Surprised by how many people who disliked this. It’s a light city rom com and I really appreciate its trying something new. Maybe I am a big fan of slice of life dramas so this is really my cup of tea. This has been super fun and I look forward to the next episode!
This is a refreshingly great read. I wanted to take the time to respond to some of your points.I'm glad you brought…
Thank you! You literally put words out from my mouth that I couldn’t lol “ The characters don't brood, they don't angst, and they don't blame. They accept what life has offered them, and find ways to make it sunnier for the next tomorrow”. THIS x 10000. They are not angry. They want more but they are satisfied at the current pace and slowly keep moving forward. It’s so refreshing to see our leads being mentally stable lol.
And your analysis to ML is so spot on. I have this same feeling but I couldn’t put it into words. They are calculative because they are all smart in understanding other people. FL gets ML’s own issues in a few sentences exchange. I saw some comments saying ML is boring and have no facial expression. ISW should have gotten a more interesting role to showcase his range. I bet to differ so much because he is perfect here building a very difficult character. He has a lot of emotions and affections but are shown through subtle facial expressions, on top of a rather “weird” person. So building a “strange”, savage, smart, affectionate character with minimal expressions and others would think of him as “stupid” in a way is extremely difficult. He did a wonderful job.
All leads speak their minds and have actual productive conversations and communication. Which is actually rare in dramas. Exchanging thoughts in just a few words without being misunderstood across all the leads.
First of all you can write well.Secondly SU's male lead was what Siwan is here in Run On. Siwan owned upto the…
Haha thank you! I have so many thoughts after watching Run On twice. I am genuinely so excited to see a good script got good actings and directing, and frankly, decent budgeting. It’s just refreshing to see a drama not taking the typical predictable route and give depths and dimensions to its characters but not making them pitiful. How rare do you see all leads are mentally strong, independent and completed, and hence have the extra strengths to actually get to know another person and can understand others. They are not busy trying to figure themselves out. It’s never a healthy relationship when both parties aren’t ready.
You mean the second female lead? No, the main male lead liked the second female lead in the past
I think ML did like SFL before although he has already moved on. But yes no love triangles and ML & FL are both interested in each other at that same time.
You mean the second female lead? No, the main male lead liked the second female lead in the past
No. ML used to like SFL in the past but he has already moved on. SFL knew about it too and they are pure boss/sports star and friends now. Right now, ML and FL are interested in each other. SFL’s current love line will be with SML. No love triangles in this drama.
I might get hate from saying this but it’s not about me disliking any actors/actresses. It’s 100% coming from my love for wanting a good show. This is the Start Up that they wanted to be but failed to be. It’s the refreshing modern city elites realistic smart witty romance fast paced comedy that Start Up wanted to achieve. Even down to the color tone and filter, the styles and clothes, etc.
The difference lies in a lot of places. The characters, is one. And the taking themselves easily and the positivity attitude to life comes from them knowing themselves very well and where they want to be in their lives. And the plot not focusing on the cliches. Run On is refreshing.
The characters are all uniquely weird and crazy (not sure about SML yet since we don’t know much about him so far). You can’t really predict what they will do next or say. They aren’t your typical kdrama characters where you can guess who they are in 10 min. You are given hints slowly and bits by bits to learn and understand more about who they are and how they think, and their relationships around them. It’s refreshing to finally see some new characters.
They are crazy in their own world, yet they think each other are crazy in the parts where they think like everyone else (lol) FL thinks SFL ML is crazy, when she herself also spill savage left and right lol In a normal person’s life, you won’t see a FL with that much sass lol When she apologized lol She’s still crazy lol The way she talks her mind without thinking lol
Yet you see SFL thinking ML is crazy cos normal person would want to “turn himself into a hero” to solve the issue realistically. But SFL herself is crazy enough in other areas lol
And you have the ML also being “crazy”. How he talks - unlike a lot of roles who have “rules”, ML is not as dumb as many others both IQ and EQ lol And he savage. He also knows why he can be following his own values and rules is because, he is rich. He can afford to do good things.
Now the second part, is the fact that they don’t take their “saddened past” negatively. The FL being an orphan, in other dramas, when she walks along the other families, most dramas will make her being sad and lonely. Here, she smiles when seeing the other people’s life have families and companies.
She understands the strength she has, and what makes her sad, she already dealt within her own and moved on, she is in a great place mentally (even though she’s still sad that she doesn’t have a family) at this point.
Same as the ML and SFL. ML’s attitude towards being called “someone’s someone” is he accepts it. Yes, he would want to be better, but he knows his own place and he knows where he wants to be next.
They all understand themselves very well, and are not miserable in life because they all know where is the next place they want to be. Mentally, they are all strong individuals who knows their own weaknesses and are okay with it.
