** i find it unreasonable when people give low ratings just because a drama is not romance centered than they expected or if there's just less skinship between the lead couple, like there's more to life than romantic love?

*** it's even crazier when you see complaints on a drama being slow pacing when there's literally a tag of 'slow burn' on it, what're the tags for if you're not gonna consider it? at least comprehend the concept of the drama before rating?

agreed tho that her fanbase has been growing steadily, not sure if it's because she has several dramas and movies released last year

s tier refers to high budget productions and not the actresses/actors, just wanted to point out cause it's a bit confusing since you mentioned actress names

it would be great if you can enlighten how her presence here is unnoticeable, i wanted to prioritise her movies where she is the main role but there's such high regards on her role here that i was considering this to watch first after i'm done with her dramas lol

but wasn't she known in china for her role here as wei lai and that stairs scene? she was even nominated on best supporting actress category for this role several times including the prestigious golden rooster award

also read somewhere that she did so well here that lots of entertainment agencies wanted to sign her but she eventually chose he song under li bingbing

i just started liking her so i'm kinda doing my research on her and her role on better days is always mentioned as what sets her start in the movie industry, reason why she's considered more of a movie actress than a drama one

my fave is when the lord's attendant realised that the pouch she's always been carrying around contains that medicine bottle. it's a significance of her love, that it is not unrequited all this time – that at some point, she had also fallen for him but had to conceal it.

i also cried with the attendant at that scene lol

idk how to put it into words but the romance is subtle yet emphasize, it's beautifully shown in a somewhat poetic way. atleast that's how it is for me. romance is just a part tho, the storyline delves more about life.

agreed. being offered with costume drama roles also means that directors and producers sees her potential value in high regards. i also love how balanced her work career is as she also keeps taking film projects simultaneously with dramas. film actors are deemed 'well-respected' and has serious acting abilities than drama actors by the general public in china and if her studio keeps this on, her steady rise and career longevity is undoubted. rooting for her.

probably one of the dramas with the best execution for this type of plot. i believe it was perfect but could go beyond if only regression isn't banned in china. my first historical chinese drama with no skip/fast forward scenes, i really stayed for that plot.

y'all should watch their promo interviews, zhou ye and lin yi are so chaotic lol i hope these visual besties get another romcom drama together

zhou ye and lin yi mentioned a bed scene in the interview, you can only see a glimpse of it on a bts and it was not aired. some kissing scenes were cut as well unfortunately. idk if the reason is due to censorship.
