Do not come to hasty conclusions- episode 7 is too early
Like I said, what I've seen until now made me lose all motivation to carry on watching. Whatever reason they will give for the ML's behavior (there undoubtedly will be one, childhood trauma or whatever) can at most explain why he's treating people like crap, but it won't excuse his behavior. I simply can't watch a drama where I'm unable to identify/sympathize with the leads.
Watched up to ep 7 so I don‘t know whether it gets better and I actually don‘t care because by now I have lost all motivation and desire to watch any further.
The ML is your typical cold, arrogant genius type who treats everyone like crap and has some serious superiority complex. The only thing that makes me feel even more disgusted is how the FL is defending his behavior.
I feel sympathy for the people who have to put up with this kind of shit, while apparently all the adults are busy sucking up to our wonder child. I would never want to meet this kind of asshole in real life and I certainly wouldn‘t want to work with them.
On a side note, if you know only the slightest thing about coding this drama will be an absolute cringefest for you.
Damn those ninjas cutting onions. I stayed strong 'til ep 9, but the last episode got me. Also, the OST is crazy good. I will definitely come back to this one every now and then when I'm in the mood. I like that it's not too long, perfect to watch in one weekend.
This drama suffers from the same problem as many other CDramas; the cast is too young, especially the ML. Heck, he looks like a college kid next to the female lead (6 year age difference). Because of this, when he acts all cool, mysterious, and domineering it's simply cringy as hell. Like a kid acting as an adult. Imagine someone older like Li Xian, Liu Xue Yi or Yang Yang playing the ML instead. And then tell me the impact wouldn't be on a totally different level. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying FZX can't act, just that imo he's too young for the role.
I'm not impressed. This was pretty bland to be honest. I really like PMY and GKP, however they couldn’t save this mess of a script. The story was still alright up to ep 10 or so, but from there it went down hill quickly. All the drama towards the end felt weirdly out of place. In addition, most of the support characters were completely unnecessary for the development of the story line.
This hasn't even been released yet so why are people crying that it shouldn't get a second season. I will never…
I wouldn’t call myself a purist, my dislike for multi-season dramas mostly comes down to:
1. I have to wait between seasons (many weeks/months), Making me loose interest
2. I'm worried that the kdrama scene will go to crap as it happened with American/western dramas where they milk dramas for profit until even the most dedicated fans get tired of the series. Nobody needs a 18 seasons drama where the cast gets slowly replaced until there no longer is any one of the original cast left
It has a very strong theme it sets out but the short episodes kind of have everything unfolding abit too fast. Is…
I didn’t like his character in WWL. How does his role here compare? Also, how is this drama in terms of physical intimacy? I liked Qin Lan in TRL, however that one was rather conservative (few kisses etc.)
Just saw the trailer Why does it look so cheap 😭😭😭
I think it looks fine 🤔 the trailer gives off a rather somber and realistic vibe though. No background music and very heavy on dialogue. Personally, I wouldn’t categorize it as cheap, though it certainly does not look like a high budget drama…
She's too rude, she should understand his worries, she might be killed, he can't just encourage her without fearing…
I felt the same. She completely disregards his feelings and fears and just selfishly makes decisions as if he’s got nothing to do with it. That’s not how a relationship works.
Why do you think it's pointless exactly. The idea was to give shanggu another chance at life and to save the three…
First of all I’d suggest you put this as a spoiler. As for why I think his plan was pointless: He did. all this acting, making Shangu hate him so she would not blame herself when he sacrifices himself for her. But what was the result? The moment she regained her memories she knew almost everything and found out about the rest. The whole act not only failed to save her from blaming herself, it also robbed her of the last few years she could have spent together with him in love.
And for the ending: When you have a fantasy story with magic in it, there is this big opportunity and also temptation for the author to explain everything with magic. However, in my opinion for fantasy there is only one single rule: The story has to abide by the laws it sets down. Stuff like: Magic can’t bring the dead back, if you make this a truth in you story you can’t suddenly use magic as an explanation for some character resurrecting. And this is what happened here. Death was made out to be universal and absolute. Therefore, it made zero sense for Bai Jue to come back to life in the end. It also made the 'Doom of chaos‘ completely irrelevant. It was supposed to be a catastrophe, but in the end it wasn’t a big deal at all. A True god could seal it and then just come back to life completely fine. What was even the point then?
Bai Jue's "big secret plan" in the second half of the drama was completely pointless. And then this ending… let’s just pull some miracle crap in the last 60sec that does not make any sense. The only thing that stood out to me about this drama is the OST and the visual effects. The rest was pretty meh. Lacking communication, plot holes, and lots of stupid characters.
I totally shot myself in the foot just now. After waiting for more than a year I had kind of gotten to terms with waiting for this drama to air. I was still eagerly anticipating, however more and more the anticipation moved to the back of my head, settling into a kind of constant background noise. Always there, yet not too overbearing to manage. That was until I just made the huge mistake of watching the teaser again after maybe 6 months. FML what have I done?? Now I'll be back to checking this damn page five times a day for release updates. See you in a couple of hours T_T
Did you ever find out? I’m worrying about the same thing.
Fair enough xD I went all the way back and found a comment from 2 years ago stating they start college life around ep 14 and they graduate around ep 26. So, apparently it’s pretty much half / half for high school and college.
