As someone who is doing software development, some parts of this drama is not realistic at all lol, but I am here…
Yay Bromance but I agree it's not realistic.
Okitsu does remind me of stories of friends I knew who were taken advantage of when they were teens making games and exploited with bad contracts because they were naive so that aspect seems more than . Okitsu just is probably a lot cooler looking than these real guys were though.
I'm finding it amusing that somehow this old game they enjoy playing is multi player.
I could hardly recognize Junpei at the beginning with his hairstyle in this drama, I think it suits him well.…
what's funny is I recently binge watched both seasons of Boss where he's so young and sweet. (and wearing horrid outfits). It was a bit of a shock seeing him as someone older and disgruntled.
Drop. I don't get it ... what was the point ? Why was it necessary to make such an infuriatingly excruciating…
I'm up to ep 5 and she doesn't seem worse than any of the obnoxious male characters that head a lot of dramas... I find her intriguing. She would probably be difficult to work for but as a character I really want them to delve into what makes her tick. I also might be biased as I work in accounting.
I find the plots a little boring/predictable though.
watching this now. It's definitely dated. Has that slow moving style which most jdramas of that era seem to have which is definitely an acquired taste.
Already I'm most intrigued by Tamura. He had this amazing talent for drawing the viewer in. He also has a huge advantage of them. Next to him Kimura and Miyazawa practically look like teenagers.
I'm more interested in the power dynamics than they're being in a poly relationship.
I wonder how they would change things up if they ever did a remake of this though. Imagine Kimura in this but in the Ebisawa role. Or maybe they'd gender bend it and make Ebisawa a woman.
first episode is kind of well... hard to watch maybe because of cultural differences. In my country Torako would have gotten arrested. Also it doesn't matter how good of a teacher she is if she does things that teach unsafe behavior. Like hi just go down this rope ladder and leave the house without your mom knowing? Does it get better?
Catching up on Yoshitaka dramas I've managed to miss so far and I know this isn't going to happen but I want her character to end up with Takumi. They're so cute together and have such a healthy lifestyle. And then in Ep 8 Takumi suddenly acts totally OOC and then Yui gets drunk and who's there to save the day? Her ex .
I think I would have preferred it that Kotaro has to live with the break up and move on But from reading the spoilers here that's clearly not what will happen. Oh well. In my AU Kotaro causes conflicts between Yui and Takumi but they grow from it and learn better communication skills and are happily married (aside from Yui having to survive her MIL's horrifying voice. )
The plot was really been there done that but somehow it drew me in anyway. And I always watch KimuTake dramas. He's just so good at playing those underdog/every man characters. The re-watch value is pretty low and I'm disappointed by Uchida Yuki's character (it seems like actresses in their 40s get less and less interesting roles until they're just playing so and so's mother. I really hope that doesn't happen to Uchida)
Oh and Yasuda Ken is always excellent. I'm also amused by how old the actors playing the high schoolers are.
lots of plot holes but I like the major theme regardless. Episode 6 sent mixed messages but was cute. They basically prove there are no ghosts but meanwhile go figure Hasabe who was totally scared meets a "real" ghost so they're saying ghosts are real. Make up your mind. Still it was kind of cute somehow?
IN the 2nd episode and thinking what a toxic family. Also like how the patriarch grew up to be such a spoiled brat but really how Kenta didn't grow up to be a spoiled brat. It's not really explained well how he didn't end up as messed up as everyone else in his family and I hope they explain that but I doubt they will. Kenta also seems excessively naïve. Shouldn't he know best what his family is like and warn Sato?
Kimura Tae is brilliant as the dishrag of a wife. I hope she ends up getting some vengeance. I'd kind of like to see her getting a younger lover actually. Love the double standards here.
But how many times will poor Sato have to endure people dumping stuff on her head.
My favorite scene so far is when she breaks out of the sauna.
And the theme by Milet! Maybe my favorite part of the whole drama.
Would you believe I looked forward to her moments with Yasuda Ken the most in this? I forgot about Miura Shohei…
Yasuda and Yoshitaka worked well together from the beginning. while Miura didn't really get much screen time and he when he does he's lecturing a lot of the time.
The only thing that gets old after awhile for me is how perfectly they fit everything in place plotwise. Ex: The episode about the daycare is the episode which also focuses on Aihara as a father. This is a common thing with jdramas and I find it a little fake after awhile. Still that scene with his daughter was cute!
Yoshitaka can be a little too cute sometimes but I think it works here. She grows as a prosecutor. I especially liked when Aihara started acting all emotional and she turned the tables on him (in a nice way of course).
The family is a little over the top (courtesy of Namase and Hirose) but I to love Namase in everything anyway. He just does this kind of role so well.

Not Oh Boss! but Boss from a long time ago with Amami Yuki and Takenouchi Yutaka. (And Boss 2).
