I agree. The way the destroyed the FL and ML characters are beyond me. My heart just felt for him more than her. And I understood her logic of believing the baby would protect itself. I was just saying they both made decisions that essentially weren't good for the child. And initially he wanted to just rescue her and leave but the way she went off him destroyed his heart so he did a complete 180.

You're right though. The writing went off the rails and then I thought about the title L.U.C.A The Beginning. I was wondering if this will have more episodes. Did they intend to tick us off but hook us at the same time because we need closure? Was this the back story to a villain? What was the point of this show with no closure and no clear direction? What was the point of it all.

As you can tell I am completely frustrated. LOL. I want a refund of my 12plus hours and days I invested in this show. This drama had so much potential and it took a suicide bomber nose dive for real. A dag gon shame.

Yeah I didn't agree with his decision to allow them to shock his daughter but if you remember his reasoning behind it, he was doing it for Gu Reum.

The baby was electrocuting her because she couldn't remember her. At this point, she broke that man so much and his heart was so messed up every decision he made was twisted. He was trying to fix it and protect her. He was in a place of complete helplessness and brokenness and while he was standing there he told the Dr. to stop and don't do it. He said wait until she's older because he's thinking she's like me, she'll survive and I want to help her mom because I love her. I believe he was going to stop him and wanted to but you can see the utter helplessness in his eyes because all he wanted to do was fix everything so that she would love him again. He is the picture of a completely irrational man after she betrayed him, destroyed him and abandoned him. He was grasping at straws. Worst decision he made was to agree with that but his motives were pure. He wanted that child to remember her mom.

But let's talk about how she dropped the baby from how many feet in the air without really knowing what would happen. She dropped her once out of shock and the baby created a barrier to protect herself but it wasn't guaranteed she would do it again just like he was thinking the baby would survive because he did - illogical thinking. My issue is she was being quite self righteous towards him. She believed the lie about him killing her parents but she knew deep down he didn't. She was wrong but wanted to stay strong in her wrong so she found another reason to stand on her wrongness - the incident with the baby in his broken helpless thinking.

He was thinking it wouldn't hurt the baby, just like she was thinking the baby wouldn't be hurt by the fall. She didn't care about causing their child a lifetime of pain by keeping her from her father. Pain is pain, torture is torture. He snapped because she broke him and she snapped because she was selfish, single focused on who killed her parents and she was self-righteous. She thought her love for their daughter was more pure and stronger. But wait, she put that child in more danger than him - he had a moment of dumb thinking - she had a few episodes of poor decisions. She straps the baby to her back to fight with a sharp object in her hands to fight? She leaves her baby with people who could have easily harmed her out of fear of her lightening episodes. She drops her from how many feet? She was self-centered, self-focused and completely self-righteous. I see no justification in her hurting him. I just don't because he came to save her so they could run away and she broke him first. She destroyed his hope so he completely flipped and lost that innocent smile. All he wanted was the be loved and accepted and the people who created him used that. He became a pawn because he wanted to fix it for her.

Sorry for the long post but this character wore me out. She wore me all the way out. Lol.

Agreed. Worse FL ever because after she learns the truth she further breaks him. I blame her for what he becomes in the end because she broke him first for real. She broke him knowing the truth deep down. She was looking for any excuse to turn on him and she did that. Found an excuse after learning the truth to continue on her path. And then the self-righteous lecture she gives him at the end of episode 12. I was like he went the path he did because you left first. I was so glad he said that. She broke him and all the innocent joy he had, all the love, all the hope for humanity left him and it ended with him looking every part the villain because the betrayal and loss he felt was deep. and i blame the FL. No one else impacted him or bothered him. It was her and believing his daughter was gone that sent him over the edge. She did that to him.

The baby is just like her dad Zi O. She ends up being adopted in the end because she is found in an abandoned building because her mother was being pursued with her so she drops the baby from who knows how many feet down a hole that just happens to be there. How she saw that in a dark building who knows. The baby instinctively protects itself. The mom dies in Zi O's arms and he carries her dead body out of the building completely forgetting about the baby. The baby is found the next day by a construction worker then the show fast forwards to what looks like about 9 months later. I'm assuming their child (a little girl) was adopted as they show a little girl taking a family photo and her eyes light up blue with the electricity. At the end Zi O has linked up with the crazy people - they've made 100 cloned babies and all of them open their eyes in the artificial wombs they are being incubated in, Zi O makes some crazy statements as the room lights up with blue beams from the babies and it goes off literally just like that. Dumbest thing ever. Just stupid. No real closure. At all. No good prevailing over evil. No certainty for his natural born child. Nothing at all. Just ignorance and wasted time. Uggh.. Sorry I am quite flustered.

