actress Xu Hao did well here. I hope to see her in other dramas in the future.

I downloaded Mango TV (MGTV) app on my tablet and also paid 1 month subscription for the VIP - just to watch a few dramas from them, and I have to say that the English subs produced by MGTV are not great - the grammars were not corrected and some translations were confusing. However, if you can put up with these and overall understand the meaning of the translations, I think it is not worth paying for the VIP part of the app.

You got me at the "brain dead female lead"; I agree with you. I just hate it when writers make female leads into bitchy-screaming divas = strong and independent women. Perhaps they ran out of ideas.... hahahaha.... Anyway, I have been watching several Chinese dramas during the last few months during the Covid-19 shutdown, and I've decided that I prefer the smart and sassy female lead (e.g. Chen Qian-Qian in Romance of Tiger and Rose; Yuan Jin-Xia in Under the Power, or ChangLe in Fake Princess). X-D

Waiting for proper English subs every week is really slowly killing me...LOL. Even though I have the MGTV app on my device, the English subs there are just badly translated. I have to correct the bad grammar in my head or even got confused at times as I watch the drama....hahaha....

You should know that most Chinese is really superstitious and believes in these stuffs. That's why there are fortune tellers around, and they also believes in Feng Shui. I guess every society has its own superstitious beliefs.

I know that this is a romantic-comedy drama only, but the way the Boss is currently treating his secretary - i.e. speaking and sitting too close to her, looking at her body discretely, making her to accidentally sit on his lap and then holding her tight, holding her several times - everything screams of sexual harassment. I find his actions to be cringey and creepy. No wonder his secretary want to quit from her job.... LOL
