Oooh maybe you're right. I honestly don't remember at all and I don't feel like rewatching the movie just to check ^^" I think that more than a few months went by though, as we saw some seasons change if I remember well. But anyways, we can agree some time has passed :)

I watched this movie a long time ago so honestly I have no recollection of when it was said. However I probably didn't invent this, so you'll have to take my word for it :)
in my point of view I find the problem is not actually from the mother as it looked like she accepted them longtime…
Maybe you're right. I don't think the mom will be a big problem as you said, she already went through the acceptance of her son's sexual orientation. But Idk if she's THAT open-minded that she would bring them together again... In any case, both guys have a lot of work to do on themselves before they can find each other again. But as long as there's life, there's hope ! :D
I've actually just watched the movie because a friend wanted me to explain the ending XD So since I've thought hard about what this ending might mean and lead to, here are my 2 cents (I know I always come to MDL to read what people have thought about endings and stuff when I don't understand them so maybe my opinion will help someone) :
If we start with the mom, I think that by the end she has kinda accepted the boys relationship. At the same time, there might be problems later because she clearly says that she has 2 sons and no one expect their sons to date. It's like she's implying that the boys should love each other as brothers and not as lovers. However, since she's already gone through the whole process of accepting her son's sexuality, i think she will be fine later, since she now loves both of them as much as a mom can love her children.
As for YJ, I think he is in a difficult position. He now receives love from a maternal figure, for the first time since his own mom suicided, and he doesn't want to disappoint her, and lose her love. That would be the first reason he is kinda distant with SH. Another reason is clearly that he probably doesn't even know how to act around SH anymore. For 4 years he's gone through so much sh*t, from prostitution to losing his father, to being a selfless an dedicated caretaker for the boy he both loved and felt so guilty toward. 4 years is a very long time, and he changed a lot, as well as his feelings too probably. He kinda went through mourning the boy he loved and then he decided to move on and finally live his own life. And that's exactly when SH woke up ! He is now a 4 years older man faced with a boy that hasn't changed one bit from 4 years ago, since his life was put on "pause" mode. It shows a lot when SH asks if he is going to smoke and YJ answers "I've stopped", implying "I've stopped at some point within those 4 years you weren't around". SH doesn't know YJ anymore, they are completely estranged.
Finally, SH needs to be talked about because he doesn't have much lines in the movie but is the element keeping eveything together. As I said, he was on "pause" during 4 years, which means that when he wakes up, everything that happened so long ago for everyon actually happened yesterday for him. He's the only one thta hasn't changed, which allows him to still be young and carefree because he didn't have to go through the pain of fearing to lose someone you love or having to care for them for years. That's why he's the only one who's ok, as YJ says. But at the same time, I think he feels the distance that exists now between him and YJ and even his mom. When the 3 are together, he looks like a 3rd party watching his mom and his "bf" being so close, as if he's not part of the picture. At the very end, he lays between his mom and YJ, showing his role as a link between them. They wouldn't be that close if he didn't exist. He turns his back on YJ, facing his mom, proof that he could choose to only see her and make her happy by being the son she wants him to be (aka heterosexual). But then he lays on his back again and watches YJ, proof that he actually still loves him and is not ready to lose him. Then he looks at the ceiling, in front of him, the future will bring what it will bring, he will still not choose between his mom and his love.
In the end, I think the ending is hopeful. As I said, the mom got over her son's sexuality, she will be more accepting now, SH doesn't lose hope on his couple, and YJ actually admits that he isn't ok, which is the first step in starting to be ok again. Like the mom said before, the ones that always say they are ok are usually the ones that are not.
I wrote a novel I know XD But I felt like putting my thoughts somewhere before moving on. And hopefully it will help some MDL users in making their own opinion about the ending :)

You know what, I actually wonder if WYB's way of acting toward XZ and seriously not caring about what people think (because he clearly doesn't XD), doesn't have something to do with the fact that he was kinda "raised" in SK and was part of a kpop group, where it's part of the job to have some dubious relationships with other members for fanservice. When I see how some kpop group members act toward each other and how many fans ship them seriously (I literally have a friend that regularly sends me huge paragraphs of "proofs" that some BTS members are dating), I think it's reasonable assumption that WYB having grown up in this kind of environment would recreate that hype with XZ, especially since their popularity skyrocketed thanks to a BL (let's be honest) drama. Tbh, this attitude of WYB could bring trouble to both him and XZ (because of the chinese government), and I think that's why XZ tries to keep his distance and avoid such rumours, which is perfectly understandable But I think it's funny how WYB really seems to be the kind of "I don't care what people think" kind of guy XD (and the unreasonable part of my brain still ships them XD)

And I just read on twitter that apparently his song was revealed at the Nanjing's concert!!!! Apparently it's called "Hating life" ! I'm soooo excited !! (I needed to share my hype XD)
Aahah XD Well they could have made a song about his friendship toward LXC and his mixed-feelings toward his father and how everything he did was for the greater good and killing people along the way couldn't be helped (because it seems that's what he thinks) I guess ^^"

WHY, when all main characters have a song dedicated to their characters, does Jing Guangyao not have one ?? He's a really important character to the the story and I don't get why he doesn't have a song ?? Does someone know ? Did the drama crew/producer/director give an explanation for that ?
