damn this comment section is so messy lmaooo. anyway since we're basically halfway I want to give some thoughts. -first, how did lian song become even more lovable here than he was in tmopb?his scenes with siming and his dynamic with DH makes me smile so much. In fact I really enjoy all the scenes with the lian song-siming-chengyu trio. I'm so so happy the original actors reprised their role and I like this chengyu even more than the old one since her and feng jiu seemingly being closer in age gives off a nicer dynamic imho. (i also don't mind her age gap with LS). It's always nice when supporting characters don't bore you to death.
-second the pacing; yes it is slow but I love slow build ups so this is right up my lane. I like seeing DH and FJ relationship slowly evolve through all their twists and turns. If thats not your thing and you're impatient I can understand why you would be bored.
-third; all these angry comments comparing it to tmobp absolutely make no sense. How many times do ppl have to repeat this is not a sequel and its own stand alone story lol.
-finally about the leads; my only complaint is I wish they were together more often(in human form pls) in the sky kingdom but that's just me being impatient. Really really enjoying it so far; the leads evolving relationship plus the supporting characters interactions have made it an enjoyable watch. I also agree with most that the mortal realm eps were boring (Qingti was the best part of them, my baby). Can't wait for the next eps!
p.s if you're commenting something from the book pls tag it as a spoiler for ppl who haven't read it like me :(, since they seem to be following the novel closely.
Why does he have to play a part as a BL combo to make it big.? I would love to see him in a really good drama,…
he doesn't have to play in a BL to make it big but BL is a trend now that attracts both international and domestic fans and I personally would like him to also get more international fans as well
I never re-watch anything no matter how much I love it but ...this drama..it's been 2 years and I'm still not over it. but thinking about how much I cried my eyeballs out when I first watch it I think re-watching it would be self-torture lol
he really left a deep impression on me in ever night...will keep an eye on all his future works. I think he will shine especially with more serious roles in the future when he's older
really really wish he picked (or got) more interesting scripts. he's one of my fav c actors ever just because of guardian but none of his other work seem interesting to me at all...his talent deserves better, more unique, scripts
I'm also shocked when I see comments here and other places about how much they loved his character....I don't get the appeal. He was fine in the beginning and became more manipulative and calculated. Yes he had a tragic story but tragedy is never an excuse to manipulate others. The way he manipulated jinmi and xu feng was disgusting to me - he manipulated jinmi for his own selfish desires (he KNEW she never loved him but still acted possessive) and he was cruel to xu feng although xf had no direct role in his tragic past...xf genuinely loved him even though xf's mother treated ry badly. even till the end after RY basically caused his death xu feng still showed that he loved and respected him as a big brother :( Runyu was just too unlikable for me by the end because of these reasons - yet he still was forgived by xf and jinmi
one of my fav cdramas ever but i still don't understand why runyu's character got so much screen time...to the point where deng lun's character felt like he was a second lead. I only watched it recently but I saw a comment that said that people on weibo were also complaining about him having more screen time than the ML while it was airing, is that true?
I like this drama more than other low budget current air drama like "To get Her". The story line is more interesting.
yeah me too..the budget for hua rong isn't that high either but the storyline with pirates is really unique..I think thats why it caught the attention of a big international audience. I hope they take note of the international interest and get more subbers :(

1) NO DUBBING YEEE
2)bai yu's character is gonna kill me omggg
3)the villain(?) looks very promising (..and hot)
