Im fine with twisted or bad or anything because i dont want relatable things when i watch or read something so it would be fine. I mean i dont necessarily want to approve of a hero or like him/her-on the contrary- i read/watch things even when i completely reject or even hate what a character does. Art products (of any kind and quality from low to high) have no obligation to form cultures. It is what it is. If an audience learns how to behave from shows/books/films/art in general, then its an audience that can easily be manipulated by literally anything and anyone.
Take your puritanism elsewhere and simply dont watch things that trigger you. Art shoud be free. Go blame Visconti, Bukowski, Nabokov, Marquis Sade etc.
People with basic education should not copy what they watch, and in any case if someone finds a "bad" thing relatable, then its already inside him/her.

To me, only Love and Destiny gave such depth, even though the story line was weak as in most of xianxia. Here they could do it to, they had the potential, the cast is doing a great job, but at some point everything looks childish, the visuals, that damn cake makeup, the slow mo...

Tbh, from what you and others wrote about his character in the novel, i 'd prefer if they ve shown him a bit darker in the drama. But ok we already have enough frustration to deal with, i dont want to attract more negative karma for us as an audience! (esp the s*x scene which someone-or you, i cant remember-described here in the comments-where he is really mean-i d like to see this part even in the dream arc)

I havent read the novel but considering the hype of this drama for so many years, i think they ll give an open -kind of- ending in the drama.
Maybe a reincarnation, or a memory loss, or a fresh start after some hundreds of years. I dont know just my intuition

And to add, at some point i think he said: i always tried to imitate kindness but no god ever saw me. For a person with such traumatised childhood rejection and abuse, he turned to be quite deсent, considering that he never harmed (at least up to the ep im watching) anyone who didnt deserve it. He also offered alliance to SJ's brother and later on to the Prince Lin. I wouldnt be that kind if i had no emotions. Actually im not that kind even now lol

Guys, a simple suggestion:
dont skip the dream arc. Tooooo much sugar for the CP, which otherwise we wouldnt be able to enjoy in that lighthearted tone during the main arc. Plus, Bai Lu's outfits are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good in this dream arc that i almost forgot the "cake" make up, the wig-glue and the bad sync in dubbing!

Oh god though i havent read the novel, i suspected all your points especially the part "things are gonna be crazy so enjoy this arc" hahahahah
I also liked very much this dream arc and i prefer it than to watch a plain narration of the things happened back then.

To be honest, besides the lack of empathy which he lacks clearly, considering the abuse he has been through since childhood, well, i would have been formed in a MUCH worse personality lol! Up to now, he hasnt been unfair to whom he kills or punishes.

Ikr? I watched the whole last episode (i had it fast forward and i already saw the mess) but i didnt expect such madness! The writers were clearly high on meds/alcohol or possesed by some spirit who ruins dramas. The main leads indeed were 100% out of character with the lame excuse that they lost their superpowers and they couldnt handle it. REALLY? They could have spent tha last episode telling ML''s story before she comes to the company, how did she end up there, if he did anything to get her there, there were 23 whole years to cover with very nice solid elements but instead they prefered to destroy their characters.
By the way, the thing that also hit me hard was during the night that ML as a child brings FL to her parents. He was tired, walking all day to find her home, wet to the bone, and instead her parents inviting him in or at least DRIVE THE CHILD TO THE ORPHANAGE, they just...thanked him a lot and BYEBYE! What was that? What pervert wrote the last 2 ep!

Sadly people often romantisizing the whole human nature and life facts, not only mental disorders. Lack of empathy? Pink glasses? Maybe all of the above
