the way it was shot, to me, it definitely looks like xiao heng died and him riding towards her was just her imagination.…
I didn't see the other group of soldiers, only men wearing the uniform of the enemy so i'll have to re-watch. based on the camera language of the last few shots, i have to disagree that he survived

i nderstand it would have been unrealistic for him to live, given his position as a general of sorts - but I still believe xff at least deserved a few years of happiness with him first. this ending felt like another punishment or "calamity" for her imho. since she can never reclaim her original identity, at the very least she deserved a few years of happiness with the person she loved
Guys! was it true that WXY was not first choice for male lead? i remember reading it somewhere but i cant find…
yes it's true. yuzheng (the director) was not convinced that WXY was ml material and Zhang Yunlong was alleged casted but rejected. I think he was not convinced WXY would make a good co with WJY either. One of the netizens threw back yuzheng's comment in his face on weibo and he admitted he was wrong lol
i may have misunderstood the ending as opposed to the comments i see here..
the way it was shot, to me, it definitely looks like xiao heng died and him riding towards her was just her imagination. unless re-inforcements came at the last minute, there was no way that he alone could survivev against all those men. no wonder yz ran to shoot the extra ep, because I could imagine the uproar it would have caused if it ended like that. Ep 40.5 seemed like an alternate reality where xiao heng lived on.
Idk, it feels bittersweet to me. After all that effort xff still couldn't have her happiness last for long. And even though her father and brother ended up living, she will forever be trapped in the identity of jiang li. This thought hurt me more than the deaths of the duke's duo, because at the very least I hoped that xff would have been able to get her proper happy ending :(
i'll miss this show and the cast so so much. wu jinyan has delivered another classic for me and it's her second drama thats in my top 10 fave cdramas of all time, wxy goes without saying, a star of the show and the first thing I've watched him in now he'll be on my watch-whatever-they-act-in actors list. liang yonqi is a name I'll remember and I'll be sure to check out future projects!!!
I don’t understand the scene with SYR, did he actually try to Rxxxx her? Why? Is he insane? What does he get…
The more I think about it, I think it symbolizes just how corrupt he's become and how the Princess has rubbed off on him after being with her for so long. He is rotten to the core and is in denial about it. He is also still attracted to XFF. In conclusion he has become so perverted corrupted that he didn't think twice about trying to assault her
