Less than one month before the release of one of the most anticipated K-dramas of 2026, the new drama from the…
We have seen how IU is able to save a kdrama even when she is with a younger actor (Hotel del Luna).
And IU dramas are all highly rated not because of her fanbase, but because each single drama is geniunely amazing.
The main concern is with the writing. We have seen with "The King", even with the cast is all stars, when the writers and directors have great track-record, they can still flop a drama unfortunately.

Detailed and accurate analysis of the show. I enjoyed it but i agree with everything you have said. The shifting point at episode 7 was great!! usually such shifts destroy the drama but this time they nailed it and it added so much depth.

ML is the same character in almost everyshow. Always this sharp (T-Personality) with glaring eyes and fact bombing.

The only think i could not really understand is.. What happened when she came back from the airport and they both admitted to liking each other but fought and went in seperate ways. I could not understand why did they fight and why did they not get together then? It's a missing puzzle for me and i would appreciate some explaining.

I LOVE how you expressed this. I agree so much on the casting. I knew FL was charasmatic but she did an outstanding job on this role. Her yearning for the FL is so good, her goofiness and laughter is addictive.

Here for recommendations before I jump on this show
historical rom-com: The king’s affection. light and very entertaining | first love school then adults rom-com: Our Beloved Summer. Very heartwarming and healing.| Mature romance: Encounter/Boyfriend. a drama that feels like a book, a novel. very beautiful first 2 episodes in Cuba and amazing OSTs

can someone suggest me similar drama like this?
Lovers of the Red Sky: very similar.
Bulgasal: a fusion between modern and historical, but i like it!

True.. They took it way too seriously instead of just enjoying the drama...
Yup. The comedy was so on point. They never tried to complicate the plot and it stayed very simple and linear.

I really loved it as well. It was very light to watch, very funny. The comedy was great, the chemsitry between them was amazing!! Suzy killed it. People expected this drama to be way more serious thats why they are disappointed.
Noctis Oct 5, 2025
Totally agree with you!! Suzy outshined all her previous roles where she was not really perfect. This time she nailed it!
Also the story is not similar to any of those dramas mentioned. I believe that there were many overlapping with other dramas, but that what made it actually better not worse!!
The start between the ML and FL resemebels The King, Suzy personality resembles IU in Hotel del Luna, and more details. I loved this drama because it was very light to watch and enjoyable. People were taking it way too seriously that they got disappointed.

i really don't understand why such empty shows keep on getting viral, while amazing shows die away without recognition. How long do we have to suffer from this in the kdrama industry?
I agree with everything you said.

May i ask if its one of your personal favs, why only 7.5?
I really don't understand. Everyone is praising the drama so well but all of them have 8.5 or 7.5. What is the 9.5 and 10 are for then?
I am not judging, just genuinely asking.

that part really annoyed the hell out of me too...i mean yes, he was an idiot but he wasn't the one who stole…
You are right, he did not ask them. But knowing korean culture, saying he did not do it would be just a man making excuses which is not attractive at all. He had to take responsibility for everything happened in the past and denying that he didn't steal the recipe only this time won't make a big difference. I actually loved it more that she accepted him the way he is believing he remorsed and changed.

He actually was the one teaching them all of that for years and it was his plan since the start to do that. It's ridiculous from their POV that he changed over night. They just carried out his original plan. Of course they are at fault, but can't say that Beom U didn't play a part in this.

yeah, the acting was great to be honest. I totally believe that Go Minsi carried. It was enjoyable overall with flaws.

I truly enjoyed it and it was what I needed at this time of my life. I know it's not for everyone and the script…
totally agree! That's what beautiful about kdramas. Perfect or incomplete, they can serve a good delivery depending on what place are you in right now. Happened with me a lot before. I enjoyed it too.
