Of course THERE'S NOT A 2FL. At the end of part1, we see a hottie (btw with great chemistry with the ML) but im sure he will make her spit blood for daring to love him while he's facing death in each episode for the main FL.
(ML here is not just jumping hoops, he literally stops an ongoing war between 2 nations for her, maybe in part 2 he will stop the earth for moving i dont know. He is on another lvl, made to make the FL look horrible-in which part the writer gave her all, so that she does everything a monster could do)
The show will trend for many months and hit even higher rating, for all the wrong reasons.

As an original feminist who would gladly take away the right of speech (and write) from misogynists, racists, homophobics and other cuties), let me make something clear:
misogynism is to blame a woman for things that are related to her gender. e.g.
"Mary is an easy girl and cant be taken seriously cause she has multiple lovers"

Misogynism is NOT this:
"Mary has a crappy character, she is manipulative, shows no empathy, she treats people like sh@t, has no respect for anyone and lacks basic social manners"
I ve also read misogynistic comments here (and reported some of them) but the majority of the negative comments, come from people who are blaming the FL character (a fictional one)
for bad character traits and bad behavior etc.
I also find the FL's character very lousy written for reasons i ve explained in other comments here.
Im not a romcom fan, though i ve watched really a lot of them. Im mostly a fan of heavy dark kind of movies/dramas of any genre (even love stories who touch edgy taboo things and have awful endings) and wuxia oldies.
I wouldnt use the word: "hate" for a fictional character, but when i see a pattern that's often used in script writing, i recognize it immediately, thats why this drama didnt click for me after ep 4.

ehm not exactly. Plagiarism means that you present your work and the similarities are so many that one could easily be confused about the identity of the original work.
If what you said was right, who would be that stupid to just make a copy and sell it like that? What you described looks more like copyright infridgement, plagiarism is a bit different.
Plagiarism has a vague meaning, because it must conclude many cases of resemblance to the original work.
Of course GWTW is a very old and very famous work internationally, i doubt they have even heard of korean dramas, im just explaining the whole thing in a few words.
If someone goes to the court cause another person created something that holds big resemblance in many aspects with his work, then he can claim his rights.
Ten miles of peach blossoms is a good example of plagiarism if you want to understand how the whole thing goes.
The 2 stories had differences (the original web novel had a gay couple and some other different stuff) but the legal author made legal accusations. The case was "Frozen" back then-maybe they found a solution before gettint to court-as it happens in many cases by giving an amount of money as a compensation and also there' have been over 10 years since the whole thing and maybe the right to claim is expired

edit: and of course to be inspired is not ethically wrong. Its just when the similarities are so many that they confuse the audience and the resemblance is unavoidable, there it may be a case of plagiarism

1. Book and movie<2 different products. The holder of movie copyrights can still claim his rights no matter what happens to the book (i dont know details for gone with the wind movie-this is a general rule
2. Australia is an exception for the book. Korea is not

edit: with a quick search i found that both the novel and movie are still under copyright law until 2031 and if there wont be a renewal for a legal reason, it will turn to public domain

My problem is not that she denied to run away with him. Is the unreasonably fast and radical change of character.
Its not realistic and usually shows lousy writing
If you want to develop a character in such a short time being , you dont introduce her with so many and so horrible traits.
A lighter version of GC -a better person with a few flaws- would be fine with the current development. Im not surprised, ive seen that happening but now exceeded my expectations. The writer buried the heroine and that s what i dislike.
Anti heroes are my soft spot as long as the writer can convince me about their truth.
After all, fictional world, be it a novel, a script a movie a drama is all about convincing the audience about the fictional people you create. Even if they have wings, tales, 7 lives etc

If she was just a naive spoiled maiden before war, everything would be fine.
But she wasnt. On the contrary she was the ultimate anti-heroine, a v ery cr@ppy one, which i love at times as i am an anti hero fan in dramas.
But all these horrible traits she had, dont suddenly change to the point of being Holy Mother at once. Actually irl these traits are not changed, they may be smoother as time and radical events happen to a person, considering that he/she will be aware and sincerely developes some good traits.

On the contrary, i care mostly about character development. But in the proper way, in time and not suddenly from point A to point Z.
People dont change radically like that.
She wasnt just a naive maiden, but a manipulative creature, not caring for cheating friends, sending men to death, these are very bad traits to be changed that easily. Yes its lousy writing.

Atali, there's no need for a spin off.
Its called "introduction of characters" and usually takes place during the first 1-3 episodes for a 16-20 length drama.
During that introduction, we learned that GC is a strong minded, spoiled young lady, an innocent seductress for the naive boys of the village, and a person with no values like friendship, family etc.
Not only she wanted her bf's fiance, but she was provoking her during classes, she was plotting to steal him, she was literally garbage.
She was even responsible for a man's death when she asked him to protect her crush.
Im fine with garbage characters-actually i love them at times.
BUT. To have a character development, you need TIME and certain events. A few months of invasions and war, is not enough time for that huge change, to suddenly care about family, friends, the village, the planet and so on.
This is just louzy writing.

I dont see any resemblance of a really sad real life story with a very bad written fictional character, that's all. All these very nice life values "to not step on people's misery so to be happy"...where did they live when she was promising marriage to the chubby boy, literally sending him to his death, to protect her crush-who was btw her bs'f fiance?
And also, where did these values go when ML asked her " promise me you ll never think of him (her 1st crush) again and i wont go to war"?
She could literally LIE to save a person for going to straight death.
And lest not forget, she answered "i cant promise that" to her supposed to be LOVER.
I cant remember any FL character in asian dramas, so badly written.
She really had the potential to be a great developing character and all, but the writer chose to bury her heroically.

I ve watched that episode (i ve already watched more than half of it) i just didnt remember the father.

So to sum up:
Gil Chae has run out of opportunities to give, thats why she denies to give an opportunity to her "Lover" for whom she was yelling on a hill holding his clothes like a fresh widow.
The reason she run out of opportunities (but still has plenty of zero f@cks given only for the ML)
is that she gave them all to her first love-and her bf's fiancee, during the time when she was plotting endlessly behind her bf's back, to take him from her.
Plus the opportunity she gave to that later guy-the official.
So total of opportunities left for the ML: ZERO.
total of zero f@cks given for the ML: thousands.

Edit: i forgot the greatest opportunity of all, the one she gave to the chubby boy, to go to war and get killed, promising him to marry him, as long as he protects her crush (her bf's fiance-lets keep repeating that)
which was a unique opportunity for him to get killed.
