I felt the same before i watch Under The Power. Then tried watching his other dramas but couldnt finish it. I think how good an actor/actress is depends on the whole cast and crew as well. Especially if he's paired with actress of cheerful personality like Seven Tan and Bai Lu he shines maybe cos he has this 'constipated' look most of the time as if in need of love and care hahaha.... Hoping that the pairing with Reba is good too.
I think they still produce too much rubbish, but there are some real gems every year in the modern and historical…

I started looking out for Allen's drama after watching him in Under The Power. When i first started watching, his stern, 'constipated' look was off-putting but it slowly grew endearing (sorry if it sounds insulting. If you can stomach bad CGI (small part only), its worth watching for him.
