Salute you for being the only one defending right now cos when the drama first aired there were plenty if haters…
I kinda agree regarding the views =/= quality (for some). There are some shows with high ratings but not our cup of tea, whilst there are some that we love so much but underrated.
But then again, even the term “overrated” & “underrated” are subjective, IMO.
For instance, I dropped It’s Okay to Not be Okay as it wasn’t my cup of tea, but some of my friends like it so much and when they told me their reasons, I could understand why, but it’s still not up for my taste.
And a show isn’t simply good if you only watch it for the actor/actresses. I’m a loyal fan of Yoo Seung Ho, but I dropped “I Miss You”, tho most of his works are good.
Salute you for being the only one defending right now cos when the drama first aired there were plenty if haters…
Because taste is subjective. When we really like something, we tend to talk about it with emotions full with excitement to show how much we like it.
I think because you had high expectations before started watching, and maybe you had certain expectations in your mind, but when it didn’t reach/exceed those expectations, you dropped it.
And for you, the problem lies on Yu Tu & Jing Jing’s first encounter after 10 years of not seeing each other in person. For you, they weren’t even friends.
But from my POV, that encounter is something simple yet emotional. She used to have a crush on him, and he rejected her in a unique way of rejection. So, IMO, they do have a history even tho not as friends/acquaintances like you said. They somehow met again and became friends.
The “depth” in this drama, to me, is simple. Maybe it doesn’t match with your perception of depth.
It’s how naturally their interactions & relationship (especially after they became a couple) are shown on screen. When the camera focused on their hand gestures for example, affected me in some ways. Those body languages that speak without words. How they show their affection as a couple in LDR.
And I relate with Jing Jing having a crush on a guy like Yu Tu, how she supports his dream that’s a big as the galaxy.
I relate more with Yu Tu, struggling to choose the (right) career path that could affect his future. To choose what we love or what seems to be the best choice?
Sorry for the long replies. I got lost in words hahah
Salute you for being the only one defending right now cos when the drama first aired there were plenty if haters…
Thank you for this! I appreciate it. ❤️
I’m also enjoying, rewatching the drama & the BTS. But I also come to this page sometimes to read new comments/reviews.
It’s just sad for me to see there are some people who give bad reviews because the main leads are good looking, while the story isn’t only about that.
I’m happy to defend my fav show, as long as we don’t get into a big fight lol!
And one of the reasons I don’t think twice to defend my fav shows like YAMG is I wish people who haven’t watched it yet, when they come to this page, they would read my (and others’) comments before expecting anything.
For my fav shows, when I think they’re worth it, I’d use my limited English vocabs to attract other people to watch it. No matter if the show is hyped/underrated.
i found it pretty boring. leads are eye candy for sure, but that only works for so long. both lead characters…
I don’t know if I didn’t notice the details (because I’ve rewatched it more than once), but she didn’t act cute to get her way, IMO. That’s just in her character. Even tho her crush is around her, she still acted like how she would normally act.
i agree with you about childish or overly dramatic dramas. not a fan of those. i LOVE a slow burn romance. but…
I’ve started to think that maybe if Yang Yang & Dilreba (because they’re good looking) weren’t casted for YAMG, then would it be more realistic in your opinion?
Nooo not because of her beauty! It was because they met again after 10 years. If you were him, and you meet a…
Maybe you prefer dramas that have main leads with regular looking faces(?)
YAMG is about a handsome smart guy who is seems perfect outside, but has his own struggles, and a famous beautiful actress who has a crush on him but doesn’t act stupid just because he’s her crush, and she’s the sunshine in the story. Then they find a way to be each other’s glory. So yes, good looks are one the points in the plot itself.
Maybe the plot isn’t for you. Everyone has their own taste in dramas. And there are a lot of choices to choose. To each their own.
If you prefer dramas with dramatic scenes, 2nd leads ruining the main leads’ relationship, evil villains, characters yelling and getting mad at each other, main leads running away from each other when fighting, the FL falling into ML’s arms, then this drama is not for you as it caters to viewers who prefer much simpler, lighter & realistic plot.
Also if you get easily bored with slow plot, slow burn romance, without much actions, then this drama is not for you, as it IS supposed to be delivered like that.
Some dramas are slow in a bad way. But for YAMG, the slowness & the subtlety are what make its quality. Pay attention to their face expressions & body languages, even when there’s no dialogues between them. That’s what we fans of YAMG enjoyed about the drama.
I’m not really good with English vocabs, so I can’t say much. But I hope you can understand what I’m trying to tell.
It’s because I love YAMG so much it’s worth my time defending it from insults. Not because of Yang Yang or Dilreba, but because of the story itself.