If I could hug you for your brilliance with this comment. I was wondering what I was seeing happening before my eyes with her. I had so much hope but it all died for me. I didn't even mind the love story they interjected but I'm saying if you're going to do that make it a strong solid relationship. I mean Zi O was already up against it, on the run and completely detached. You let him grow and show his capacity for love, allow him to love, get married and have a baby only to break him. Was that the ultimate goal of this drama. If so they achieved their goal of showing what it looks like when you've been abandoned. There are so many things I want to say. I just have questions, regret and bitterness at this point. Like why? She like you said became an extra and her acting told the story of a character gone all the way left for no apparent reason. Strong in her wrong like all the rest.

I don't even know where to start. Don't waste your time. I'm so angry right now. I just wasted 12 hours of my life on this drama. Wasted anticipation waiting on every episode just for it to end like it ended. This is a complete and utter joke. Just why!!

Same. Episode 22 gave me some life but goodness this is a slow draggggggggg. Lol. But I still love it for some odd reason.

I just finished The Rebel Princess and I was sad when he died because he is just so good at what he does and he got the nerve to be fine on top of all of that. Just beautiful.

At this point I'm only completing this drama because I'm invested in Zi O.

The female lead is a complete joke. At this point after episode 11, I feel nothing but disdain, disgust and utter frustration with her. And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this, but there has been absolutely no growth in her character at all. All she's cared about from the start of this drama to the end is finding out who killed her parents and getting revenge. She's not cared about the truth. She's not cared about the part her father played in Zi O being tortured as a kid. He may have showed Zi O kindness but he turned him over to the people who tortured him and even still Zi O didn't kill him in the car with all those people. I don't us the B word, I don't like the B word because in my opinion it's the ultimate disrespect towards a woman but when it comes to this chick - that's the only word that comes to my mind. Even after learning the truth at the end of episode 11, she breaks Zi O heart and then uses another excuse to deny him the right to his child. First of all he lost it because you completely flipped on him and believed the worst about him in spite of him showing and giving you all his heart.

Zi O is the only character they truly developed. He went from callous and uncaring to revealing his true nature and capacity to love. We saw his ability to protect but this man grew into and embraced the notion of love and family when in earlier episodes it seemed like a abhorrent thought to him. He grew so much. And when he finally held his daughter for the first time, the tenderness and love he showed and the gentleness. He is the only human character in this show. I promise if it were not for my investment in him I would have dropped this a long time ago.

Why write a romantic moment into the story if you were going to do this? Why? Why even give this character hope after being abandoned rejected and disdained by everyone if you weren't going to allow that person to truly stand by him? Why do this to him in such a nasty way? I'm in the middle of episode 12 and I am utterly over Ga Ruem. There are so many pointless things about this drama. The ruined a unique, intriguing and exciting drama with a non-sensical romance (either don't do or it let them stand together against the wicked people). In destroying this relationship - they further attempt to isolate the character. I mean is this a villain backstory because if he becomes one I see why because they are doing everything in their power to destroy this man with the level of abandonment and betrayal they're putting him through. Never mind being made in a lab and being judged as an animal by those who created him. And he has to bear the shame of being made different. He didn't ask for this.
I said it before and I'll say it again. He is more human than any of these dag on characters.

Okay. I'm done. My passion for Zi O is real. If you haven't watched this and are considering it. Don't do it. DON'T DO IT!! Maybe it will end well. I don't know but at this point I don't think the FL deserves him. I just want him to get his daughter and leave. That will be a happy ending for me. Destroy those wicked people and leave with your baby. Get away from her momma too. Ugggh... #OverDone #DontWatch #LeaveThisOneAlone #TheyDestroyedThis

Everything you said here. I feel the same. To think I really loved General Song but he's been a betrayer since way back. At first I thought his affection for Awu was innocent because he was there fighting side by side with her, who wouldn't develop some affection for seeing her in action when she was taken for the second time. How she took care of the soldiers and the people, she looked every part of a true Empress and ruler. She was brave, witty, courageous, soft and beautiful while being a total Boss Lady. So I understood his feelings at first, I thought they were innocent. Who knew he'd been plotting and lusting after Awu since the wedding night and even kept her hair pin that he was instructed to give to Xiao Qi. What a crass person he is. His wife jumps to her death, you kill Hu Yao and then got the nerve to ask Awu to be your wife knowing you're a creep, her husband is still alive and just so many things to say about this character.

