Wow, you could not be more wrong. Daddi Tang was awesome and showed he definitely has Male Lead status. Super…
Sorry, I didn't want to offend anybody. Sure, he's handsome (though most actors are), however I find his acting to be average at best and when compared to Xing Fei his character portrayal feels kinda flat. So, what I mean is that he isn't necessarily a bad actor, but just that the pairing didn't work in his favor. Just my personal opinion though.
What can I say? If you are looking for a drama without drama..here you go. Many people before me wrote that it…
What you described sounds an awful lot like the recent trend in C-Dramas: Sweetness overload without any conflict, drama or for that matter story. I rarely watch J-Dramas, but from those I've seen, they normally tend to be more complex and darker than their Korean or Chinese counterparts so I didn't expect this from a Japanese production. Though, maybe I've just not seen enough to get a clear picture.
Anyway, thanks for the warning, I'll stay away from this one. Romance without drama might excite some younger audiences, but like you I find this kind of drama rather tedious and plainly put it's the production saving money by skimping on the writing part. I don't feel like rewarding this kind of development by spending time on it.
Ugh, another generic fluff CDrama. I enjoyed this type of drama when I first started out, but after watching a few I just feel bored. These shows are like junk food - it gets you addicted until you take away the flavorings (eye candy / fluff) and all you're left with is garbage. Only watching this because of Xing Fei tbh, she's a skilled actress. Unfortunately, her being good makes it even more obvious that Daddi Tang is not up to par.
I'm on ep 7 and so far Ju Kyung's mum is god damn awful. I hope she's going to behave like a mother at some point, because at the moment she's a massive failure in this regard.
I know everyone on the list (and I would also mostly agree with the placements), apart from the 1st placed Park Shin Hye.... I have never heard of her and also haven't seen any of her dramas lol
My favorite actresses are IU, Park Min Young and Go Bo Gyeol, who unfortunately didn't make it on the list :(
20 episodes in and I'm pretty satisfied so far. The characters are great, the FL in particular is very well portrayed. In my opinion she hits that perfect middle ground between maturity and innocence. She acts very cute and shy like a younger girl would, but without the usual rashness and naivety this age normally entails, making this a very fresh experience (One of the main reasons why I love these types of 'going-back-in-time-shows').
Story wise the show does not really reinvent the wheel, the family drama between Yi Pei and his uncle seems pretty standard, so does the plot line of the FL's mother being ill as well as the (double) love triangle. A bit of fresh air comes in the form of Wei Wei's character, who I personally really like. Her being friends with the FL who will probably end up as her rival in love is also unusual. Nonetheless, she's awesome, though her character seems to be set up for misery, I hope she will get her happy ending with Yi Pei. Their characters clash on every level, but at the same time fit really well. Though It's heavily implied that Yi Pei likes the FL his chances seem slim. The drama clearly goes for that 'destined lovers overcoming time and space' vibe making Shin Jian x Jia Cheng almost guaranteed (unless it's a tragic ending which I hope it's not).
The pacing is also fine up until now, however now that the first two big hurdles are overcome the tension seems to lessen somewhat. I guess (hope) this is just a short transition phase though, laying the foundation for the next plot line, before picking up pace again.
Overall I'm looking forward to the rest of the show. If the second half is as good as the first one, this might actually become one of my favorite CDramas.
I came here for some good romance XD Total fail, should have checked the comments first. Don't get me wrong, the drama is really good, at least from what I've seen so far (ep. 7), just not the love story I was looking for, will put this on hold until I'm in the right mood.
This kind of media coverage should always be taken with a pinch of salt since often it only tells part of the true story. When celebrities are involved, the media and public opinion become a weapon and just the fact that one party decided to disclose information about this should give rise to doubts. They certainly didn't do their children any favor by dragging this into the public realm.
