Hum well for me they never made it clear wether he was only injured or if he died, so i just took it as if he died since it's the plot and since everyone treated it as that (many characters said that he had died even though they didn't find his body). Never in the drama do they tell us where he was or how he survived so I'll continue to act as if he died because it's much better that way XD and anyways it doesn't change the fact that Lan Zhan searched for him everywhere for such a long time and it's real love :)
As for the mask, indeed I think it's just not to confuse the viewers because if they say the body is different then they would have to change actors and it wouldn't have felt the same (especially since Xiao Zhan is such an amazing WWX).

The one that really didn't die though (even though it didn't really male any sense seeing what happened to him) is Wen Ning. But that's just because of chinese censorship that forbids zombies on tv, it honestly didn't change anything to the plot.

Well overall I can understand why you don't like the drama (as I read the comments above), as it's not as dark as the novel nor the donghua and few plots elements were changed. Personally I'm alright with it, but not every drama can fit everyone's taste so it's fine ^^ Since you've decided to continue it, maybe you will like the rest better since the present days depiction is much closer to the novel than the flashback. Then again, they had to change other stuff (like the puppet fight in Yi city) because of censorship...

The drama was really not clear about this, I only understood after reading the comments and the novel. Idk why they didn't simply say it in the drama...

I'm at my third watching and I totally get what you mean. Things get imprited more in mind now that I don't have to pay as much attention to the subtitles as before. Also, after reading the novel there are things understand differently and better, it's really worth rewatching !

Yeah she just totally destroyed him tbh. Idk if what she says is true or not but I feel a bit of pity for him because she went the dirty way about it, posted super embarassing pictures and all... I guess we won't see him anymore on tv :\

Well chinese directors seem to have become masters in the art of going around censorship to satisfy fans (see The untamed and Guardian for instance)... So I am both curious and excited to see what they will do with this one :D

Lmao don't take it personally, everyone has different taste XD It's indeed a shame for people that don't fall hard in love with The Untamed like us, but you will fall for other dramas that we won't so it's all fine :D

I am absolutely in love with both Bu Wang and Chen Qing songs because they fit the characters so perfectly, I have no words. <3 I especially love the Chen Qing one though because of the way it's written, the tune is so happy but when you read the lyrics it's so sad, it's just like WWX : happy on the outside but hurting inside

I'd say to only read the novel ending if you can handle smut and graphic description of boys doing stuff XD I kinda needed to bath in holy water after reading this, but I don't regret :D

I absolutely love the scene in the snow toward the end, where LZ plays music and WWX drinks some wine watching by the window. They get all telepathic and without many words you can feel their link and love, it's just beautiful <3

I am saying there will probably not be a second season to the drama, since that's what you were wondering about in your first comment. As for the anime, as far as I know there will be a season 2 since they stopped season 1 in the middle of the story.
I totally agree that watching and reading is different, reason why I like watching more. But since we've already watched the drama, it's easier to imagine the scenes while reading. Also the novel has more details than the drama and more skinship/smut. In the end, it's your call on if you read it or not :)

Yes I totally agree ! The casting was on point ! I am especially impressed by Xiao Zhan, it's like he came right out of the novel, he really did a good job !

Thank you for this comment ! I honestly can't get how some people still think this is a bromance and not a romance. I am not Chinese and don't speak the language but by the way the characters act, it's pretty obvious that they are in love. You don't need obvious skinship and kisses to show love, sometimes it just takes a look. I think that's also why the drama is so popular, because despite the censorship, the actors could show the depth of WWX and LZ's relationship, the lack of skinship making it even purer

I just rewatched the ep yesterday and actually he's kneeling because he is punished (we all got that) and he's punished because he went to see WWX in Yiling. It's the moment where they eat together with Ah Yuan (so cute) and then Wen Ning goes crazy before getting his consciousness back.

Super relatable. I restarted the drama the moment I finished it and I read the novel too and I am feeding myself on the MVs... and since I spend my days on it I actually dream about it at night oml XD

Hum actually it's a bit hard to answer the question because in the novel it's a bit different and more expanable. In the novel WWX reappears in Mo Xuan Yu's body, so it's more like Nie Huaisang told Mo Xuan Yu how to invoke WWX's spirit and stuck him in his body. In the drama... it's not explained but let's go with the explanation that the invocation actually brought back WWX's spirit AND body...

I doubt there will be a second season because they showed everything that is in the book.. you can read the novel online if you can handle smut :)
