it'll be fine i guess. the novel fans are mostly satisfied with zhou ye playing as he yan. novel fans in china are usually fierce on the actors playing the characters on their fave novel esp if it's not in line with their aesthetic or vision but zhou ye is atleast being accepted and praised by them esp when her crossdressing promotional videos and reuters were released.

my fave is when the budget for her courtyard was reduced and she's fine with the other things being of low quality but went mad for the bad walnuts!

i think it's everything you said haha i have read some of her interviews and you can just tell that she's insightful and acting is her passion not business, her company is indeed supportive and she def grew up in a loving home. financially, i believe her family's on the well off side (comfortable but not rich rich i guess) given that she studied in prestigious school when young then the beijing film academy – her older sis also studied abroad afaik.

i just recently followed her and also read comments like this. work-life balance 🍃 besides, she seems to be seriously considering the roles she play. she's meticulous when it comes to the endorsements she accepts, too. she's so chill.

i'd say that most actresses will dare not play as tang susu, this character design is just a complete break of an image, a play within a play. glad to find an actress that doesn't restrict herself to certain roles especially when it's the common route for actresses to play roles where they will look beautiful.

this is not that romance drama you're expecting based on your questions, it works around romantic tension between the leads but the focus of the storyline is not really on romance

same, i remember just watching this during my work break hours and atleast let me experienced slow living at those times.

you're probably not just into this, some really like this and some really don't haha it's a so-so for me. tho i love both leads and happy for it's success in china, it's something i'll just watch as a past time as it actually reminds of those novels i read back in 2010-ish in wattpad 🤣

she's actually one of the decent actresses i find in their generation and was pretty much following her works now, i can see she's much like a start-up and she don't have that big of a fandom yet so unlikely to be an overhype actress

it's sad that you didn't get into scent of time tho, that's the first and my fave drama of hers but then i do like these type of pieces where you need to be thorough and not get by superficially. i really love the symbolisms in that series and it's legit the only drama i rated and gave a full mark since my start in chinese dramas in 2016 lol
