I seriously want to punch myself in the gut for wasting time on this, but I kinda don't regret it haha. It was entertaining in its own unique way, I skipped through most of it, I love that dramatic prince/emperor whatever he is supposed to be who keeps following her, he's so deliciously dramatic haha. I don't need to say how terribly cut and edited it was, I barely understood anything in the first 10 episodes, I have to thank some of you guys who clarified in the comments as to the premise of this show. I kinda felt like nothing happened despite the fact something was obviously happening, yet I couldn't tell what exactly was the main conflict that should have driven the story forward. The female lead was as equally insufferable as any other female lead in these kinds of dramas, I mean how can you always choose some random guy over the perfection that is bai yue? Can't relate honestly. As for Li Hongyi, sometimes I swear I couldn't see his lips move whenever he talked, I guess it's all a part of the character's flair. I loved him regardless. All in all, not very memorable, but entertaining in its own way.

Well I laughed throughout the entire first episode (I mean the dialogues were Wattpad at its finest), but you bet I'll be coming back to this because it really is the kind of a guilty pleasure type of a drama that both makes you cringe and entertains you and I love those.

This one got me good, first episode in and I was crying, laughing and laughing and crying at the same time haha. As someone who has experienced Gi Bbeum's problems due to extreme social anxiety, I relate to her very much, sometimes it felt like watching myself honestly. I hope other episodes don't disappoint, because so far it's a gem for me.

I watched 10 episodes so far and godman, they were super boring and I also find main couple irritating. Especially…
Big Mouth is definitely on my watch list, I love crime and thriller dramas. I agree about the Chinese dramas plot thing, they kind of do have the same plot often, however this one grew on me I don't know why haha 😂😂😂

No, haven't really started any of the airing dramas yes. I thought of starting Big Mouth yesterday, but I talked myself out of it because I hate waiting for eps. I mean Love between fairy and devil is killing me right now, I can't wait for new eps. 😂😂😂😂

Yup, same. It feels like nothing engaging happens whatsoever no matter how far in you are.

Honestly this whole drama seemed like it had no actual plot to me, it was so random, like nothing of importance happened. I've tried to finish it for the 3rd time already, and I cannot, for the life of me, do so no matter what. I seriously find Yuna, her bf and her manager more interesting than the main leads and anyone else in the show. I just don't care about the characters at all. And what was that subplot about the middle aged, rich lady who was Gong's sasaeng? I know such people exist, but for some reason I could not take it seriously and the whole show went downhill for me after that episode. Not to mention their portrayal of Africa...
Also, side note: I love love looooove Kim Young Dae's voice so much, I melt when I listen to him talk, it's so mellow and pleasing to the ears. 😍

I like this, the story is really promising and interesting and I like the female detective which usually, in these kinds of stories I don't, because the female detective character is very often irritable and annoyingly righteous and headstrong even if it could potentially endanger her life (like why do they still make characters like that? Just because she's intelligent and strong she should be unlikable as well because I don't know reasons? Same goes with male characters too, but that's a whole other discussion btw). In here she's actually calm and cleverly looking though the possibilities and the whole situation and yet remains strong and intelligent without having to forcibly make herself bigger and better than everyone in the room. All in all I like the drama, some things could have been different, some things don't make sense, of course I haven't read the source material so I guess people who have can point out all the faults with the whole plot better than me.

I'm just curious, Hua City is not a real existing place right? Is it based on some real place or places? So far I love this drama, it is well paced and the acting is great. I hope the other episodes don't disappoint too.