Curious, are you watching from the beginning or just your favorite episodes? I started rewatching from the beginning…
I’m the same with you! I’m rewatching all episodes, because I want to get into the feels & notice more details that I hadn’t noticed before.
I agree with you on the body language part. The face expressions (even without dialogues, they show 1001 meanings behind), the hand brushing (oh the tension gets me every time!), the fidgeting (it shows nervousness), the glances & stares, the hugs (I love it when Yu Tu is hugging Jing Jing so dearly, with his hands caressing her head), the kisses (you could see that’s how couples in LDR should be, them making up the time they were not together, their kisses seem real).
I could go on and on but unfortunately I’m out of words! 😆
Plus, if you noticed, most of our comments here are about the story, not the cast. That’s why we’re rewatching…
I appreciate that you take my comments into consideration. I hope you’ll enjoy this drama as much as I did, and hopefully you’ll also have a hard time to move on from it. Joke! 😂
Hi, I’m replying to this as the drama fan, not as the actor/actress’ fan. I started watching this drama without…
I agree with you when you said you find nothing good, because I’m in a similar situation. Nowadays I keep jumping from Kdrama to Thai drama, to Jdrama, to Cdrama.
Before this, I was more into Kdrama. But lately it’s hard to find a good one. Or maybe I’m tired of drama because of this pandemic(?)
I’m not sure, but I think the pandemic is one of the reasons I’m in drama slump.
I’m also currently watching “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”, a light & calming drama. While waiting for new episodes, I’m rewatching YAMG. If you’d like to watch something simple that doesn’t need to mess with your brain, give Hometown Cha Cha Cha a try too. ☺️
Hello, so I am asking to non fans of the actors, how is this drama? Because I can't trust fans rating and on this…
Plus, if you noticed, most of our comments here are about the story, not the cast. That’s why we’re rewatching the drama, even more than once.
I’m telling you to please give this drama a try, as it’s worth every second of your time, especially if you’re into a mature story about life, career & relationships that you can relate to the reality.
But if you’re more into an idol kind of drama with young cast and stories about teenagers, or stories that have dramatic scenes, second leads & evil villains, then this drama is not for you. 😊
Hello, so I am asking to non fans of the actors, how is this drama? Because I can't trust fans rating and on this…
Hi, I’m replying to this as the drama fan, not as the actor/actress’ fan. I started watching this drama without any expectations, not knowing how famous this drama was in China & internationally. I didn’t know anything about the plot & the popularity. I just gave it a go after reading the synopsis.
I was also not a big fan of Yang Yang & Dilreba, although I know some of their previous works were very famous, especially Yang Yang (because my little sis is a huge fan of his since Love O2O).
And I tend to drop most Cdramas because I get bored & cringe easily with the plot & the romance. But after watching a few episodes of this one, I got hooked. I never knew I could be so invested in a Cdrama, even more than with “A Love So Beautiful” (that’s another of my favourite Cdrama).
With this drama I NEVER skipped any scenes. Even the scenes of the ML & the aerospace engineering stuff even tho I didn’t understand most parts. It makes me understand why the ML loves aerospace so much.
The story is very realistic. Someone said YAMG is “a drama that’s far from drama, but close to reality”. So if you want a mature story that you can relate to, with slow burn but in the end satisfying romance, go for it.
Only after I started becoming too invested in this drama that I became a fan of Yang Yang & Dilreba. They are really talented not just for their looks, but also their talents.
PS: You mentioned “It’s Okay to Not be Okay”. I dropped that Kdrama, fyi. Not my cup of tea, even tho I like Kim Soohyun. I solely finish a drama for the storyline, not for the actors/actresses, tho I can’t deny that for some actors/resses, most of their works are great, as they’re lucky to get good scripts.
“it just wasn’t a big deal to him” 💯
But then again, even the term “overrated” & “underrated” are subjective, IMO.
For instance, I dropped It’s Okay to Not be Okay as it wasn’t my cup of tea, but some of my friends like it so much and when they told me their reasons, I could understand why, but it’s still not up for my taste.

I feel like he’s the second director of this drama 🤣
I’m also enjoying, rewatching the drama & the BTS. But I also come to this page sometimes to read new comments/reviews.

So maybe you prefer face-paced dramas rather than slow ones but filled with much depth like YAMG. ☺️
YAMG is about a handsome smart guy who is seems perfect outside, but has his own struggles, and a famous beautiful actress who has a crush on him but doesn’t act stupid just because he’s her crush, and she’s the sunshine in the story. It was because they met again after 10 years.
If you were him, and you meet a friend whom you haven’t seen for such a long time, would you be mad at him/her and then leave?
If so, that’d be such a dramatic scene. Wouldn’t it?
What happened in the drama is natural & realistic enough, in my opinion. 😅
They successfully broke the norms in Cdrama lmao
I agree with you on the body language part.
