Whenever I start a Chinese drama about high school to college and coming of age storylines… I always compare them to “A Little Thing Called First Love.” Unfortunately, I have yet found one that gives me those same magical feelings as “A Little Thing Called First Love” did.
And as for “Secrets in the Lattice…” I am not feeling anything, magical. This is most likely a drop or a really long undetermined pause, from me.

While we are on the subject, something came to me this week. There is an idiom, where I come from… “Reducing a fire by building a bigger one.” Among the big scandals that are currently going on, in the Chinese film industry… Who is most likely to benefit from a bigger and unrelated scandal? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I have only one word… EVERYTHING!
Cross Fire was one of the very few greatest modern dramas of 2020. From episode 1 to episode 36, there were no fillers and no boring moments. Each actor and actress played their roles to perfection. By far, BEST ACTING PERFORMANCES by both Lu Han and Leo Wu (Until… The Long Ballad, that is). Their synergy, their chemistry and their bromance resonated through the scene. The integration of life-actions in the CGI’s fighting sequence scenes were amazing... And very well directed. I was utterly impressed by the storyline and at the time, I was not even an avid fan of Esports concepts, as I am now.
Spoiler Alerts: - Very realistic ending; which made this new concept very successful. - The romance blossomed for both male leads. Lu Han impressed me with his “Rated R... abilities.” I am not going to lie; I am still shocked... And Leo Wu’s romance was sweet, charming and so adorable. Fyi: His love interest (Portrayed by Dai Lu Wa) was just as interesting as his character. Surprisingly, she was not annoying nor obnoxious as it is “The Norms” for most female leads in asian dramas... - Both male leads met in the past and in the present.
*The general consensus: “Cross Fire 2020” is a MUST watch. Right now, there is not an Esports drama concept out there that can yet surpass it.
Cross Fire’s bar is so high… Currently, that drama has no match and no contender. I had unreasonably high hopes for Falling Into Your Smile; however personally, I was completely disappointed by it. (So much so😔… That I still have yet gone back to finish Ancient Love Poetry with XuXu)
With The King's Avatar season 2 on the table; Cross Fire could possibly and finally get a contender… Although, I did not care whatsoever for the romantic side of the story in season 1; on the other hand, the Esports side was actually extremely well made. So I hope that they correct all of their glitches in season 2.

Maybe… However, I think that the popular and immediate reaction was excessively severe and downright over-exaggerated. Unfortunately, as a public figure who is constantly living inside a fishbowl… Also unfortunately, as an Asian actor who is an entertainer, living in a very rigid Chinese society… Zhang Zhehan just met with utterly bad luck.
One thing for sure… Purposely digging up some wedding pictures from 2018, in order to scrutinize the specific wedding location and the actor’s personal perspective on history… That is what I call PURE MALICE.

Ohhh😯! So, that’s what happened. For a second there, I got scared that one of my male leads got entangled in some crazy scandals, like so many lately. Oof😅
WOW! Never before in my history of watching asian dramas that I so wanted a drama to be remade, so bad🤨. Swing to the Sky had an interesting storyline and a rather good cast; more precisely with Kris Fan who is an undeniably charismatic and a well-versed/underrated actor. However, the primary problem with this drama was the content; It was underdeveloped and underutilized. The secondary problem was the poor writing. The tertiary problem was the obvious low-budget used for the entire production. For a drama that is about collegiate sport diving, training, team-building, mermaids and whatnot… Those interesting criteria were unfortunately non-existent and unimpressive, throughout the plot-lines. The writing and directing felt as if they were done by preschoolers. Therefore yes, I want a remake with at least (The same leading cast) but with the writers and the directors who made the followings… - My Mr. Mermaid - Mr. Swimmer - Dive - Make a Wish