I wouldn't say that this drama made me angry at how nonsensical it could be at times, in fact, it didn't make me feel anything at all. Everything about it was so superficial, the acting, the plot, the emotions these characters were supposed to be expressing... They just threw in all the possible plot devices that a crime drama would usually have in order to petrify the viewer and then didn't elaborate on them any further . Like, every single one of these people is a criminal of sorts and we don't see them reflect on the things they're doing, don't see them think about it even for a second, they just behave as if some robots programmed to be that way because... Well just because, no other reason. The male lead delivers his part of the story well most of the time, despite the fact he can be dry at times and his actions confusing. The villains were kind of perplexing for me, because they were presented as these cunning and downright terrible human beings, but I found them laughable at times and stupid. The story itself had so many plot holes, so many things left unexplained and hazy that at times I was wondering what the creators of this were actually thinking. It's crazy, because this whole series had so much potential if they'd only looked into it more and had given it more depth. But I don't hate it, haha, it was a kind of an entertaining watch.

I cried so much while watching only 4 episodes, wonder how much I'll cry in the next ones haha. I love this, I cannot explain how much I love it, it makes me so happy watching it, it's honestly such a breath of fresh air for me. I cannot understand for the life of me how can the ratings of this masterpiece be so low while there are other mediocre dramas that hold ratings of 8.5 even, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Gosh this guy gets promoted a lot haha. Love the drama, the acting is spot on, it's very engaging at least in the first 3 episodes. I love it so far, I hope the pacing stays the same to the end.

AvenueX words are not the bible, she always has something to say for my favorites dramas lol
Yes I agree with all of you, most of the time she just loves criticizing dramas, describing how poorly written, directed and etc. they are. Sometimes I agree with her, but most of the times I find myself disagreeing with her views and to be honest I don't really like her videos at all, I've tried watching many times but clicked off halfway because I just don't find them engaging enough, if anything I find myself becoming stressed out while watching just because I feel like she's going to, in other words "judge me" for liking something. I finally stopped watching her videos when she criticized the hell out of love and redemption, which while not being perfect, I love it dearly and to this day is my favorite Chinese drama, but she made me feel bad for liking it. So yeah, people shouldn't be influenced by everyone with an opinion and a successful channel on youtube, we should do our own judging.

I tried watching coffee and vanilla but I dropped it right away.Comparing to the male leads, i feel like Hase…
Totally agree, Coffee and Vanilla was such a pain to watch I stopped after one episode, I can't understand for the life of me as to why people love his acting so much. I don't hate him or anything, but it is nothing special, he scrapes the bare minimum needed for the simple and plotless tv shows he's in, Alice in borderland being the exception. I didn't like him as Niragi too, he was plain and most of his acting seemed forced, especially when he was sticking his tongue out all over the place. Again I don't hate him before anyone comes at me, I just don't like his acting.

This strangely reminds me of those fan fictions I used to read and write when I was in high school and it makes me sooo happy hahaha, I don't actually cringe all too much while watching it, the acting is decent and the setting is beautiful. I wanted to watch something with the male lead ever since I saw him in Laughing Under The Clouds, but I couldn't find anything that appealed me. I loved the two episodes so far, can't wait to see more, I'm not confused as to why coffee & vanilla is considered as similar to this, but the acting (judging by the two episodes) is 10x better than that of coffee & vanilla that's my opinion at least.

Except that Lee Yeon already saved her life at least 5 times. If that isn't damsel in distress... Juuuuustttt…
As I previously said, I haven't seen any other episodes and I cannot talk about her development as a character, as of now, my opinion of her will remain the same. I usually do not like the general air female characters have about them in similar dramas, this one, however, I like very much. She wants to find the truth behind the disappearance of her parents, thus she puts herself in danger, at least in the first three episodes. Therefore I cannot agree that she does that hoping that Lee Yeon will save her. You did say one thing well, to each his own. We all have our own opinions.

Usually he saved her (at least in the three episodes that I saw) against more powerful beings than her that she couldn't have defeated on her own. I like her general attitude towards things, she's no coward, would a coward have jumped from that height just to prove a point? Would a damsel in distress do that? No. Most of them cower behind the stronger character waiting to be saved. She doesn't wait to be saved, yes she does put herself in many dangerous situations that require Lee Yeon's intervention, but she is no coward and that is more than evident. I can't say what she does in other episodes because I haven't seen them and I'm not planning to see them until the drama finishes.
