This is why I love this drama. I also love that it shows Doek-Im’s feelings even better than the novel translations…
How monumentally tragic that even after arriving at that conclusion, and being with the man she loves, she still can't find happiness. She's a woman for a different age in time, different circumstances.
I found the song at the very last scene of ep. 13 to be really amazing! Does anyone know the name?
It wasn't announced yet, but I saw the singer is Lee Seon Hee, if that helps. Someone posted it on YouTube https://youtu.be/NQeOEkgtvrc <-- spoiler as it's taken from the scene itself
Man…Doek-Ro goes nuts and Jeongjo is left holding the bag because of favoring him. 🤦🏻♀️😡Time…
Looks like they'll follow the novel, where he kicks her out of palace. That also implies the coming of the second concubine. We'll seeeee. I may be in the minority, but I am OK that they're condensing all these scenes from the novel. The translations I've read read more like an endless push and pull without much development, we don't need to see 7 episodes of that.

That's such great context, thank you! For a moment there, I wondered what good is it to sacrifice her love for fear of losing herself, when already she has little agency (other than refusing him and his mother, I'm amazed at how they respect her wishes) and even if she refuses to have him, she still has to share him because her own feelings don't subside.
In the end, what matters is that it's her choice, no matter what choice she makes and whatever consequences. That's what's important to her. I guess that, even without Court Lady Jo around, she still feels manipulated into giving herself to him.
I can't get over the tension, suffocation she experiences at thinking how influential she is over San (her comment that the traitors have to pay for their deeds leading to him agreeing to kill his own brother) and his own guilt and grief, disguised in drunken laughter through tears, at doing what must be done.
The anger and betrayal he feels at her avoiding his proposal, while she was honest with his mother instead. I felt that!
Her jealousy over Won Bin and acceptance of her fate, following her decision to remain true to her conviction - she's really in a no-win situation. Either option leads to pain.
I loved seeing Deokro juxtaposed with the sun in the painting behind the throne - his ambition in full exposure.
This is the stuff of Shakespearean tragedy, I continue to be in awe.

New, previously unannounced OST was added to today's episode, I really don't want to hope for a surprise Junho OST but I can't help myself.
