As for helping Erniang. They don't have the kind of relationship where Ernaing would accept help. You can see this in later episodes. When she does try to help her.
What's happening to Erniang is cruel, no one deserves an abusive husband. But she's in that marriage not because of Shiyi, but because of Lou's Main Wife and their father. They are the ones forcing these girls into an abusive marriage for their own gain.

I think the stabbing might be the technical reason, but I really think it because she was caught with the SML. And the ML found them together being close (only standing next together). Basically he lost his trust in her and she in him. It's sad.

As for the stabbing. It was an accident. What he's really mad about is the fact that Qu Yan Xing was there with her and appeared to be intimate with her. He's very jealous. And his concubines were gossiping about Shi Yi without context.
I think this was a good way for the main couple to sort through their misunderstanding and build more trust.
I have to say, episode 25 watching Seven Tan's expressions were so good. She said almost nothing but every look conveyed what she was thinking. Love her acting.
