I love MaxNat, I've watched everything with them but I'm tired they got mediocre screenwriters and mediocre stories. I couldn't watch more than 15min of this mess. Why Domundi keep giving Cheewin works ? He's bad and doesn't improve.

I love the frenemies trope but come on, they're acting too childish for my taste and it's obvious they like each other. I'll pass.

I don't know, he had a choice. I understand that for the sake of drama, Jane had to sacrifice for his brother, but he could have brought his brother to Jane Patrick. I mean, why should he be the one signing this contract ? Jet is a gambling addict, he needs therapy and mostly he needs to take responsability for his actions. Little Jane helped "erase" the debt but will that help Jet in the long run ? He'll go back to his life like nothing happened until he fucks up

Great comment. Too many people are watching the series on a surface level and are hating on it. It's not the best series out there and it's quite infuriating on many levels but it's very interesting to watch.

I think we all can say Bei is quite problematic. However, to me Bei isn't a red flag and he's def not using XiaoFan.
- From episode 1, it is XiaoFan that devotes himself to Bei. Bei never asks him anything. XF came and literally stole the housekeeper's job by making food and serving Bei, bringing him soup everyday, everywhere. There's even a scene where Bei starts to serve himself some soup but XF snatches the spoon and serve Bei a bowl. Sure Bei never thanks him and I agree that's not very nice but it's not exploitation.

- Bei expresses is love and care through gifts (buys XF clothes, a cd player, a phone...) but he also gives his time : he tutores XF, brings him into his social circle so that he can learn finance and get out of his shell. He knows XF doesn't want to be a burden so he gives him things in a roundabout way. I don't see how it's a bad thing. If XF can show his love and gratitude by making Bei soup everyday, why can Bei shows affection by offering gifts ? They both have different love language.

-I believe the ex-bf situation was a test to see if XF can stand up for himself. Because once people know they’re together, they’re gonna face Bei’s mother and society criticism. He needs to speak up. He failed the test because he didn’t fight for Bei. As for the cigarette thing, I believe it was to imply they have a pain kink (later on XF bit Bei’s finger). I might be wrong. I’d like novel readers to enlighten me.

-Regarding the sex, minus the first time they did it (that was indeed problematic but well, it’s chinese novels for you) they’re both attracted to each other. Bei made a move on XF and they started a secret relationship. XF was a willing participant.
The thing is their relationship is dom/sub. Since Bei and XF are repressed characters you have to read between the lines. XF needs Bei to lead him, to claim him. And Bei guides XF, dotes on him though he doesn’t express him feelings. They both don’t say what they want.
I understand this love dynamics isn’t everyone cup of tea and that it might taint viewers understanding of the storyline.
Bei is quite problematic but I don’t see any exploitation from his part. XF parents are the one exploiting their son.

How does Bei exploit XiaoFan ?

Concerning Fang Chi & Gao Zhun: they're real. Fang Chi's friend wrote their story. The book is then adapted into a movie, Deep In The Act. Zhen Xin & Zhang Zhun are the actors.
At the end of the webnovel, the author last sentences are confusing : you think everything you've read is a story and ZX and ZZ are just fictional characters. However, when the author published the physical book, they added extra chapters in which ZX & ZZ meet FC & GZ. Meaning both couples are real. Unfortunately these extra chapters were not upload on websites so few people have read them. That's why many people still think the actors are not real people.

Don't worry. It's a happy ending. They'll get back together one year later.
I'm telling all that but the series doesn't follow the novel 100% so they might make changes again.

Remember that they had sex when ZZ was drunk and he doesn't remember it (he thinks it was a dream) ? Well, he'll remember it and will be pissed at ZX for not telling him. Also, there's pressure from fans and their managers to have ZZ take the fall for the scandal. So this plus ZX lying to him will be too much. They'll quarrel and break up.

Totally agree. I like the series but I'm not really into the romance.
