Title The Guest
Well written drama. Loved every minute of it! I’d wish we would get more shows as good and unique as this one.

My main issue with S1 was the childish female lead and I’m so glad that they didn’t repeated this mistake…
I think that’s fine. In the end it always comes down to personal preferences anyway.

I watched for IU. She was gorgeous as always.

The movie is as expected predictable and forgettable. But if you’re in the mood for something light, it’s a good choice.

It’s not really a love triangle because the second guy is never considered as love interest but in it’s own…
I see. Okay, then we have different limits. For me it only starts to get annoying when the actress leads the 2nd dude on. But interesting to know how different we are. 😂

It’s an allegory on the perverted education system and makes completely sense. I don’t understand the issue.…
I see. You take everything literally.

I’d say sometimes the patriarchal structure and the behavior of the ml in a few scenes. Like grabbing hands and the uncomfortable old tropes.

Cute drama but nothing special. I liked the Leads and many more supportive characters here compared to other shows. If you want to watch a slow burn romance, that’s the drama for you.

Korean dramas of the genre always work with allegories and metaphors.

Thought they would be killed by spheres but no it was that perverted bastard who killed them...I mean they survived…
It’s an allegory on the perverted education system and makes completely sense. I don’t understand the issue. The aliens have never been the center of the show but the mental mindset of the pupils.

I understand where people are coming from in hating part 2 but I think they're missing the point of the show/original…
I agree. It seems many didn’t understand the show and don’t have enough knowledge or interest about the country itself to pick up all allegories/metaphors along the way.

On Duty after School: Part 1 May 10, 2023
I was surprised by the well done CGI effects and the realistic script. The underlining tone is a clear critic on the perverted education system and the treatment of the Sewol generation. They implemented these issues very naturally. I really liked the different perspectives: pupils behavior under adult guidance and their emancipation. The PTSD and mental breakdown issue is strongly ignored but so obvious - like in the Korean society who just started to look into this matter. If you don’t focus on the literal Sphere fight but have knowledge about the Korean society and customs you will have a blast with the show. If you’re only in for the action I can’t say much because this part was also well done. I really enjoyed the whole series and can recommend it.

Tbh I’m glad I watched both seasons and I highly disagree on the ‘S2 is completely different’ or ‘I should’ve listened to the others and now I hate the season for the same reasons’ takes. Nah! The drama is consistent and shows growth. I don’t know why many people want to keep the characters on the first level of understanding the issue. It’s rather frustrating to see that many people doesn’t seem to have grasped the essence of the show. It’s a pity!
