Oh, I love the enemies-to-lovers trope (got to be one of my favorites! And the variations seem inexhaustible!),…
Same! I particularly don't mind the genre, in fact it's one of those genres that gives best romance dramas but problem is it's hard to manage it. I don't mind slow development, but if it's dragged too much, repetitive hate and torture can make it very dragging and boring. And you gave the right drama reference, I also watched it. I was close to ending when I gave up, because the constant repetition of same plot was dragging and I couldn't watch it anymore. The actors were good, but I think if they had reduced episodes a bit and ended it on a good note, that would have been better in my opinion. If this drama can give me happy ending, and not make it too hateful or so, it can become one of my favourite historical dramas.
Guys how is it truly? rating is almost 9 is it that GOOD?
I would say good. The drama is not typical historical drama, it's a well blend of strong fl, follow the enemies to lovers plot but we'll executed. There are romance scenes including comedy parts, which makes the drama even more enjoyable. The fl is not just elegant but intelligent and knows when to confront or surrender. Watched upto ep 8 and so far it's good, didn't realised when episodes ended. The story flowing so well.
Watched upto ep 8 and it's been an incredible journey. I'm not a fan of hate to love stories much as I can't see FL's being suffered in the hands of ML and then have a romance plot. But here, the feelings of hate has a legit reason, it was a betrayal and very complex situation. Moreover, the Fl is not a weakling either, which makes the drama even more interesting. The timely inserted comedy/chemistry scenes makes it easier for people like me who don't like too intense dramas. It acts as a buffer from the serious, political matters and compliments well with the storyline.
I'm worried about the ending, I just hope it's just the happy ending, not the open or sad ending, because my heart can't take sad endings anymore. I don't want to be invested in a drama sm only to get a sad ending. š„¹š Ps. I still find the scene where she ran ahead and he ran following her, when he was supposed to follow her while walking, best scene of the series which explains their relationship the best. No matter how powerful he is, she will always be ahead of him and in his control.
This scene, it didn't felt planned, but adlib. š That was my favourite scene!
I loved your comment! Perfect! Did you know that Liu Yu Ning is primarily a singer and only later became an actor?…
I didn't know that he is a singer turned actor. It's really remarkable. He caught my eye from his other drama because of his unique indifferent cold face which makes him perfect for such cold blooded roles and handsome face is a plus of course for romance. His acting was just phenomenal and yes, in this show both actors are surpassing their previous works. The girl is already pretty well settled in her career but tbh this is her remarkable performance so far. Like the best? The story, acting, the pacing and the chemistry is just amazing. Same with the ML, both are coming together so well. It's very rare for ML to be cold blooded but not making it toxic? Such roles can easily get twisted and becomes very cliches and boring but they're pacing enemies to lovers trope so well and it's not rushing or unrealistic. It's been paced so well. Before starting I was in dilemma of youthful glory and this and I'm glad I picked this one first. Because it's really upto my taste. It's like mix of love like the galaxy and blossom in adversity? It somehow gives me that vibe.
I'm so glad I found about this drama when it's nearing end and halfway through the series. Otherwise, if I had started it sooner, it would have been a torture. Recently I finished watched resident playbook, when life gives you tangerines and devil's plan 2. I felt empty and didn't know what to watch. At that time, I found this gem. I wasn't sure if I'm ready for a historical Chinese drama, which might be more intense. But seeing their chemistry videos, I give it a shot and I'm shook. This drama is soo good already. Watched 4 episodes today, and I'm planning to binge watching tomorrow.
I have watched fl in mostly contemporary, comedy romance dramas, and wasn't sure if she could act like a lady and fit well for historical drama. I know the ml from long ballad as a second lead.
But the chemistry here of actors is top-notch, the switch between being the ruthless leader to being slapped by his wife in front of everyone was hilarious and cute.
It was like he can kill anyone but he can't raise his voice in front of her kind of scene? We already have our guy as a hen pecked! I'm loving this drama and will recommend everyone who loved love like the galaxy. It was my one of the best historical dramas and tbh this drama also somehow reminds me of the same. The ml has a tragic past, the fl is empathetic, cheerful but intelligent. Her character is more elegant, virtuous but cunning and intelligent than the other drama and it plays as a beautiful contrast yet well suited with the Ml's personality.
I started watching this show while watching resident playbook and just realised that geom myung's brother is um jaeil guy. I feel I'm seeing this guy quite frequently this year, in back to back shows. He is also appearing in a new series with Jong suk. He is literally working with iu and Jong suk in the same year. š š I feel this guy might win new actor soon.
