And then some people comment back to us that this isnt a rom com then tell me what is this cuz this aint romance…
In ROF she was cornered and literally blackmailed with her life by the emperor to have that wedding plus the heavy political reasons behind this certain wedding. And she was fully in love with Ning Yi but he turned to be very ambitious losing himself, at the later episodes he was even abandoned by his mentor and best friend. His father the emperor also predicted that power changes a man . FL there also had a huge reason for being cornered and choose suicide. She had her whole clan having expectations from her, and a brother. She had to choose between ning yi and her clan so she chose death for the exact reason that she loved him too much.
I wouldnt dare to compare Claire- a true fighter and feminist and survivor, with our FL here. And i also dont see…
I was talking about comparing Claire and Gil Chae, in other terms-its also a bad idea to compare heroes/heroines of different cultures-countries-eras, just for the sake of the conversation, yes i did compare them and not by the fact of who ended with whom. Its just that Claire's character is far more well written in many ways. Feminism also doesnt mean to send a man into war with a fake promise to marry him (and having him killed at the end, protecting your crush, as you requested), and also feminism doesnt mean to treat your supposed to be lover like cr@p. So in that aspect the writers did an awful and unfair job with Gil Chae. Of course she is a fighter and a survivor, nobody denied that.
Seems like even Korean watchers are angry ?? At least thats what someone wrote, canβt confirm if its True or…
Its true. Koreans on youtube comments section, under previews and parts, are hitting a record in korean cursing and crying! The drama was very anticipated as a heavy romance-full of passion-stuff, so i guess they lost control
And then some people comment back to us that this isnt a rom com then tell me what is this cuz this aint romance…
Queen in HM, is so f@ good, that i also watched the chinese version with Jing Bo ran, and though it was many levels below the korean version, it was that good. The couple is epic, storywise and actingwise, it was a very adorable and charming story as a whole, everything made sense, very well executed, Have a nice watch of it, i think you ll enjoy!
All the promos for this have been talking about how sad it was going to be and before it aired many people were…
The problem is not the high chance of a bad ending. But the fact that the FL is depicted to have very mediocre feelings about the ML. On the contrary, historical dramas have more passionate love stories, because the obstacles are more serious, war, death, social restrictions etc. We are used to see lovers being tortured and be apart for long, but in every case, they were crazy for each other-at least from a point of the story and on. Here they spent half the 1st part with the FL having a crush on her bf's fiance and at the end she harshly rejects him with a letter colder than ice. The other problem is the genre. If romance was a side story or slight, everyone would be fine (the pure romance fans wouldt even watch it at all). But a drama called Lovers, should have lovers, not a man obsessed over a woman. Nobody expects sugarcoated moments in the middle of a war. But the least of expectations should always be 2 lovers who are both in love enough to justify the whole genre.
And then some people comment back to us that this isnt a rom com then tell me what is this cuz this aint romance…
Right. Even Rise of Phoenixes (that objectively speaking, threw all of us to the realms of hell for the last 6 episodes in-a-row) did the romance in a better way, but we didnt have that much expectations, cause it was a heavy political story since the beginning. And also was a masterpiece aesthetically-the costumes the lighting, THE Music, the cast, everything. And even though i was opposing the idea of being truly inspired from GWTW, if they indeed tried to create a resemblance, it will be a sinking boat till the end. Cause the dynamics in GWTW were by far very different, the era, the characters, the social background, even the social classes.
I was angry at the fl yesterday, but today I understand her decision, even though as a guy I really feel horrible…
I 'd never hate any hero/heroine, but her mediocre feelings....i find them lets say inappropriate for a pure romance drama, especially a historical one, where emotions are often depicted in a more passionate way cause of more serious obstacles (society restrictions, wars so many things between a man and a woman) She could easily make the same choice, but they should show to the audience how much she is suffering, and that letter-hm-had no excuse to be that harsh I was shipping him with RE and now im gonna be in 2 ships, both with my babe RE and the new 2Fl lol
The last episode is so alike Outlander, I was not surprised, anyway, we still have part 2 to cheer for our heroes…
I wouldnt dare to compare Claire- a true fighter and feminist and survivor, with our FL here. And i also dont see how they will clear up all this mess in only 10 ep left during the 2nd part
And then some people comment back to us that this isnt a rom com then tell me what is this cuz this aint romance…
By title and by genre it was meant to be a pure romance-historical drama. Not a slight romance-political-war-drama. If the genre was of other kind and the romance a side story, it would be fine. Period. There are no excuses for all this awful depiction of the supposed "Love story" . There's no love story to begin with. There is an obsessive man that somehow something went wrong with his hormonic reaction and fell hard for a girl and a girl who is not in love with him. Of course there are layers in human emotions, i get it that her not loving him enough to go with him is ok in real life, but there is NO romance drama with mediocre emotions. Romance stories need full hearted feelings and lovers who are ready (at least from a point of the story and on ) to fall literally into fire for their lover. BOTH. I even read people saying that its the best historical-war depicting-battle drama. I wonder, have they ever watched a real historical-political-war drama?
oh yes! that's why in many cases, oldies are goldies-even in historical k and chinese ones!
Its been centuries since i watched western dramas, the last one was outlander and i dropped it to catch up some time in the future-but outlander has epic dynamics between the couple. I doubt if there was such a couple in a long drama like that, for years. if we re talking about a woman-survivor-fighter, in a time travel trope, a real original feminist by nature and by nurture, Claire is a whole category of her own!
The princess man π i actually recommended people to watch TPM on this page , because the FL here truly loved…
Even in Till the end of the moon that was crappy in so many ways (i like the leads so i digested all the mishaps and flaws-including almost losing my eyesight from the bad color palette-brightness-whole messy aesthetics), there was a right proportion of "revenge-love-hate-denial-love again" etc. And dont tell me what Cheng Yi did for the FL...he's got a personal record of spitting blood in L&R lol!
Its just that Claire's character is far more well written in many ways.
