Same writers, same director, same female lead actors as with The Light In Your Eyes, it's natural to be reminded of that drama while watching this one. Heavenly Ever After's premise is interesting but somewhat hard to relate to. Also, while there is logic in labeling this drama's genre as 'romance,' it doesn't actually deliver it in the expected way. It's more about pure love and then some. The actors were excellent in their roles. (Ms. Kim Hye Ja is really an amazing and admirable actress. She already looks beautiful in her present age; she must be much prettier in her younger years.) Anyway, I would recommend this drama to those who want to see something new.
7.5/10 • Story-wise, it doesn’t stand out much. While it ended up with something I am not so convinced of, it did highlight points for thought relevant to modern Filipino family experiences. What I liked best while watching this “reunion” movie is hearing the ever-familiar banter and bickering between one of my favorite love teams (pairings) of the 90s. As the credits rolled, it felt more like this movie is a tribute to both lead actors and at the same time a closure to “that couple that got away.” Sad but sweet.
The whole mother-in-law issue made me cry buckets, I don’t exactly know why. The mother-in-law seems kinda nice to me, although she’s cold outside. Hae-sook always just assumed she was criticizing her but her mother-in-law actually cares. I mean if she died young, she must already know how much Hae-sook went through taking care of her son, there’s no way it would go unnoticed. It would be sad if they don’t get along well eventually.
A thread of random thoughts while watching this drama:
Im Se Mi in My Dearest Nemesis made me think of Oh Eui Sik. Oh Eui Sik here made me think of Im Se Mi. Their overall chemistry in True Beauty was unforgettable.

Lee Ye Na’s father was never mentioned. Seems he’s one heck of a nice person for Ye Na to become such a loving daughter to Myeong Ju. One could think she’s Principal Park’s daughter. Haha.

Making Hae Seong fall down from time to time after his vehicular accident had a realistic touch that it kept me from complaining about how impossible it was to be able to run around after getting badly beaten.

Seo Kang Joon visuals is too extraordinary for my taste. Also, I’ve always liked Jin Ki Joo in every drama or hers that I’ve seen. In this one though, Su A’s character could have shined brighter if one of her two charms were given more emphasis: physical strength or admirable care for her students.
Love Scout has set so high a standard for rom com, office dramas that I find it difficult to watch the ongoing dramas with the said themes. Every similar scene just reminds me of Love Scout and how they did everything so well.
I rewatched this last February 14 and I just finished today. As I have during my first watch, I am not in agreement with some of the opinions expressed in this drama about marriage, but nonetheless, it made many points about adulting and relationships that are very relatable.
As with LJH and HJM in Love Scout, JJH and KHA are both a delight to watch in this drama. Their visuals, chemistry, and acting skills made STLV a memorable drama. While it is a 20-episode drama, some aspects (like multiple storylines for secondary and support characters and at times, the BGM) made it feel like a semi-makjang drama, so some cringe is unavoidable.
Overall, it's a nice watch, if you want to take a break from action or psychological thriller dramas, and if you want to feel some butterflies in your tummy from time to time.