About 10, it's not only about so hee, it's about do many people against 1. If hyunjoon hadn't betrayed him, things…
It's not like only hyungyu doesn't like them, but his opinion never sit well with 7high since the start. When kyuhyun and tino seperately made alliance with him, promising all his team members to living room, while hyungyu didn't know about it at all and he was playing on his own and when he rejected this idea, saying he wanted to give his piece to someone from his team, 7high showed a huge reaction. Even in the next game, there wasn't any strong alliance and hyungyu was mostly playing in defense, not that much openly while 7high, Eunyu, others were making alliances here and there. 7high and his opinions never in line, and that's how a division was made. People on Hyungyu's side and others. Those who did not liked him, naturally went the other side and vise versa. That's how they even get rid of sang hyun (not sure if spelled right). The alliances started to get stronger after that, where the games became more strategic and he was the one planning out the strategy and since he didn't want to pair up with him, the alliances were naturally divided. It was not only hyungyu but others didn't liked him either. If he had went to prison earlier, the others would have ganged up on him to kick him out, like they did in balance game. Fortunately he had rewards that's how he was saved at that moment. It was not only about pieces honestly, even hyunjoon had so many pieces and got the reward. It was all about how you utilise them and strategise yourself. In the last, so hui had more pieces than him, and he went to prison. If he had failed there, all of his efforts had gone to vain as well. It was a mind game, and the most advantage of his was not alliance, because the alliances were unstable here and there too, but his nonchalant attitude, indifferent and ability to stay calm under the worst situation and luck too. Poker game was in his favor due to seats and their strategies were well matched, if you notice even there it was hyungyu mostly leading the things. He got a high intelligence in judging personalities, attitude and decisions. He almost lost finale game, but his last guess won him. He could have lost that round and so hui would have answered but he gave the right answer, despite having 50-50 situation. So I feel it's wrong to kinda undermine his abilities and made it as if he won because of others. Because honestly, I supported him but if anyone had won, they deserves it, be it eun yu, hyunjoon or so hui, I would have appreciated the same. They all worked well in their own way. In a game where nerves are so high, it's not easy to make right judgements but they still did their best.
About 10, it's not only about so hee, it's about do many people against 1. If hyunjoon hadn't betrayed him, things…
Everyone needs alliance. He played well in main games, that's how he also survived all this long. I know eun yu did well and always praise her for her play in games. But I feel you're kind of making it as if it was only hyungyu depending on alliances and not others. Even prison people had strong alliance, they were more dependent on alliances instead. But hyungyu was always leading in creating strategies when playing. Even eun yu herself was so good at creating alliances that she survived so many rounds, it's also a kind of ability.
About 10, it's not only about so hee, it's about do many people against 1. If hyunjoon hadn't betrayed him, things…
Yes. Not saying it was wrong because it's a game and anything is possible and they were all trying to play and survive as well. Hyungyu did many things which worked in his advantage. Due to 7high's twist, hyungyu did go to prison and survived on his own, I think that also worked well in his favor, otherwise many people would have said that he was depending on others, because many people did say that about him. He even survived the last death match, and played so well, the finale well. But yes, death matches were more intense this time than main matches.
I feel Season 1 was great because it was a new concept, such great contestants, so much new things to explore, no one knew what's coming and the emotional drainage was crazy. I still remember how crazily seok jin cried when that girl (forgot name) was eliminated from prison for playing the game wrong. This season, I feel it was more of an upgraded version and more dangerous to go to prison. The death match was literally so scary. The alliances weren't as strong this time but there was so much backstabbing going on. šš Which made drama interesting. Everyone was playing hard, and I feel this season wasn't a let down either. Tbh, I loved it. More than 1 maybe, because hyungyu showed a practical side of gaming, he didn't go overboard with his emotions, didn't play dirty, was always upfront about his play and his strategies, he knew what he wants to do and how. It was a crazy game and I will miss it. But the best thing is, HYUNGYU won. ššš¤ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Fr I like their frndship the most. People are all saying they won because of their alliance but bro everyone had…
Yes! The game can be pretty toxic and exhausting. I hated hyunjoon in the game tbh, at points when he keep betraying people but after a game, he is a very emotional, cute guy. Their Chemistry as a team was so good, despite the game, I love all the contestants and it's so fun to watch their interviews. Ps. I loved how so hee and hyungyu played finale and hyungyu WON!! šā¤ļøš¤
thats the craziest take ive seen in a while... 7high was the only one trying to keep it intresting for the viewers…
It depends how you watch it. As a viewer and dramatic show or just overall game show which has so many things involved, from game to emotions, to betrayal to strong personalities. 7high was never wrong when betraying or playing game, but then being hypocrital about it when others do the same is not right. That was the problem, he was more of an emotional person. He easily get swayed by things and say whatever he wants to, sometimes it wasn't even right.
God those prison team are such a hippocrates they can encourage hyun joon to betray hyungu but if so hui nd kyung…
That's true. Like, at least be cool when kyuhyun and so hee changing their minds. But no! They be like you're betraying me, suddenly again hyungyu became the bad guy. But they were just playing game when they were targeting him, again all and 1. That too in a hidden way, not even straightforwardly. Then target kyuhyun and blame hyungyu for playing game.