This already set a very different tone than majority of the dramas out there. It’s refreshing, and the viewers can watch it with a relived.
The third thing is, they don’t have the unnecessary love triangle. THANK GODDESS.
I am so happy to come and just watch some really good characters and plots that I don’t need to hate anyone or choose between anyone, or feel frustrated at anyone.
God knows how long I haven’t felt so much in love with a rom com and how refreshing Run On is. (I loved Do You Like Brahms too as a romance story but that is not a comedy lol and it’s not supposed to be a fast paced drama lol)
The SML in this one hasn't really been shown much, what do you mean? Or are you talking about the SFL?
I actually completely think of it differently. Start Up from ep1 it’s so obvious the SML got the script and plot line of a ML. Run On? All of them are so crazy in their own perspective. And how they all think the others are crazy when they themselves are crazy in their own aspects lol The two leads right now showed some REALLY interesting characteristics and each got their unique savages lol The ML FL in Run On are the opposite of “boring” lol
Nope. It's not BL and it's not Go Princess Go's remake. South Korea would not allow even BL related stuff in a…
I heard the writer bought the GPG rights tho? I know it won't be a 100 to 100 remake but it's an adaptation I thought? As for BL or not... I would think in a way it's more like bi haha
Many good dramas are too low rate here these days, don't know what happened
Maybe because the viewers who watch these good shows (or are attracted to these shows) actually don't give a 10 easily? Like me, this is such a good show, one of the best in 2020, but I can't say it's a 10 out of 10 in my book, I can't even say it's 9.5/10 or 9/10 as of this point (although I did change my vote to 10 after seeing it being lowered just so more people can watch this).
Many people who voted 10 for those popular shows may either 1. have a lower standard of what a "10" is, or 2. they don't really care about good plots and solid story writing/characters building, or 3. they vote for their fav actors/actresses, or 4. there are just a lot more people watching given its popularity.
I thought that too, never heard scientifically that a person can go alive as far as 31 days. Probably an error…
I think they will address it for sure. The writer hasn't revealed what happened with the male lead and the dad yet so I am pretty sure they will show us later, just like how they finally revealed what the wife did with her identity only last episode
Anyone feel the same? After watching this I just got reminded HUNTER's game. The trying to figure out the rules and how the human darkness and kindness adding uncertainties to the games, etc. LOL
Hopefully this doesn't offend anyone as this is all just my opinion. I've honestly grown very, very tired of kdramas…
To me it's pretty normal. I started off with Jdrama almost 2 decades ago and have been watching both j and k dramas for many years and slowly going to kdramas only. It's also been more than a decade in kdramas for me and I still enjoy them a lot, but for sure every year the ones that I can actually finish is rare. Most of the high rating ones I had to drop cos I can literally predict what the characters are going to say or do next (like Hotel Del Luna to me just doesn't have that sincere) lol But there are still some great ones with real characters (but most likely not as popular hence most people missing out of them).
I am still checking out J-dramas time to time, but realized it's even true for J-dramas that overall the quality is nowhere near before (I mean, after all, it's like all the topics have been covered many times). So J-dramas to me felt a bit like how you are feeling about K-dramas right now. It's just hard when you watch it for years in a society different than its setting place.
hey Chingus, i don't get it. How come Aeri's friend future GeonWook can text future SeoJin to return call?! Isn't…
Cos he just basically calls someone in the same timeline. They talked before 10:33pm and for longer than 1 min. It's a communication in the same world, same timeline, just like any normal phone calls.
Same! I had to drop Hospital Playlist and Its OK To Not Be OK I found them boring.
I dropped it at ep3. I couldn't stand most of its logic sadly.
One example is, if there was an accident like this happened, 99.9% of time the responsibility goes to the airline. Not one single company will admit they are wrong this easily, let alone before the investigation has been concluded? It is extremely difficult to prove it is a design false vs human false from the airlines, especially before the investigation is completed.
And if anyone is suggesting there may be a scam, any PR, like annnnyyyyy PR would take that opportunity right away, instead of brushing the male lead off.
And the female lead is supposed to be a skilled agent? What kind of undercover agent reveal their guns like that, and what kind of agent would yell "Don't open it!" when they don't want someone to open the box where they hid the IDs, and what kind of agency not having a secret code for comprised phone calls... Plus isn't she is supposed to be the intern (her undercover)? Why would she even be appointed to take care of the meeting?
..... Sorry for the rambling lol Just reminded me how angry I was when I was watching the show cos I was really looking forward to it before it was released haha
Is it just me or is it kinda getting boring..it kinda feels repetitive .. it has an incredible plot and such amazing…
I think ep 9-10 were the buffer episodes to take a breather. I thought it’s repeating at one point but the writer proved me wrong so so far I think the story is very well written and distributed

But yes! Nodame!!! Still one of my FAV!!
