I was excited for this from last year but I couldn't get through the first ep when it aired because of the dubbing of the FL (the person who dubs literally every FL in this genre sigh). But since so many ppl are raving about it I guess i'll give it another shot
True,, even cfans are saying kisses like these look less fake than the traditional cdrama fish kiss. The clip on weibo is a few seconds longer (and steamier) and lots of comments are praising LYS
y'all that clip of them making out (in ep19?) going around weibo.....help me lord. (i doubt the official release would be that steamy but i hope i'm wrong lmaooo)
Agree~ In hindsight xufeng was the most pitiful of all to me. Jinmi aside, he clearly loved and respected his brother, even till the very end (that "ge" from one of last few eps still sticks with me). I see alot of the people who like runyu's character say he was just a spectator to his mom's abuse of ry but i think that's unfair - as a child of a monarch there wasn't much he could do to help RY, and even when he became an adult he had to deal with the conflict of guilt towards RY as opposed to his love for his mother. You can argue that he was weak, but if I put myself in his shoes, I would probably think there wasn't much I could do in that situation to help RY either - having to make a choice between your parent and your brother is not one I envy. RY also reached a point where his own demons blinded him to the fact the xufeng tried to be there for him in the only ways he knew how to. Like someone said, because he's the main character it's easy to disregard him as the bland "good guy". Xufeng was arguably just as complex as RY, and despite all his faults, his love for both RY and jinmi was pure. I think the fact luo yunxi got the bulk of the screentime over deng lun prompted more ppl to resonate with his character. I feel like they should've explored the brother relationship more than giving so much time for RY's character arc.
Despite it's flaws it's definitely one of the better cdramas of this year and one of my all time favourites. The actors did an amazing job, especially the ML. I loved it!
I must say mago tv dramas are so good at capturing this particular 'vibe'. I can't explain what that vibe is exactly but this drama is giving me the same warm feeling The Romance of Hua Rong gave me. The pacing and especially the chemistry is great and believable..i regret watching it while its airing cuz of the wait T___T
This drama definitely made me a chen kun fan, he's spectacular! Since I have the urge to go through his entire filmography can anyone tell me what I should watch first? What are his best movies?
why why why did it feel like the plot fell apart in the last 20 episodes. Although i was unconvinced with how the mc's fell in love at first I grew to adore them and appreciate their natural chemistry... However from ep 50 onwards it feels like a whole different drama and alot of the leads started making bizarre and irrational decisions. I also feel likealot of the 'conflicts' as well as the ending , was tragic just for the sake of being tragic. Mixed feelings since I grew attatched to the leads, especially chen kun who was exceptional, and my first work of his I've watched. But it also felt like a waste of my time because of the latter part of the plot sigh