I even gave him a pass on his secret deeds because I felt he developed a certain mindset being of low status but I thought his heart was at least sincere. No he turned out to be complete scum. Like in the Scum wars between the men chasing Awu - he took the cake. I could endure Zitan's sniveling useless self over him and Prince Hulan won my respect at the end with sacrificing his life for Awu at least the last two delusional men were willing to sacrifice themselves - not this joker. He disappointed me in Joy of Life too. His character choices or maybe he's type caste I don't know but I cannot trust another one of his characters.. LOL. Just wow.

Thanks. TBH he is really the only reason I'm holding on to this drama other than the female lead and hopes of seeing Daddi Tang (I'm absolutely smitten with him. My goodness that man!!!!) I will certainly check out his other dramas. I had planned to do that after this but I need something to watch in between. Thanks.

From the time I saw her, I had no patience with her to be honest, lol. And I never felt sorry for her because she was scheming in the garden when she supposedly tripped and fell into him. And she was scheming when the 1st legal wife caught her in the in the place her husband was undressing. She cried it was a mistake but she went in there on purpose to try and trip the Marquis up and the legal wife cut her scheme off at the knees and she ended up a concubine. Her whole plot from the beginning was to marry into the Xu house but she wanted to be a legal wife. She was trying to set herself up to be his second legal wife since she knew the 1st legal wife was dying. There is nothing pitiable about her. And she just keeps getting worse and worse and it seems like in the episodes ahead she's going to succeed momentarily. I really hope not but goodness why ain't she gone.

Yeah. Harem dramas wear me out. I like this one because it seems the man doesn't really want a harem. He has the number of wives he has out of duty to repay those who helped them rebuild their family. The majority of them women are just there. That Concubine Qiao is about to make me break a remote control or something. I'm gonna hold on tho because I really like the male and female lead in this one. I never seen Wallace in anything so I'm intrigued with him at this point.

Thanks. I just watched finished episode 20 still seems kind of iffy. And I just watched a video/trailer where it looks like a lot of heart ache is ahead. I'm a little concerned about holding on. I always get burned bad by these historical C-dramas that I have come to love but they always end so tragically. Only the light hearted fluffly ones end nice. These on the other hand with all the drama and scheming women always seem to end horribly. I want them to have a happy ending. I love the leads but I feel so uncertain right now.

How many more episodes must I wait for their relationship to finally get somewhere? I am interested in this drama but I'm tired of the concubines and their relationship seems. I don't know. Help. Tell me what episode will it be???? When?????

Yeah there best be something good that happens for ZiO. That's all I'm saying. They need to fix it.

I LOOOOOOVE this drama and I have fallen in love with Daddi Tang. This won't be another post about him I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the other visual kings in this drama.. Leon Li and Liu Chang. My my my. This drama is not short on gorgeous men.

Oh thank you for this. I will definitely check this out. I tell you what I don't think I've smiled this much about a ML in a long time. Like my face lights up every time he shows up. I don't know if it's his soft voice, his profile, the beauty marks on his face or even his hands. I ain't never paid attention to a man's hands but his hands are so elegant and beautiful and the way he uses his hands are marvelous - nothing short of miraculous. Got me looking at him different. Oy. I can't stop gushing.

I have never washed my hands so thoroughly of a FL the way I washed my hands of this FL right here. Listen II have submerged my hands in a potent mixture of Clorox, Dawn dish detergent and Stain remover because I felt unclean, stained and ashamed after her treatment of ZiO in episode 10. Now let me be clear. I understand fear and I understand wanting to protect your child but to flip on ZiO like she did. After all he has done to show her his human nature and his love for her, she let these folk who she out of her own mouth admitted fabricated stories, I mean she's on the run for their fabrications and she so easily flipped on ZiO for the lie they fabricated about him killing her parents. Her momma wasn't even in that care and her daddy didn't die because ZiO knew how to control the current. He didn't even harm her father and she knows the truth.

I was so done with her after episode 10. It better have been an act but from what I see it wasn't and she has driven that man to the point of no return. She was dead wrong for that. After all the tenderness, the innocent smiles, his excitement on their wedding day, the cute and nurturing things he has done - REALLY. I officially cancel her. CANCELLED. I get angrier and angrier thinking about that episode.

My hands are washed. At this point I am remaining to the end of this drama for ZiO redemption and reunion with his baby so he can hold her for the first time. Dog on shame. We must protect ZiO at all cost. The irony of this show which is probably the point of the writer is the ones calling ZiO a monster are the real monsters and they are ones who are less than human and they are certifiable insane. ZiO better come out golden in this. BETTA or I'm gonna do something crazy.. LOL. Not really but that's how I feel. I feel wronged for him.