Prison team killed kyunghung nd then 7 High is saying because of hyung yu he died lol š
Literally! It was the peak of hypocrisy. When they killed him, everyone be like okay, it's a game. Things happen, doesn't matter. But then when it was revealed hyungyu hide the reward, they suddenly got angry and be like he eliminated him this and that. Suddenly it's not a game and what he did was wrong? š¼š¶
I needed to pause n comment here fuxxxxk off Hyungyu š¤¬š someone please wipeoff the smugness on his face…
You're making as if it was hyungyu who eliminated him. It was a game, if kyuhyun and so hee had played with him since start, they would have won anyway. Since they changed places and felt bad betraying him, especially when hyunjoon changed his sides, they felt bad. Imagine hyungyu suddenly going against so hee or kyuhyun, leaving them with no one, literally alone, would you say the same thing? It was his ability that he had the reward and it was his choose to reveal or not. It was his safe game card, he also wanted to save them. But who would have thought when kyuhyun tried to still compromise with the other team in that round, the next round they would suddenly target him. In the whole game, hyungyu has always play fair and tried to support the people he was playing with, the betrayals mostly came from the other sides not hyungyu.
The prison games and players are the fairest and best thing about the series. Especially in the last few games…
About 10, it's not only about so hee, it's about do many people against 1. If hyunjoon hadn't betrayed him, things would have turned that way anyway. Even so hee had gained alot in games playing with him and yes their chemistry from game 1 has been amazing. They're literally similar yet different and it mostly comes to personality. While so hee is a careful person, he is bold and risk taker. In games, both of them kind of push each other to balance their energies, so hee pulls him back, while he pushes her ahead. So saying only he depends on her kinda trims down his abilities. I feel both of them are great players and did well, and if you have seen the same, we have the winner and I am so glad that two best players played against each other. Whoever won is the game of luck and abilities, but both deserved to win tbh.
Just finished watching finale! Woah! It was wild. First, the way Hyungyu went to prison and still won was so cool. He literally passed all obstacles lol. Even so hui didn't go to prison but he did. šš The way he and so hui played during betting game, when 7high and eun you left was so good. Literally, it was 2-3 game, but they still proved that not always more is good. And the finale? So hui, my girl, despite being sick she did so well. She was literally rolling this episode, she was always good in games but until now we have seen them together. Today seen them against each other was like an eye opening. They were literally wearing matching clothes, devil and angel, black and white. Hyungyu was also panicking this episode, but with his sharp mindedness, he won the finale. So hui took a risk to take a step back, and hyungyu also took the risk, despite having 50-50 answer. It was a nerve wrecking moment and I just loved to see him winning. I was supporting him since the start, at first it was just to clear some rounds so that I could see him more. But honestly he proved his abilities more than I had expected. If I loved in transit love 2 for hyungyu being a green flag, here I loved him for being the Devil! Like his sharpness, practicality, his poker face, indifference yet loyalty to his people, everything made me love him even more. And my other fav people were so hui, kyuhyun, tino. Out of prison people, I like Eunyu the most. This girl was super talented. She literally spent a whole week in prison, was already in so much pressure yet she gave 100% to all the games.
Watching Ep 10 and it's so saddening to see kyuhyun leave. I didn't liked the way he and so hui changed sides previously but they have always been nicer to hyungyu and not backstabbing. I loved when they supported hyungyu, seeing the way they were side lining him and ganging up on him. For the first time I cried to see someone's elimination. But I have to say, in this game, I dislike 7high and jinyeong the most. These people talk about loyalty, affection, friendship the most, then gang up on someone and when it doesn't work, they start blaming the other person. When kyuhyun left, they were like it was all game, someone has to go, it's alright kind of dialogues and suddenly when it was revealed hyungyu has pieces, 7high be like it's all because of you! Like seriously, it's okay for you to corner someone, betray but if other person does it's shameless, and lack of integrity? Also, he didn't even do anything, he was simply protecting himself from start. When kyuhyun and so hui changed sides they even directly told everyone and not attacking silently. But what did hyunjoon did? He was playing with hyungyu but in reality he was playing to backstab him? These people doesn't care about real loyalty and integrity and talks highly about morals. But the best part is, kyuhyun won the hearts with his elimination. Literally! Not even once this guy blamed anyone, he was talking so nicely, and left becoming Hero for real. At least they played fairly and not by being petty. So hui and kyuhyun are the real support of Hyungyu in this game and I love to see Hyungyu wining this now.
I can't believe it ended! I even forgot that this week was it's last episode. I started this show little late, not expecting anything since cast changed. But damn, I loved it sm. The first one has chemistry between friends already settled, here we have seen them growing since day 1. And the cameos were cherry on the top, no drama has this much cameos and I was all for those special appearances. I heard that it won't get second season. That's sad honestly. This series was so good, I wanted to see my four babies, happily in relationship, working, dealing with new upgraded position and struggles. And, oh yi young's sister and brother in law still don't know about their relationship. š I wanted to see that, they were a duo of dumb and dumber. Literally. I will miss this drama sm.
I'm worried about the ending, I just hope it's just the happy ending, not the open or sad ending, because my heart can't take sad endings anymore.
