lol I feel like I'm always rooting for the underrated underdog dramas lately. While most people preferred Kill Me Love Me or Rise of Ning, I followed Snowy Nights. Now most people preferred and strongly promote Story of Pearl Girl, but I'm actually rooting for LGIEF. Now I'm questioning my taste but can't help it I like what I like
I understand why I turn away from this drama initially now. I think it was because the settings of the story that they introduce in the first episode made me really uncomfortable. Not only are the slaves treated as less than human but women were also treated as breeding farm to bear babies to continue being diver slaves for generations. Usually I preferred dark vibe dramas so I thought nothing much of it at first since its just the background story but I think those heavy issues can get to me too as a female. There were just so many things wrong with that context-my thoughts were going what if incest? and this is what happen if you're a GOT watcher but ofc no way chinese gov will will allow that sort of thing to aired so I quickly cross that thought lol (sorry children) Not to mention FL almost got raped and then got mistreated and kick around... and then theres the ML indifferent attitude (me not really liking that braided smirk look of his either)... sigh~ 😅😩
So after watching 1st epi of TSOPG, I went off to watch LGIEF and boy was it a joy. Not gonna lie, I got hook to LGIEF on that first epi and binge the rest. Thats for sure my go-to for this month now. 🤩
And then I ran out of anything else really interesting to watch so out of boredom and well, curiosity, I feel I should give this drama another chance thus I continue on (trying to be brave here). What finally touch me and draws me in is when FL found out Lady Eight is her mother. ZLS's crying is amazing, pull at my heartstring everytime and the scene was so heartbreaking. 😭
As you move forward, you get to see more layers to the ML's character as well (LYN really grew on you the more you watch him just like in AJTL), so I believe this will also be worth the watch for anyone who can get past that 1st episode. 👍
Chen Du Ling is everywhere 😆 I haven't gotten her character in Til The End of the Moon 😅
Yeah one can see that she is working hard whether its cameos, support roles or main roles, she is making every effort to gain experience no matter how small the role and just putting herself out there. I actually quite like that to the point that I think any drama shes in would be quite good or at least decent
Okay I'm officially hook here as well. I actually enjoy this more over the Story of Pearl Girl, which is odd since I usually prefer the darker vibe story and I also like ZLS and LYN, but there was something about it that didn't really catch me. I can't quite pinpoint what that is yet.
Well, once again this sucks. No wonder I haven't seen her in any dramas in the last 2 years. Seem like three of her dramas will end up get shelved and one will be re-shoot with a new FL. What a pain, you'll think with so many crackdowns on celebrity's tax evasions in recent years that these people should knew better.
My two cents: This drama is a mixed bag for me. I find it interesting in the initial episodes but then throughout I couldn't feel any chemistry between the main leads thus it falls flat. FL's expressions are a hit or miss at times and SFL have a poker face on mostly that its kinda lacking. As though to compensate for them, the ML and SML portray a lot of emotions, so overall it was kinda unbalanced. If there is any chemistry, I would find myself rewatching lot of their scenes together, but sadly, once I finish their scenes, I was done and their ending- whether its a HE or SE have no impact on me at all.
Maybe the timing of this drama being aired just wasn't right so I don't feel them like some audience do. I first got my heart on a wringer after Love of Nirvana and then twisted again after Snowy Nights. But there was barely any intimate scenes in those two dramas and I still kept lingering on those two couples in the last month. I could rewatch their scenes over and over and not get bored from their longing stares, their simple yet deep conversations or their angstiness. Their endings may not be the kind I like but it was an emotional impact and left a strong impression. That kind of chemistry is truly on another level that I don't think KMLM can match.
omg never realize this drama exist until now so start first episode and to my surprise Neo look so young and we get him shirtless 😍❤️. Binge watch mode on
This drama is not unwatchable as FL is bold and likeable, but I feel it's a bit slow pace and a little bit repetitive plotwise for a short drama. ML does indeed look younger compared to FL. He look more like her brother than lover so I can't really feel much romance or chemistry.
This feel like a mashup of the The Double with the closeup shots and My Journey to You with more tint of comedy fantasy. Love the OST and cinematic scenes. Pretty interesting
If you're watching this drama for the romance, then I suggest steer clear of this one. While the Main leads may be kinda cute when theyre together mostly in the beginning but they spent more time apart the entire drama after that. Not to mention, I feel there is zero trust between them. The continuous misunderstandings are frustrating without either one making any effort to clarify things. ML gets hostile and childish with FL when even the smallest issues arise. Constant bickering, angsty sarcasm, pride battles and cold wars. One of the worst couple ever in dramaland if not the worst.
There are so many other couples with healthier relationships and most have a BE/SE but this one get a HE? What a joke. It makes way more sense if they were to part ways forever. So annoying, really not worth it
Despite the regretful ending, Li Qin and Joseph's performance in the last episodes leaves a lasting impression. This drama is deep and memorable. Definitely not something I'll forget anytime down the line.
Joseph really prepping well for his tragic dramas (upcoming xianxia with Bai Lu). I bet he learned all these anguish, angsty expressions from Cheng Yi from MLC. lol He really evolve as an actor now
I think that if he had known she was there, he probably would not have gone forward with his mission and they…
Like I give a damn about his mission. ZY killed the doctrine leader, his mission was over before it even started. And his sixth brother don't deserve any attention. ZB couldve had his last moments with ZY then deal with him later
Ty. Now if they won't let ZB and ZY meet again at all or until the final episode, at least I won't be so bored…
I have other things to pass time too, what I meant is I like watching ZB and ZY chemistry on screen, even when they have no kiss or intimate scenes, just them staring at each other or be each other soothing company is enough to warm me up. I'm not so focused when it comes to other part of the drama like with the enemy, the blue hair guy, can't even remember his name lol. I feel that beside the main couple, the girls in apothecary valley, the 4th 5th and 8th brother story, everything else is just toxic.

Whats the next tragic drama to air on the list? 😂
