We can still give you a chest scene and avoid stupid plots. He could have been stabbed on his trip by one of those people following him. He can still fake a fire and than come back and have him help bandage him.
Frankly they could just don’t it during the early bathing scenes and part of their nightly ritual.
concubine wen was explained in ep 37. concubine qiao became lingyi's concubine bc of that one incident. she was…
I think her temperament is complimentary to Houye but I found in that scene that she isn’t as learned as Houye would like. She didn’t have anything to say about art or poetry. He lost interested with her after that.
This Hu Po is the worse ingrate and she has a bad heart. She doesn't deserve to be happy.
I think Hu Po is smart girl who is very foolish. She let herself be too easily manipulated. But I didn’t wonder the whole time if the misery Qin described was actually her own. And that’s why she betrays the family.

I understand the whole court thing. But as a plot point it’s stupid. I’m glad Houye is reasonable and knows he caused himself to be hurt. And mad at her for the right things. His jealousy, and her distrust of him.
I would have preferred it if she got into trouble for meeting Young Ou.
The odds of the scissors actually stabbing him are pretty low. It’s more likely she would have dropped them. And more likely for him to injure his back.
My annoyance is at getting mad anyone for an accident especially as a plot device to:
A. Create a rift between the leads B. Make Madame mad again because the injury is so severe C. To get Shiyi thrown out of the house again. D. To give Wallace a reason to show us his chest.

I feel like it must be cultural. My parents (we're Vietnamese) used to get mad at me for tripping and falling, and I could never understand why they were mad about an accident. Now that I watch a lot of asian dramas, it seems like it's a common attitude.
But there are different types of accidents, and sometimes bad things happen unexpectedly and there really is not need to blame anyone.
Which is why I get annoyed when it shows up in plots.
I just want to rant about accidents being treated like crimes.
The stabbing was an accident but everyone is acting like she stabbed him. Arguably, he stabbed himself by trying to catch her. But I know they will never explain this.
It's just annoying trope in dramas, but it's pisses me off.
I am finally rewatching 28-35 with the subs now. Uggh!
Is Wei Shu Yu a scummy character? He seems like a coward so far. I like the actor Alen Fang but find myself hating his character.

Or when she needs to dress him in the morning.
Or add a training scene.
It’s really easy. No dumb plots required.