I don't want to excuse this kind of behavior though. After all, deciding to have two children just to break up before they are even born already seems terribly irresponsible (aborting them or giving them up for adoption etc. even more so - if it's true). However, who knows what actually happened? Audio and video recordings can always been taken out of context (wouldn't be the first time) and only the people involved know the whole truth.
It shouldn't be the public to judge this case based on incomplete information, though sadly it looks like this is how it's going to turn out. Also, the other people who are part of the drama production are now going to pay the price for something that wasn't their fault. This type of collective punishment seems very unfair.
Dropped at ep. 15. I have no idea how this got an 8.4 Rating. There is no story line, just the two leads going…
"That's the story about. It's about how they grow more closer." -> Yes, the story is about the leads' relationship. Their relationship that has neither substance nor depth, no conflict and no tension. To sum it up, it's BORING. Not that you can expect anything interesting from a relationship between 2 one-dimensional characters.
"don't need to compare with the reality" -> I guess you referring to my criticism about the actor being ill fit for the role. Well, what can I say. Would you cast actors in their 40s as high school students? Obviously not, because they would look nothing like students. I'm not really comparing the drama to reality (otherwise I would have pointed out a lot more things). My point is, the ml was chosen for his pretty face, not because he fitted the role. I guess they tried to use eye candy to compensate for the bad writing.
"Waste of time who asked you to see." -> Believe me, I wish I hadn't.
"And watch the later episodes before coming to a conclusion" -> If the first 60% of a drama are utter garbage, it's beyond saving. Even if the rest was decent (which I highly doubt) it's still a bad drama.
"it's a slow drama" -> It's not slow, it's going nowhere. There is a difference.
"the most cutest" -> More like corny and cringeworthy.
"maybe not your type" -> Well, you got that right.
You like the drama I get it, plenty others do too apparently. Good for you. It doesn't make the drama any better though. It's just one of the many generic Chinese dramas with bad writing and pretty actors. Feel free to disagree, I don't care.
For me it depends on if I search for something specific because I'm looking for a certain genre for example (using…
Same for me, at times I feel like watching a specific type of drama or one with a specific scenario (eg. school romance, ceo/employee) other times I don't really know what I want to watch and just click through mdl to find something interesting. For that I also like to browse the recommendation section of the forums. It's always interesting to see what other people are looking for. I regularly find some hidden gems there, especially for niche categories.
The initial motivation to consider a show is mostly random for me: Tag search, cover design, popular upcoming shows, other shows with actors that were on shows I previously watched etc. Once a show catches my eye I do this:
1. Genre/Tags: Is there any romance? No tragedy tag? = mostly good to go (I also stay away from the amnesia and misunderstandings tags) 2. Synopsis: Does the story sound interesting? (This depends mostly on my current mood though) 3. Cast: which characters are listed as leads + the order to figure out who is probably going to end up together. I don’t pay too much attention to the actors though. 4. Comments: I skim through the comment section to get an impression what people liked and disliked about the show.
I can see him falling in love with her. Because he WAS the big brother at first. He supported and protected her…
I wasn’t referring to their age when I talked about the “generation gap”. I was purely considering the characters’ personalities.
The FL is very immature for her age and the MC is just a lot more grounded. From my perspective (obviously this depends on the person) there is a zero percent chance that I would have feelings for someone who behaves like someone half my age.
Now this again is completely unrelated to age. If they were 10 years older than me and behaved like an immature teenager it would be the same thing. On the other hand if they are 15 years younger but acted like a mature adult I wouldn’t mind at all.
So, from my personal perspective the ML falling for the FL is just plain unbelievable. Is it impossible to happen? Of course not, it’s just that I couldn’t identify with this kind of development at all.
Now, this doesn’t make this a bad drama which also wasn’t the point I was trying to convey. There should be plenty of people who are fine with this or don’t care. I just got stuck on this development for some reason and thus didn’t enjoy the show as much as I otherwise probably would have.

It's just your run of the mill Chinese romcom with generic plot lines, an obnoxious ml and a weak fl. Nothing particularly innovative about it imho.
